Isaiah 40:22

My TBR List ~ Reader Friday

Patricia Bradley Reader Friday 62 Comments

My TBR List is this week’s Reader Friday post. Although I haven’t had time to read, I’ve been adding books to my To Be Read list. I thought I’d share it with you.

But first the photo and verse. Did you ever wonder what the back side of a cloud looks like? Wonder no more. Clouds look the same top and bottom. I took the photo from the air as we flew to Venice…Florida. 🙂 It was a beautiful day with scattered clouds that looked like cotton candy.

As I was 2500 feet in the air, the verse from Isaiah came to mind. It is He who sits above the circle of the earth. With this verse, it’s hard to understand how anyone ever thought the earth was flat!

Now for my TBR list. First off are two books that released this past week. The first one is an anthology that’s perfect for Valentine’s month. Here are the covers and back copy:

When love is rooted in God, no force of nature can stand against it.

Four heartfelt novellas. Four forces of nature. One unshakable truth—faith-filled love can weather any storm.

Romancing the Elements brings together four uplifting romance stories where ordinary people discover extraordinary love when life pushes their comfort zones. From icy porches to coastal winds, rugged wilderness trails to unyielding stone, each story explores how faith, love, and surrender intertwine in unexpected seasons.

In this collection, readers will meet:

  • A driven career woman and a gentle small-town engineer whose opposites-attract romance unfolds during an unexpected ice storm
  • A television anchor starting over in a coastal city, learning that home—and love—may look different than she planned
  • Two battle-tested veterans facing old wounds and new hope amid Montana’s untamed beauty
  • A counselor and a survival expert leading a wilderness retreat where healing, faith, and love walk side by side

Blending small-town charm, emotional depth, and gentle humor, these novellas offer tender reminders that God often does His best work when hearts are stretched and plans are surrendered.

If you love the heartfelt faith, emotional warmth, and hopeful romance found in stories by Denise Hunter, Irene Hannon, or Becky Wade—settle in and let these stories carry you through every season of love.

This anthology is available on Amazon KU.

Next are stories from Lynette Eason and Dani Pettrey.

Brace yourself for double the suspense in these snowbound adventures as an avalanche forces two couples to face down their enemies in a ski resort shut off from the outside world.

In Buried in Shadows by Dani Pettrey, Cassandra Parker arrives at her best friend’s destination wedding, praying her stalker hasn’t tracked her to Colorado. Also part of the wedding party is Sheriff Joel Brunswick, the man she stunned by leaving at the altar to hide a dangerous truth. When an avalanche strands their ski group in an abandoned lodge, it becomes chillingly clear that Cassandra’s stalker has followed her … and he’s willing to kill to make her his.

In Snowbound Secrets by Lynette Eason, Dr. Maya Sullivan fully intends to escape her past and finish planning a retreat for military veterans at the ranch she’s inherited. Unfortunately, her plans go sideways when an avalanche traps her in a Colorado ski resort. An unexpected reunion with her high school crush forces her to confront past wounds, but she soon realizes someone is targeting her, and their search for a shadowy enemy becomes a matter of life and death.

A gripping romantic suspense novella collection from bestselling authors Lynette Eason and Dani Pettrey featuring second-chance romance, trapped together forced proximity, military and law enforcement heroes, a small-town destination wedding, and snowbound survival at a Colorado ski resort.

You can buy it on Amazon.
And Deadly Currents by Elizabeth Goddard. It releases on Tuesday, February 17.

Three years after her mother’s suspicious death, forensic artist Jo Cattrel is in hiding, working at a storm-watching lodge along the Washington coast. When her father sends her a disturbing and cryptic message, Jo leaves the safety of the lodge to find him. But during the ferry crossing, Jo witnesses a murder–and becomes a target.

More surprising to Jo than being in danger is the identity of the person who steps in to protect her: none other than her ex, former Green Beret Cole Mercer. Now a private investigator, Cole has been looking into her mother’s death. If he can just uncover the truth, maybe Jo can end her self-imposed captivity and the two of them can pick up the pieces and build a future together.

As Cole and Jo search for answers, the past rushes in like a dangerous tide to sweep them away before the truth can be revealed.

In this action-packed thriller, USA Today bestselling author Elizabeth Goddard serves up a complex plot and the sizzling romance readers have come to expect.

Now for Friday’s song. This is the first song I remember hearing sung in church other than “Jesus Loves Me.” I hope you enjoy.

Great photo and verse. I remember flying through a very large cloud formation one summer over Arizona coming into Phoenix for a plane change. All I could think of is the enormous power that God exerts over His marvelous universe. And yet, as a devotion I read this morning made clear, we are God’s kids, and we can ask Him anything. What a privilege!

My TBR is currently all preorders, with “Deadly Currents” likely to be my next read. I’m currently reading “Romance Under Wraps”, the first of the Whiskey River Mysteries by Claire O’Sullivan. Pat, thank you for introducing me to this author a few weeks back! It starts with: “Another week passed, and I still had no idea who I truly was. I stared at patient charts and their familiar name tags with a pang of regret. I knew their names, but I didn’t know mine.”

I am reading The Bird of Bedford Manor by Michelle Griep and just finished listening to the four book of Charles Martin’s Murphy Shepherd series (wow!). When Justice Comes by Colleen Coble and Rick Acker was a great end to the series. Raging Waters was good and Last to Fall by Lynn Blackburn also. Next up is Connie Mann’s The Liar’s Treasure. I am also listening to Shannon Bream’s The Love Stories of the Bible Speak.

Ha. I guess I never thought about seeing the back side of a cloud. Something to think about. Hmmmmmm. Fun photo, Pat.

I am currently trying to read Waiting on Love by Tracie Peterson, but have only read the first paragraph so far. My TBR pile, oh mercy. It is huge. However, I do want to read all the ones you mentioned above. . . and will!

Love the picture and verse as always.

I was at the library in December and came across some that were written over ten years ago. I’m reading one of those now. It’s A Noble Groom by Jody Hedlund.
