Luke 1:78-79 What I'm Reading Friday-Dangerous Deceptions

A comment on the photo before I start the What I’m Reading Friday ~ Dangerous Deceptions blog. I took this photo one morning just as the sun rose above the house across the street. My house faces East, something I truly love. Once I lived in a house that faced west and could only see the sunset. That’s when I decided sunsets could be sad. Maybe because of what was going on in my life at that time. At any rate, I truly love sunrises! As you can probably tell.

Okay, I’ll have to be honest about the blog. I haven’t read Dangerous Deceptions yet. But I’ve already preordered it. The reason I chose Dangerous Deceptions to highlight is I haven’t had time to read anything I can review. That and it’s written by some of my favorite authors. I also want to make sure you get a chance to order this book I am so looking forward to reading!

In case you’re wondering why I didn’t read anything this week — I’ve been reading two books in view of endorsing them, plus my editor emailed me the final copy edits for Obsession. That took most of my week, and I simply haven’t had time to read anything else. So I hope you enjoy reading about this awesome anthology!

Here are the descriptions for Dangerous Deceptions:

Dangerous Deceptions: Lives...and hearts...are on the line in eight brand-new Christian Romantic Suspense novels from the genre’s most explosive authors.

Lives…and hearts…are on the line in eight brand-new Christian Romantic Suspense novels from the genre’s most explosive authors.

Virus hunter Aiden Ballinger believes the source of the lethal outbreak that decimated a remote Tibetan village came from disturbing the permafrost. Desperate to rebury it before it buries the world, Aiden enlists Rachel Allen, a beautiful epidemiologist. But while Aiden and Rachel pursue the cure—and their feelings for each other—someone is hunting them. Whoever wants them dead will not stop until they are silenced.

Collision Course: Elizabeth Goddard

His cover blown, FBI Special Agent Reg Jacobson finds refuge on the other side of the country, but trouble follows him when he faces off with a woman from his past. Private Investigator Nicole Weatherly, hired to catch a thief, suspects Reg. When the bullets fly, Reg and Nicole must escape secrets from their pasts before their futures collide.

Glimmer in the Darkness: Robin Patchen

When Cassidy learns another child has been kidnapped from her hometown, she’s convinced the man who took the girl she’d been babysitting seven years earlier is behind the recent abductions. She alone holds the key to finding him. Though James blames Cassidy for his sister’s death, he’ll help if there’s a chance to save a child’s life. Can Cassidy and James identify the serial killer in time to rescue his latest victim?

A man after justice. A local crime boss. The woman caught between. Undercover FBI agent Will Briar is working his way to the top of an illegal operation. But when he discovers the identity of the boss, everything changes. Hollis knows nothing is as it seems. Now she must either save her father and doom herself, or take a chance on the man who could be the answer…to everything.

Ice: Lynnette Bonner

Camryn Hunt witnessed a murder. Now she’s under the protection of handsome small-town sheriff Holden Parker. The gorgeous island location, and break from her dreary life, might be pleasant if the sheriff wasn’t so demanding. Determined that no harm come to Camryn, Holden secludes her at his home. He only wishes she didn’t intrigue him so thoroughly. Attraction only complicates things. Especially when the murderers arrive at his door. It’s going to take all his wits to save her.

Never A Traitor: Jan Thompson

The last thing Private Investigator Earl Young expects is to pose as a fake boyfriend to a whistleblower. His driving need to solve problems forces him to work with paranoid Sienna Halstead as she draws him deeper into her corporate world of secrets and subterfuge. The more time they spend together, the more attraction grows. When another whistleblower is murdered, Sienna knows she’s next. How far will Earl go to protect her?

Is CIA operative Ben Mitchell really in love with the daughter of a Turkish dissident? Titus Ray, his mentor, isn’t buying it; he thinks Ben needs intel on a Muslim cleric. But when Titus follows Ben to northern Virginia, he discovers Ben’s deception is more dangerous than he thought. With their lives on the line, can Titus convince Ben to abandon his plans before it’s too late?

