Killer Christmas Evidence ~ Reader Friday

Patricia Bradley Reader Friday 33 Comments

Killer Christmas Evidence by Sami A. Abrams is this week’s Reader Friday. Here’s the first line: The police report burned in Detective Cassidy Bowman’s hand. Accidental death due to drunk driving. No way. She knew her cousin better than that.

But first the photo and verse. When I snapped the photo of the magnolia, which by the way is our state flower, it struck me anew how faithful God is. Year after year, the magnolias adorn the trees in the neighborhood with these beautiful blossoms much like Christmas ornaments. Next week, I’ll post a photo of a Magnolia tree in full bloom! At any rate, the blossom reminded me of how faithful God is to His creation as stated in the verse. It’s comforting to know God is faithful, especially when we go through hard times.

Now for Killer Christmas Evidence by Sami A. Abrams. Here’s the cover and back copy:

Killer Christmas Evidence by Sami A. AbramsThe search for a criminal becomes a fight for survival.

The moment detective Cassidy Bowman links a chain of suspicious deaths to a serial killer, she becomes the deadly assassin’s number one target. But a blow to the head robs her of her memory and she can’t put the pieces of the case back together alone. Can she convince detective Kyle Howard to help her catch the culprit by proving her theory…before the killer succeeds in taking Cassidy’s life?

From Love Inspired Suspense: Courage. Danger. Faith.

This is the 4th book in the Deputies of Anderson County.

My take:

Oh, my goodness…I started this book Wednesday night and read until 1:30…not good when I had to get up early. It grabbed me from the first sentence and didn’t let go until the end!

Cassidy Bowman is the epitome of an organized almost OCD detective. So when her commanding officer doesn’t believe her when she insists a serial killer is on the loose, Cassidy doesn’t let that stop her. So the CO insists she take a medical leave until she can work out her problems.

But she doesn’t have a problem…except for the serial killer who is trying to kill her. Add to that her dead friend’s former fiancee believes Cassidy is responsible for her death. And she can’t exactly remember everything she should because the killer whacked her on the head. Talk about conflict.

Of course sparks fly between Cassidy and Kyle and they’re not all romance sparks. This was a great read, one I believe Christian suspense readers will thoroughly enjoy!

I’m working on Deadly Revenge…the book that follows this one:

Fatal Witness by Patricia Bradley

As a child, artist and potter Dani Bennett witnessed the brutal murder of her parents. With no memory of the incident or her true identity, she was forced to take on a new name and a new life, hidden away in Montana for the past 25 years.

Mae Richmond has spent the same stretch of time searching for her granddaughter, who went missing the night her daughter and son-in-law were murdered. Convinced the woman she saw in a pottery magazine feature is the woman she’s been searching for, she enlists the help of K-9 officer Mark Lassiter of Pearl Springs, Tennessee, who tracks Dani down.

Skeptical but curious, Dani sets out on a journey to uncover the secrets of her past and reclaim her true identity. But someone close to her is determined to keep the truth of what happened all those years ago hidden.

Pat, that photo is so wonderful. Thank you for sharing with us. Every flower is witness to God’s love and faithfulness. I’m looking forward to your magnolia tree photo. One Mother’s Day long ago, my dad and I got a small magnolia tree, just a sapling, really, for mom. We planted it in the front yard, and over the years it grew into a magnificent tree that caught the attention of passers-by. It was still going strong many decades later when mom finally sold her house to come live with us in Tucson.

I’ve read “Killer Christmas Evidence”, and like all Sami’s books, it is a great read!

I’m currently reading “Lethal Danger” by Jerusha Agen (Guardians Unleashed #4); another great author. It begins with “Excitement and anticipation buzzed through Jazz Lamont’s veins, taking her back to when she was eight years old, and she believed dreams could come true.” Imagine working security at a major fair, and discovering that your favorite suspense author is working the same fair. That’s what Jazz discovers when she meets handsome author Hawthorne Emerson.

I must read Jerusha’s book, Tim! One of these days my TBR table is going to collapse! I’m glad your mom got to enjoy her magnolia tree. I suppose it’s too dry for Magnolias in Tucson.

My first impulse was to bend over to smell the magnolias fragrance. And yes, it is comforting to know God is faithful in the hard times. I couldn’t have gotten through many of them without him.

Sami’s book does sound Ike a real page-turner. I like her books. Getting out my to-be-bought list now. Great review, Pat.

Tim, I got my notification that Jerusha’s book, Lethal Danger, should be at my house any day now. Can’t wait to start it.

Earlier in the week I read The Berlin Letters by Katherine Reay. It’s a good one, ya’ll.

“What have I done?” This is the first line in Cara Putman’s latest book, Vanished, which I am currently reading.

    Have a good weekend, everyone!

My daughter got a bonus when they bought a house. There was a huge magnolia tree in the front yard! She had always wanted one.
I’m currently reading Courting An Amish Bishop by Mindy Steele.

I love magnolias. We lost ours to Hurricane Michael. Sami’s books are very good. I am reading The Crown Conspiracy by Connie Mann. The first line:
Hope is an anchor for the soul.
    Prologue
Along the West Coast of Italy-1750
She ran down the quiet streets, her fine leather slippers making no sound on the worn cobblestones.

Wow! Awesome photo – so beautiful! Can’t wait to see the full tree. I have a star magnolia which begins to bloom during our first warm snap in February and a couple of years frost has killed the blooms before it fully blooms.
Killer Christmas Evidence sounds like a winner!
I’m reading The Secrets She Kept, bk #7 in True Crime Junkies series by Christy Barritt. She ran as fast as she could down the dim corridor. (Skip down a couple of lines) The place smelled like rubbing alcohol, dust and . . . death.
Looking forward to Deadly Revenge Pat!
Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms!

That is a beautiful flower. Our public library has a large magnolia tree by the parking lot. I haven’t noticed if the flowers have bloomed yet. I’ll have to check on it next Monday when I go that way. The school next door used to have two huge ones in the front yard, but they got them cut down several years back. I was disappointed. The verse is a good choice.

Sami Abrams’ book sounds good. I’m so far behind on books I want to read that I doubt I will ever catch up. I just started Davis Bunn’s newest release, Midnight Harbor. It’s the latest in his Miramar Bay series. The first line is: Ian’s flight from Washington landed in Los Angeles forty-five minutes early, just in time for him to watch the pale wash of a new dawn.

I hate to see old trees come down, Edward. Sami’s book is good and if you get a chance to read it I think you’ll enjoy it. And Davis Bunn’s book sounds like one I’d like.

The verse and flower are comforting today in my time of need. My son passed away in his sleep April 16trh. He was just 57 years old. He had just retired as Captain of our fire department. I am still in unbelief and denile. The worst part is he wanted to be cremated and our coronor’s office is so backed up with paper work. We’re waiting for death certificate before we can proceed. Son should not die before mom.

Magnolia tree blooms smell so good, we also have them by our local library. They’re beautiful! Sami’s book sounds interesting and another one for my increasing TBR list!
Between dodging storms this week, outside watching the Auroras, which were fascinating, and we also had two friends to die within two days, I haven’t read too much. Still on The Cold Light of Day.
I hope you and all the others on here had a Happy Mother’s Day!!
DJ, I’m so sorry for your loss.
