Four Days Famous; 1Peter 5:7

Four Days Famous by Luana Ehrlich is a fast-paced totally captivating mystery. Here’s the first line: Monday, January 3
I had a strategy in mind, an intricate plan, a method I’d carefully conceived and put together over a period of several days.

When I read that, I couldn’t wait to see what would go wrong. 🙂

But first the photo and scripture. I took the photo the day before the ice storm hit the Mississippi Valley all the way to Louisana. We are blessed (as I’m writing this on Thursday night) in that our temps have not fallen below 34°, and I’m praying they won’t! And I’m praying for all of those in the path of that ice storm who weren’t as fortunate as Northeast Mississippi!

Now onto Luana Ehrlich and Four Days Famous. Here’s the cover and back cover copy:

Four Days FamousMylas Grey doesn’t want to be famous. Not even for a day.
As a private investigator, he prefers to fly under the radar.

However, when a well-known doctor asks Mylas to investigate his father’s murder, that’s exactly what happens. Suddenly, Mylas is dodging reporters while interviewing suspects and searching for the dead man’s elusive girlfriend.

In the end, he narrows his suspects down to three people . . .

First, there’s the fired employee . . .
The man had opportunity and means, but did he have enough fire in his belly?

Then, there’s the ambitious daughter . . .
She had motive, opportunity, and means, but would she really kill her own father?

And finally, there’s the disgruntled client . . .
He had motive and means, but did he have opportunity?

Mylas has a few other things on his mind besides catching the killer, like learning to work with the staff he’s put together at his new private investigative agency, an undertaking that turns out to be more difficult than he anticipated.

And then, there’s the love of his life, Whitney Engel, who’s not sure she wants to be involved with someone who keeps showing up on the national news every night.

As Mylas closes in on the killer, he makes a costly mistake, one that could prove deadly. Will his desperate prayers for a miracle be answered?

My Take:

I love a good mystery and Luana Ehrlich has provided one in Four Days Famous. I already liked Mylas Grey from the other three books in the series. And by the way, you don’t have to read the others to enjoy this one. Each book stands alone as far as the mystery is concerned.

Mylas formerly worked for a powerful US senator to ‘solve problems’ out of the public eye. Nothing illegal, just quietly. He has what it takes to be swoon-worthy: handsome, strong sense of right and wrong, and recently a new Christian. It’s interesting to see him work through what God is doing in his life.

I also like his girlfriend. She was in a previous book (one of those you’ll want to read) and was responsible for his initial interest in Jesus. But he’s finding himself strangely attracted to one of his new employees…we’ll see how that turns out.

As for the mystery, I love seeing how his mind works and he ties clue A to clue B. A time or two I thought I had the murderer figured out, but then something would happen and I would change my mind.

If you like a good, clean mystery with interesting characters, you’ll enjoy Four Days Famous. I also enjoy Luana Ehrlich’s Titus Ray Thrillers, a lot of them set in the Middle East.

You may not be familiar with Luana’s books, but I think if you like mysteries or thrillers, you’ll enjoy them. You can find them on Amazon here. Or read them on KU.

Thank you for the January win, Pat. And, for the beautiful photo and matching verse. I look forward to your photos and verse. The are very uplifting. After reading about ice storms and cold temperatures, and just so no one thinks it’s always warm in Tucson, Wednesday night’s low was a heart stopping 23 degrees. It was cloudy all day, then cleared for a colder than usual night. The good news is we only get a few like that each year.

“Four Days Famous” sounds intriguing. I will be looking for it.

“As Leia Dukes stepped through the old familiar front door of her family’s darkened farmhouse, she felt a pair of beefy hands grab her roughly from behind.” is the first line of “Undercover Protection” by Maggie K Black. I just finished this book, and I’m still trying to catch my breath!

Tim, that first line grabbed me! And I think you would really enjoy the Mylas Grey series! Thanks for stopping.

Oh,and I laughed at your comment about the cold temps in Tuscon because it reminded me of what my daughter’s weatherman in South Florida said the other day: “We get ten days of winter spread over three months. Come on, folks, you can handle this.”

  2. Priscilla Bettis

I’m so glad the temps didn’t drop below freezing where you are. I’m in Texas, and it got down to 18 last night. And windy. Everything is covered in ice. It’s pretty but dangerous.
Four Days Dangerous sounds like a fun read! Thanks for sharing your review.:-)

Oh, Priscilla! I’m praying for everyone who got ice yesterday! As much as I talk about not liking snow, I really don’t like ice. It kills! And the power goes off.

I think you would enjoy Luana’s books!

This book, and yes I would have to grab the previous ones and read first, sounds so good.
We did get the sleet, ice & snow. Temps in the teens. So, good reading weather.

