Say What? is this week’s Mystery Question. I’m a little worried this week that you will have trouble believing I only made up one of the answers…
But first the photo. While it doesn’t look like it, I took this late at night. The light came from the moon that was behind me. I think that’s Venus to the left of the tree. I love the night sky! And I thought that verse might encourage someone today.
Now onto last week’s Mystery Question Nutty Criminals or What: Four scenarios are below. Three are true, unfortunately. I made up one. Can you guess which one I made up?
Now for this week’s Mystery Question. Below are four scenarios. Three are actually true. One is false. Which one did I make up?
- It was February, and a couple in the middle of a divorce were walking along the bank of a river, quarreling. Unable to win his point, the frustrated man suddenly shoved the woman into the icy river, jumping in to push her under again and again! The only problem? He couldn’t swim and his wife could. She swam to safety while he sank…he died on February 14.
- Two men had spent the day on the river bank fishing and guzzling beer. As they trecked back to their truck with their meager catch, they had to cross a pasture with a long-horned bull in it. One man dared the other to slap the bull on his rump. When he refused, words ensued regarding his character and then a fight broke out, catching the attention of the bull. The men were so intent on their fight they failed to see the bull charging until he’d hooked one of them… on his rump.
- A young couple set out to prove that evil is a make-believe concept the human race invented. They set out on a bike ride to prove their new worldview. Sadly, after a year of biking, they were killed by ISIS militants.
- A helpful neighbor spent his last moments helping a friend weld an exhaust pipe He arrived at the garage shed with an experimental welding kit: an LPG bottle, similar to a propane tank, in which he had mixed both components that make up oxy-acetylene welding gas: acetylene and oxygen. When combined, these two components burn hot enough to cut metal. They are separated for a reason. When the neighbor attacked a torch head straight onto the bottle and lit the welding tip…the explosion shattered windows blocks away.

#2 – bully for them.
Author
Love it, Mary!
Wow, that is a bright moon to light up the sky like that! I hope your area is okay after all the storms we keep hearing about on the news. I think you made up number 1 because it sounds awfully coincidental to be real.
Author
It was the Passover moon, Vera…also known as the Pink Moon. We’ll see next week if it’s #1.
I’m also going with #2.
Author
Hi Diana. We’ll see if it’s #2.
All of these are “hard” to believe but I am going with number 2
Author
Hi Carole! I’m glad they’re ‘hard’! We’ll see if it’s #2…
I follow the news so I know for sure one of these is true. It’s hard to be sure of the others. I hope you made up #4 so I’ll go w/ that, but it may be #2 🙂
Author
Hi Delores! I figured you’d know one of them…we’ll see which one.
Pat, again the photo is amazing…and taken in your yard too!! The verse you chose has much wisdom. I’m going with #2 and I loved Mary’s bully reply!
Author
Hi Debra! Mary’s reply was good. lol We’ll see if you’re both right next week.
I vote for number two. They are all crazy!
Author
They are, aren’t they Paula! We’ll see next week.
#4 — That is a gorgeous picture.
Author
Thank you, Dee. It was a gorgeous night! We’ll see next week if it’s #4.
I like the photo and verse. I think you are right about the bright light being Venus. It’s currently to the west of Orion.
Ouch. That bull swatting will get you in trouble every time. I think you made up #2, but some of those others are way out there.
The bull in the field reminds me of my parents. Dad invited mom to a picnic in a rural setting on their first date. Little did they realize they were munching in a pasture surveilled by a not so friendly bull. Big scare. No injuries. And, mom had the courage to go on another date with dad. Good thing, because they certainly had a happily every after on earth and now in heaven.
Author
Aww, Tim, I love the story about your parents! Glad she gave him another date. lol Last night there were three bright stars in the sky. Not sure what they were other than one was Venus…we’ll see next week if the answer is #2. 🙂
The lighting on the photo is amazing. None of my night photos turn out. Passover moon, hmm, that’s interesting. The verse is appropriate for this week as well. Peace in the storm.
I was thrilled to get #1 correct last week!!! Now this week is a different challenge. I want to say #2, but am going with #4, because it sounds like a suspense writer working on a plot??? Who knows? They’re all crazy.
Author
Yes, Peace in the Storm! Thank you, Barbara. We’ll see next week which one it is…my daughter said the same thing you did about #4.
I am guessing #3. My husband keeps up with planets in view and he said the three that you saw are probably Venus, Saturn, and Jupiter. Maybe?
Author
I googled it and he’s absolutely right, Gloria! The night sky right now is so pretty. We’ll see next week if it’s #3.
I’ll go with 2 this time!!!
Author
Hi Jackie…so you’re going with the popular #2… 😉 We’ll see next week.
# 2 Thanks for always inspiring me with your photos and verses!
Author
Aww, thank you, Judy! I love putting Scripture to my photos. We’ll see next week if it’s the ever-popular #2.
The Scripture verses are powerful. You did a great job with the picture. I concur with Tim that the bright “star” is actually Venus. There is an app, SkySafari, that you can use to help identify the stars and planets that you see. Someone mentioned Saturn, but from what I have read, it is visible in the early morning sky. Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky. My daughter and I were out stargazing early one evening around the 1st of the month. We used SkySafari to try to figure out what we were seeing. According to what we had read, if we got in the right spot at the right time, we were supposed to be able to see Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Uranus, and Mars aligned. You can do a Google search on alignment of planets March 2023. We thought we saw Venus, Uranus, and Mars, along with various stars and constellations. Mercury and Jupiter were only visible just about the horizon for about an hour after sunset. We could not find a location where we could get a good view of the horizon.
I’m intrigued by the fourth scenario. If the explosion blew out windows blocks away, what did it do at ground zero? Was anything left? I’m choosing #2. If it’s true, it certainly proves one thing: drunk and stupid don’t go together well at all. Also, I would say he was lucky to only get hooked on the rump. I think it’s false because two men that drunk and stupid would have probably killed each other long before starting home. Not likely they could have made it all day without a fight in their apparent condition.

Love it, Edward! If I’d been drinking coffee, I probably would’ve spit it. We’ll see next week if it’s the two drunks that I made up. I googled what planets are in the night sky in my area in April and got the answer that Venus, Saturn, and Jupiter. Last night about 8:30 they were beautiful again, but I didn’t get a photo of them. I may try tonight since the skies are so clear.
And I love Psalm 34, especially verse 8.
I’m going to go with #2 as well. Yikes it’s hard to believe any could be true!
Author
Hi Maureen! I agree that it’s hard to believe three of these are actually true! We’ll see next week if it’s #2.
I’m going with #2 because I don’t believe long horn cattle are aggressive by nature, even if they see two people fighting in their enclosure. But I could be wrong about that too, lol! I certainly wouldn’t be caught anywhere near a bull…docile or otherwise.
All these sound true, Patricia, it’s always hard to guess the correct answer 🙂 And I love that photo, can’t hardly believe it was only the light of a full moon illuminating that tree!
Congrats on your upcoming release, looks spectacular!
Author
Thanks, Trixi! I couldn’t believe the way the photos turned out, either. It was an unusual night. I’m so looking forward to getting these edits in so I can take the time to tell everyone about the new release! We’ll see if it’s #2 next week.