Liar Like Her: D.L. Wood

When disbarred attorney Quinn Bello discovers a body that inexplicably vanishes, no one in her seaside town believes her—no one, that is, except newcomer Ian Wolfe, who for his own mysterious reasons doesn’t hold Quinn’s past against her. Together they search for the truth, but doubts about Quinn’s sanity and innocence increase as the danger escalates. Will they expose the heart of the deception before Quinn becomes the next victim?

This week I finished “Minutes to Die” by Susan Sleeman, “Shades of Truth” by Sandra Orchard, and I’m currently reading “Critical Condition” by Sandra Orchard. All great books! Pat, since you introduced me to Sandra, I’ve been reading her earlier books. She’s a great author, and I thank you for bringing her books to my attention.

I’ve had “Dangerous Deceptions” on preorder for some time, and looking forward to reading it. These analogies are a great way to get acquainted with authors I haven’t read yet.

I’ve read both of those by Sandra, Tim. I wish she’d publish another Serena Jones mystery! I haven’t read Minutes to Die yet, but it’s on my TBR table. Thanks for dropping by and commenting.

I just finished Covert Cover-up by Elizabeth Goddard and The Sinner in Mississippi by D.L. Lane. I also read In the Skies by Marion Kummerow, an author from Germany who writes WW2 books. I have Dangerous Deceptions on pre-order and am hoping for plenty of time to read them all when is comes in.
Sandra Orchard is an old friend of mine – we homeschooled our children at the same time and spent plenty of time together. I’m glad you are enjoying her books, Tim.

I read a cozy mystery, Poison In Paradise, this week. I have Dangerous Deceptions preordered so don’t enter me in the drawing. I am about to read Two Reasons to Run by Colleen Coble, the second of her new series. I thoroughly enjoyed the first one, One Little Lie, and especially like the gulf coast setting near Mobile.

I’ve been binging on contemporary Christian books by new-to-me authors this week! It started when I read ‘Betwixt Two Hearts” (Crossroads Collection #4), six story set by Amanda Tru, Cathe Swanson, Kari Trumbo, Alana Terry, Carol Moncado, Chautona Havig. I enjoyed Kari Trumbo’s book in this set called “Whole Latte Love” so much that I searched out the other books in the “Great River Romance”series….so I’m almost finished with the fourth one (#2 Want Ad Wonder, #3 Check Out Crush, #4 Finally Together). They are so good 🙂 And quick reads too at about 150 pages a piece so I read them in no time!

I’ve also enjoyed “Carolina Homecoming” by Heather Blanton (a historical western along the lines of Ruth & Boaz), and “Wrong Train to Paris” by Jeniffer Moore…the only clean historical read (but so good too)!

I’ve enjoyed discovering new-to-me authors and found some real gems. As far as suspense goes, I did read “Minutes to Die” by Susan Sleeman.

I haven’t picked up a copy of “Dangerous Deceptions” yet, I need to do that!

My reading has had a lot of interruptions this week. I finished Dead End my Nancy Mehl last Friday and started The Heart of a Hero by Susan May Warren. I finished that and started reading Someone Like You by Karen Kingsbury yesterday. I’m hoping to start on Acceptable Risk by Lynette Eason by Monday.

You will definitely enjoy Acceptable Risk, Edward. I haven’t read a Karen Kingsbury novel in a while…will have to do something about that! And Susie and Nancy’s books are always edge-of-the-seat good! Thanks for stopping by.

Hey Pat, I’ve been catching up on binge reading romantic suspense series that I own. Just completed the Uncommon Justice series by Elizabeth Goddard. Now I’m reading the Nikki Boyd series by Lisa Harris.

Love the sunrise and verse. You guys are not helping my TBR lists. I have been jumping around reading a little of this and a little of that. I am tending to stay away from dark subjects right now. I noticed the other day that I spend more time reading about books and authors than actually reading a book. I am hoping this will pass. Previous ordered ‘Dangerous Deceptions’. Sounded interesting.