Great Scripture and photo, Pat. Like Tim, I also look forward to them. It’s usually just what I need at the moment.

Luana Ehrlich is another new author for me and the Mylas Grey series sounds like a good challenge for the brain.

Thank you so much for the link to the praise music, Pat. Getting ready to listen now. This is kind of like Christmas morning with gifts of a photo,
Scripture, book review, praise music and an update on everyone’s weather.

    Congratulations on your win, Tim!

Praying for you all with the ice storm. Stay safe.

BTW, do you see the cat’s face in the clouds? It’s between the two darker black clouds. You can actually see one head at the left angle where the cat is resting on its paws. Tilt your head to the right, and you will see another angle. The cat has its mouth in an 0 shape.

Oh, I know what you mean! There are so many untold stories in cloud formations. I LOVE looking at them. Let’s pray neither one of us has a wreck as we search the sky for the mysteries before us. That one cat on the right looks a tad like Suzy. Only Suzy smiles more…at least from the pics I’ve seen. Lol

Suzy is a sweet cat with a loving personality. Tux is a little more standoffish and not as loving, but then he’s a male who was feral, best I can tell when he came to the house and decided to stay. lol

That is one of my favorite verses. Thanks, Pat. I have most of the books in this series and need to start on them. I am reading a cozy by Amanda Flower, her Farm to Table series.
It was a crisp mid-October afternoon. The weather was perfect for sweaters, light scarves, and riding boots. The air smelled of apple cider, hay, and pumpkin spice. (first few lines)

I’m not a real big straight mystery fan, more like a romantic suspense one. BUT, I’m always on the look-out for some good Christian mystery for my husband because that’s more his thing 🙂 I’ll have to check out her books for him, sounds like ones he would enjoy.

Beautiful picture! I’m glad you didn’t get caught in the ice storm Patricia. I have family who live in Illinois & they just got slammed with a ton of snow and ice. I’m sure glad I don’t live there anymore because I am not a fan of that kind of weather!

P.S. Are there any other recommendations for CF (or at least clean) non-romantic suspense or mystery books/ authors that you know of? My husband was given a Kindle paperwhite by his co-worker recently, and while he’s not too keen on ebooks, he said he’d give it a try. I have access to my sister-in-law’s Overdrive library for ebooks that has a massive amount of them available to borrow 🙂

Trixi, I have a friend in St. Louis who got over a foot of snow and can’t get out of her house! The photo was taken during our 2nd snow in January…we rarely get snow but got three different snow accumulations in January.

Let me think about the mystery book authors I know and post some suggestions later. I’ll make another comment so others who might be interested can see them. I think he’d like Luana’s other books–the Titus Ray Thrillers. They’re Christian and not what I call having romance in them. One author I’m thinking of is Brandylynn Collins. Check these out:https://www.amazon.com/Brandilyn-Collins/e/B001H6U0LU/

And I’m definitely not a fan of winter. lol

That picture draws you in when you put that verse with it. The SON seems to be drawing the clouds (fears) toward it.

The book sounds like an excellent read. I need to look for her books. I’m reading the latest Lisa Harris book in her Fallout series. It releases next week.

Patricia, thank you for honoring me by featuring Four Days Famous! This book was a delight to write, so I’m happy you also found it a delight to read. Truthfully, there were times when I also wondered who the real murderer was!! I’m glad you thought the same thing. I’m sure you know exactly what I mean. Our characters sometimes have a mind of their own, don’t they? They take us on journeys we never expected, and we just have to realize we’re along for the ride.

The first line from the book I’m reading is from A Criminal Game by D.L.Wood, the Christian fiction author of the Unintended series. “I can’t believe this is how it ends.” That’s a great first line, isn’t it?

Wow! D. L. Wood came up with a good one there! I’ll have to read that series…I think I have at least one in my Kindle…I wish I had more time to read!!
Thanks for stopping by, Luana! And one of my books got to the end and I started the reveal chapter and suddenly it was, nope, wrong person. It turned out to be someone I had to go back and beef their part up a bit. lol

I have not read this book (just downloaded it) but have enjoyed the previous Mylas Grey books as well as the Titus Ray series. “Another broken dream rested in front of Deputy County Attorney Tricia Jamison.” Trial by Fire by Cara Putnam.
Always enjoy the photos and scripture verses you share! God bless!

Like others, this is a new author for me! Looking forward to checking out the books. The description of Four Days Famous has me hooked.

Currently reading The Rhise of Hope (Darkness Overcome Book #2) by Max Sternberg.

“Leon awoke in a cold sweat.”

It reminds me of a mash up of Frank Peretti and JRR Tolkien. Quite unique!
