Life Flight ~ Reader Friday

Life Flight; Ps 36:5

Life Flight by Lynette Eason is this week’s Reader Friday. Here’s the first line: “Today was not going to be the day they died–not if she had anything to say about it.”

But first the photo and verse. A friend of mine, Connie Jennings, takes a photo of the sunset each evening and shares it on Facebook. She had taken some gorgeous photos, and this is one of them. She graciously said I could share it on my blog. The Scripture verse is from this week’s Bible reading. I thought it was perfect for the photo.

Now for Life Flight by Lynette Eason! Here’s the back copy and cover:

Life Flight by Lynette Eason

An edge-of-your-seat suspense thriller from start to finish.”–Library Journal

“A heart-stopping, breath-stealing masterpiece of romantic suspense!”– Colleen Coble, USA Today bestselling author

***

EMS helicopter pilot Penny Carlton is used to high-stress situations, but being forced to land on a mountain in a raging storm with a critical patient–and a serial killer on the loose–tests her skills and her nerve to the limit. She survives with FBI Special Agent Holt Satterfield’s help. But she’s not out of the woods yet.

In the ensuing days, Penny finds herself under attack. And when news reaches Holt that he may not have gotten his man after all, it will take all he and Penny have to catch a killer–before he catches one of them.

Bestselling and award-winning author Lynette Eason is back with another high-octane tale of close calls, narrow escapes, and the fight to bring a nefarious criminal to justice.

My take:

This is book #1 in the Extreme Measures series and what a kickoff! I read the second book in the series–Hostile Intent by accident (You can read my review here.), so you can read them out of order with no problem. I actually went back and bought Life Flight because the 2nd book was so good. And Life Flight didn’t disappoint!

Lynette Eason had me flipping the pages on this one, telling myself “just one more chapter and I’ll go to sleep.” I really like her heroine, Penny Carlton and the hero Holt Satterfield. This book was filled with twists and turns, and I simply had to find out who the bad guy was. Nice surprise!

This is another outstanding book from Lynette Eason that readers of romantic suspense will love!

Connie’s photo and the verse are beautiful. Haha, I’m the queen of reading books out of order! Life Flight sounds exciting. Good review as always, Patricia!

I love those stunning sunrise/sunset photos. They are so dramatic. And the verse you chose parallels them with the immensity of God’s love and faithfulness to His promises to us.

I love Lynette’s books, and “Life Flight” was great! I have read books in a series out of order, but not out of intent. Sometimes I don’t realize there were others that preceded it. In fact the one I’m reading now is one of the earlier books in the Patrick Bowers series by Steven James. The first line is “Although typically transmitted through aerosol means after six to eight days, with recent advances in synthetic biology, in time the variola virus could also theoretically, be modified to transfer well before the patient is symptomatic.” As you might guess, one of the main plot lines is about a human modified virus that is both very deadly, and very easily spread. Steven wrote “Every Deadly Kiss” in 2017.

And to wrap up a loose end regarding Lynn Blackburn’s “Under Fire” epilogue, she says is a tease for her new series, but that was all she wrote.

And one more thing, I love mysteries with a chess component. I’m looking forward to the release of “Counter Attack”!

I really hope you enjoy Counter Attack, Tim! I haven’t read that book by Steven James…will have to remedy that. 🙂 And if you’re ever on FB, look up Connie’s photos.

The photo looks like a beautiful explosion of brilliance. Love it! The verse is so appropriate.

I don’t intentionally read books out of sequence, but it has happened.

I’m reading Fraser by Susan May Warren (I’ve got to set it aside for a few days to read and review a book by another author, a commitment I made two months ago). First line: He might be the luckiest guy on the planet.

Love these bursts of sunset colors when I open this blog! Perfect Scripture to start the day, too.

I read Life Flight last year and I agree, it was a good one. Yes, I’ve read books out of order. If necessary, I will just go back and reread the entire series in order if I want to keep up with characters. Doesn’t bother me a bit, as I reread my books 3-4 times anyway.

“Everything looked the same,” is the first line of Amanda Cabot’s After the Shadows. Even though that first line may not pull you in, the first line of the back blurb might. “Emily Leland sheds no tears when her abusive husband is killed in a bar fight, but what awaits her back in Sweetwater Crossing is far from the welcome and comfort she expected.”

Sorry for posting twice. For some reason the blog told me I had said something similar before and it wouldn’t allow me to post. So I changed some words around and it posted twice. Sorry!!

Great photo and scripture to compliment it. I occasionally read out of order. Life Flight is another great read by Lynette Eason.
These are the first lines from The Women of Easter by Liz Curtis Higgs.
She sat in the pew across from us, dressed entirely in yellow. No more than four years old, she was utterly adorable, from the circlet of yellow flowers in her hair to her lacy dress, pale tights, and Mary Jane shoes.

I loved Life Flight! Edge of your seat suspense.
I’m currently reading The Last Chance Cowboy by Jody Hedlund. “It’s a boy, Catherine Remington held the squalling infant upside down by his ankles, making sure he didn’t inhale mucus.”

    Beautiful photo for the scripture.
I try not to read a series out of order.

Beautiful photo, Patricia. And a perfect verse to go with it.

I have “Life Flight” in my library, but haven’t read it yet. I’ve heard so much about Lynette Eason’s works that I’m looking forward to it.

Here’s the first line from “Cinnamon Skin” by John D. MacDonald. I read the book some time ago, and I think this opening is one of the best: “There are no hundred percent heroes.”

I’m currently reading Solid as Steele by Susan Sleeman. The first sentence is, “The body lying on the front porch wasn’t included in Mackenzie Steele’s vacation home rental.” It’s a great book and I’ll probably stay up late tonight finishing it. 🙂
Life Flight sounds like a book I need to add to my TBR pile!

    Lovely picture and verse.
    I loved Life Flight.
I try not to read out of order but sometimes slip up. I gyess it depends on if they are loosely connected.
