Good Friday Blessings

Even as I go about my routine, Good Friday has always been a somber day as I think about what Christ did for me. But without Good Friday, there would be no Easter.

“And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” ~ Hebrews 12:1,2.

For the past nine years, I’ve read through Sarah Young’s Jesus Calling Devotional Journal, and each day I’ve written a line or two in it, usually about what was going on in my writing life. So I have a record of my writing journey, and each day I see how God directed me on this journey. My entries remind me that I can’t write my books without His help.

For Good Friday and Easter, I want to give away a copy of another one of Sarah Young’s Devotional Journals, Jesus Today.  Leave a comment and I’ll enter you in the drawing. Tell me if you journal and if you do, how has journaling helped you. I’ll announce the winner next week along with the other winners!

I don’t journal but use journals to write sermon notes and jot down cool quotes from books I’m reading.

I am a sporadic journaler. There are times when I need it and do it almost daily. Other times when I don’t seem to need it as much and only journal now and then. I find it helps me sort my thoughts, so the harder seasons tend to have more journaling. Looking back on what I have written is encouraging; it helps to remind me of what I have learned and all God has done in my life.

Hi Diane! I don’t exactly journal, just write a line or two about what’s going on and what I’m dealing with on any given day. A lot of the time it’s a prayer that God will give me the words for my story. 🙂 I hope you have a blessed Easter!

Thank you for the reminder that God is with us through every one of our daily activities, our highs and our lows, our dreams and our realities. I love to read through past journals and see what I was thinking/feeling at that time. Doing so gives me a sense of history and a better understanding of myself and of God.

I try to journal on every Bible chapter I read. I write a verse or passage and write down how I need to apply it in my life or simply how I relate to it. It helps me retain my bible reading as well motivates me.

I am journaling this year and my theme is “Gratitude” I am trying to find at least one thing to be grateful for each day–some days are a lot easier than others! 🙂 Thanks for an opportunity to win a new journal!

I have tried journaling at different times in my life but I think the perfectionist in me criticizes my words and after awhile I stop. As others have shared I’ve used journals to capture quotes or to jot notes from a bible study. I enjoy your blog and hope you have a blessed Easter!

I don’t journal. I just write down quotes that really hit home. I really like MS Barb’s idea! Have a blessed Easter weekend!

Jackie, I love Sarah Young’s writings, too! I wouldn’t really call what I do journaling, just noting what going on in my life each day. Have a blessed Easter! I’ll be flying tomorrow.

I started journaling in the early 90s and continued for about 10 years. Numerous job changes and other factors somehow got me out of my regular routine and I dropped the ball along the way. At times I felt it was helpful but other times it seemed I was only going through the motions. In looking back, I think I focused more on daily activities and not so much on my spiritual life, although that was my reason for starting.

Hi Edward! I understand. I journal about my daily life, and not always about the spiritual. But Sarah Young’s writings always hit me right between the eyes. Have a blessed Easter!

I don’t actually journal, but I do write down my favorite Bible verses and what the Lord says to me during my quiet time every day. I am doing a study of the women of the Bible so I write down my thoughts on that.

I started a journal of favorite scripture years ago but haven’t added much lately. I started bullet journaling in January where I do a little of everything–events, chores, goals, scripture and gratitude items. Happy Easter!
