Psalm 61:1-2

One Wrong Move ~ Reader Friday

Patricia Bradley Reader Friday 36 Comments

One Wrong Move by Dani Pettrey is this week’s Reader Friday. Here’s the first line: “He inhaled the stiff resolution of her death. She’d seen Cyrus. Remembered him.”

But first the photo and verse. I took it back in December in Florida. Sunsets always make me think of God’s strength and this one was no exception. I thought the verse fit it ver well.

Now for One Wrong Move by Dani Pettrey. Here’s the cover and back copy:

Christian O’Brady was pulled into a life of crime at a young age by his con artist parents. Now making amends for his corrupt past, he has become one of the country’s foremost security experts. When a string of Southwestern art heists targets one of the galleries Christian secured, he is paired up with a gifted insurance investigator who has her own checkered past.

Andi Forester was a brilliant FBI forensic analyst until her career was destroyed. She now puts those skills to work investigating insurance fraud, and this latest high-stakes case will test her gift to the limit. Drawn deep into a dangerous game with an opponent bent on revenge, Christian and Andi are in a race against the clock to catch him, but the perpetrator’s game is far from finished, and one wrong move could be the death of them both.

My Take:

This is the first book I’ve listened to and wow! it made my drive to Dallas so much nicer! The miles seemed to go by a lot faster! I really enjoyed One Wrong Move by Dani Pettery! It grabbed me by the throat and did not let go until The End! I sat in my car after reaching the Gaylord in Grapevine, Texas, because I didn’t want to interrupt the story.

One Wrong Move has so many twists and turns, and the characters are great. Andi Forester believes the stigma of being accused of botching a crime scene analysis will follow her forever. But once Christian O’Brady hears her side of the story, he is in her corner. He asks his brother to take her case and prove her innocence.

What follows is a story of greed, revenge, intrigue, danger, love, and I couldn’t stop listening to it. It’s a story that lovers of romantic suspense will enjoy!

Beautiful sunset and verse, Pat! One Wrong Move sounds gripping! I scored an ARC for Cheryl Grey Bostrom’s upcoming What the River Keeps. It’s a beautiful, slow-burn, contemplative read. I’m loving it!

Priscilla, One Wrong Move is very gripping, and I was surprised how much I enjoyed listening to it. I will definitely be listening to more books when I drive. What the River Keeps sounds like a really good book.

Love the photo and verse. We surely need to know God is our Rock.

I really enjoyed Dani’s book, too. She writes so well.

“If they’d been on the ice, Conrad Kingston, center for the Blue Ox hockey team, would have done time in the penalty box.” This is the first line of “Conrad” by Susan May Warren and the second book of her new series The Minnesota Kingstons. I just started this yesterday, so not too much has happened yet. I love the name she chose for the hockey team. So appropriate for Paul Bunyan country. Speaking of Paul Bunyan, check out this fun song by the New Christy Minstrels: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJ88aYZTMiM

I love the song, Tim…and those crossties they talk about at the beginning of the song–we used to cut crossties at our little circle-saw mill years ago! I think you would enjoy One Wrong Move, too!

I totally agree. Listening to books on tape makes a long drive go by so much faster! And I do not envy you driving around in the Grapevine/Dallas area. You are one brave heart! The last time I drove there I hit Friday, 5:00 Dallas traffic and seven lanes! No more!!!

Good review on Dani’s book. You definitely got me hooked on One wrong Move. I love her books!

I am reading A traveling Grandma’s Guide to Israel by our own Delores Topliff. I. Am. Loving. It! Chock full of tips and adventures. Makes me want to pack a suitcase and head out overseas again!

I have been listening to books that I found on Chirp at a good price. I finished the sixth book by Carola Dunn, a British historical mystery series. It is great whilst () working in the flower beds or walking. This is the first line of Where There is Smoke by Susan May Warren: She’d come three thousand miles to burn to death.

Nobody noticed the bag at first. It was just a plain brown grocery bag sitting on the end of our table at the fund-raiser for Los Encinos State Park.

“Crime definitely pays… if you don’t get caught.” From A Forgotten Truth, Agency Files Book Four by Chautona Havig. I’m on the process of binge reading this entire series for the third or fourth time. I love these books, Chautona does a good job developing some unusual quirks in characters and in character development. I’m looking forward to reading One Wrong Move by Dani Pettrey. If sounds amazing.

Great picture! So relaxing to view. The verse definitely suits it.

I enjoyed Dani’s book a while back. She is on my short list along with you, Pat, and several others who are my favorite authors.

I finally got the opportunity to start reading a published book. It is Irene Hannon’s The Best Gift: Encore Edition. The first lines:

“How much longer is he going to make us wait for the reading of the will? I have a plane to catch.”
