Elizabeth Goddard’s Present Danger–What I’m Reading

Elizabeth Goddard's Present Danger; Song of Songs 2:12

Elizabeth Goddard’s Present Danger is what I’m reading this week and what a ride it’s been. She has kept me up two nights until one a.m. But first the photo.

When the wisteria blooms, I know Spring is here to stay. I love that stuff. It smells so fragrant and it’s so pretty hanging from the trees. I know–it takes over everything once it gets a start, but I can’t help it. 😉

Now to my thoughts on Elizabeth Goddard’s Present Danger. I loved this story so much I jumped at the chance to write an endorsement.

Elizabeth Goddard's Present DangerFormer FBI Special Agent Jack Tanner is working as a detective in Montana when he comes across a body in the national forest during a search and rescue mission. He’s committed to finding the killer. Even if it means working alongside his old flame, US Forest Service Special Agent Terra Connors.

Terra discovers that the murder victim had ties to a powerful and dangerous trafficker of archaeological artifacts. The investigation takes a deadly turn–one that hits too close to home. As Terra fears she lacks the courage to face what comes next, Jack is more determined than ever to protect her. But he’s failed her before. And if he fails this time, it will cost them far more than just their hearts.

Join bestselling and award-winning author Elizabeth Goddard as she plunges you into a web of deceit made of hidden crimes, open threats, and long-buried family secrets in this gripping first book of an explosive new series.

My Thoughts on Elizabeth Goddard’s Present Danger:

An airplane crash, smuggling of ancient Native American artifacts, murder, the hero and heroine’s reunion. Oh, my. Present Danger had me up reading until midnight two nights straight (I only get to read at night before I go to sleep) until I finished it the second night at one a.m.!

I loved watching Jack and Terra dance all around their feelings for each other. Both have serious trust issues and when they’re thrown together with someone trying to kill Terra, they have to work them out.

Jack is bound and determined to protect Terra, but she knows how to use a gun and doesn’t think she needs his protection until the killer almost gets her. The story starts out with the two trying to find the killer of a popular insurance salesman and quickly morphs into a search for artifact traffickers who’ve already proven they will kill to keep their operation going.

Several of the characters are not who you think they are and there are twists and turns that will keep you reading. This is a must for romantic suspense readers! And if you want to know more about Elizabeth Goddard, check out my post at the Suspense Sisters!

I only have one book so leave a comment here, and then hop over to the Suspense Sisters and leave another comment, and I’ll enter both entries in a drawing for the book. Winner announced next Friday.

Pat, we must have the same book list! I’m about half way through “Present Danger”, and it is a block buster of a read. I’m a big fan of Ms Goddard.

Thank you also for introducing me to Tom Threadgill’s work. I finished “Collision of Lies” last week. Terrific book! I’ve got “Network of Deceit” queued up right after “Present Danger”. There are so many good books this year. I just finished “Cold Case Takedown” by Jessica Patch. Another winner.

Jessica is a friend, Tim, and is in my same writing group. 🙂 I’m learning how to write for Harlequin from her. 😉 And I love all of Elizabeth’s books! Thanks for stopping by.

The book scenario sounds great and I’m pleased to hang in MS long enough this year to learn that wisteria grows great and wild all over the place. It’s an expensive green-house buy out west. This part of the country is full of good surprises.

I will be looking for this book. Sounds interesting!

I haven’t noticed any wisteria here but I may have been focused on other things when I drove past places where I know they always bloom. I have enjoyed seeing them for years.

Wisteria has such a wonderful scent, doesn’t it Edward! I’ve thought about trying to get a start in my yard, but not sure where I’d put it. lol. Do you ever see poke-sallet growing? Not many people ever notice that little wild plant, but I love to eat it… I think you’ll really enjoy this book!

      1. Edward Arrington

Yes, we have poke sallet that grows down back of our house every year. I’ve never eaten it. Some years back, I had someone ask me if I minded if he got some of it. I told him to go for it. I can’t recall if I’ve ever smelled wisteria. All I’ve seen was growing up above my head in trees over the side of the road bank. I was going to get some for my wife one time and couldn’t get close enough to cut any of it.

Edward, if you like spinach, you’d like poke-sallet. Tastes like wild spinach to me. 🙂 But if you ever do pick any and cook it, be sure to parboil it and pour the water off. Otherwise it might be too strong…And never eat the berries…

I love wisteria and would love to plant some. This book sounds really god. Would love to read it.

It’s a great book, Faith. And like I told Edward, I’d love to plant it, too, but now sure where to put it. A friend gave me tomato starts that I’m babying along–they came from the Amish community not far from my house, so I know the tomatoes will be good!

I don’t have wisteria but enjoy seeing it, both purple and white. My husband and I have been working on flower beds and have English Dogwood, roses, wild violets and amaryllis blooming. I am finishing up Present Danger so don’t enter me. Great book!

I think wisterias are beautiful, I didn’t know that about when the wisterias bloom it means that spring is here to stay, thank you for sharing that. Over here in west TX, it is the mesquite bush that lets us know that spring is here to stay, they say that the mesquite is the smartest here in west TX and that it comes out when spring has really sprung and is here to stay, and all the mesquite bushes here are all coming out and getting their leaves. 🙂 This book sounds like a very good read, I have heard a lot of good things about it, thank you for sharing about it and thank you for the chance. Have a Great weekend and stay safe.

I have a bad tendency to stay up later than I should when I am into a good book and lose track of time. I will plan ahead for this one. Thank you for the review and all the lovely photos you post.

The wisteria are beautiful and the singing of birds can be heard when the door is open. Present Danger is an incredible start to a new series. It certainly kept me glued to my iPad!!

Betti, I’m sitting on my deck right now and a mocking bird is singing his heart out. I’ve missed that so much this winter! And you’re right, Present Danger kept me glued to my iPad, too. Thanks for stopping by.

I don’t have any wisteria (I have a black thumb) but my Mom always says that the pecan trees are always the last to leaf out. Then you KNOW it’s really Spring (as short as it is here). I LOVE Elizabeth Goddard’s suspense novels!

I love Elizabeth’s writing! Her last series definitely kept me on my toes and I’m looking forward to this one. I also left a comment over on Suspense Sisters too!

I’ve only seen pictures of wisteria flowers and I think they’re gorgeous. Wished the internet had smell-a-vision because I bet they smell so good!

Thanks for sharing both your picture & your review for “Present Danger” !
