Final Approach ~ Reader Friday

Final Approach (Lake City Heroes Book #4): A Christian Suspense Thriller by Lynette Eason is this week’s Reader Friday. Here’s the first line. Air Marshal Kristine Duncan leaned back in her seat, her eyes skimming over the sunrise outside the Airbus 319’s window.

But first the photo and verse. I snapped this photo on a day I was feeling down, and the dark clouds reflected my fear and anxiety. That morning, I’d read that verse in my daily quiet time, and it seemed perfect for the photo.

Now for Final Approach (Lake City Heroes Book #4): A Christian Suspense Thriller by Lynette Eason. Here’s the cover and back copy:

Final ApproacyFinal Approach (Lake City Heroes Book #4): A Christian Suspense Thriller with Mystery and Clean Romance between a FBI Agent and Air Marshal

She’s intent on investigating a sinister plot of revenge, and it will take all her courage to survive.
>

Air Marshal Kristine Duncan is not on duty when a hijacker attempts to seize control of the plane she and her friends are on as they head out on a much-needed vacation. Jumping into action and aided by FBI Special Agent Andrew Ross, Kristine thwarts the attack and the plane lands safely. But as the investigation into the incident gets underway, Kristine and Andrew are confused at every step. Nothing about the investigation goes as it should, and each layer they peel back just reveals another layer of perplexity.

As the two work together to navigate a web of deception, blame, and personal reckoning, they find there’s more to this story than meets the eye–and more to love and admire about each other. They’ll have to put their skills to the test–and their hearts on the line–to unravel the truth and ensure that justice prevails.

My Take:

I’ve been waiting for Kristine and Andrew’s story for three books, and it did not disappoint. As with all of Lynette Eason’s books, the tension is high throughout. The hijacking is reminiscent of a similar hijacking that resulted in the death of Kristine’s mother and was the reason Kristine became an Air Marshal.

I read this book in one sitting, staying up until 3 a.m. to finish–I simply could not put it down. I enjoy the way Eason’s series characters interact with each other, bringing me up to date on previous stories. As always, I try to guess who the villain is, and this was not an easy one to pinpoint.  The romance seamlessly intertwined with the investigation, bringing Kristine and Andrew closer together. This is a story romantic suspense readers will love!

I have not read Final Approach. It sounds good! I am reading Birds Alive! by Jen Dodrill. The first line: I could write blogposts and headings, research keywords, and create printables for my Mamma Birds blog readers. In my dreams.

So far I’m having fun reading the book!

Ominous clouds often make great photos like yours, Pat. The verse is a great fit to the photo.

“Final Approach” is one of Lynette’s best. It did grip me, but nothing keeps me reading past my bed time! 🙂 I highly recommend this book to you all.

“’Shots fired. I repeat, shots fired.’ FBI Supervisory Special Agent Samira Haddad hit the ground hard using the black government issued SUV as cover while the cacophony of gunfire erupted around her.”
This is the first line from Rachel Dylan’s “Death Follows Her”. It’s fast paced suspense when a high power attorney wins cases for big companies and now their CEOs are dying. Natural causes or murder?

I’m afraid I can’t say the same, Tim. Once I start a suspense, it’s really hard for me to stop and go to sleep. Now give me a craft book and it’s a different story. Sometimes I’ll read one so I can fall asleep. lol I will have to pick up Rachal Dylan’s book!

I had to give a shout out to Rocky Top, and of course I sang along and bounced and clapped appropriately. But here in Tennessee we also yell a big “Woo” after good Ole RockyTop.

I love how even in your photo of the dark clouds and down feelings, the sun was either getting ready to burst or go down there on the right. Great is His faithfulness. That Scripture is perfect and a true life-saver.

Yes, I have read Final Approach and it is powerful!

“The shrill ring of my mobile phone jolted me awake at 2:00a.m., a haunting prompt that emergencies seldom emerged in daylight.” This is the first line of Canyon of Deceit by Di Ann Mills. It’s going to be another page-turner.

Our impromptu meeting was awesome, Barbara! So glad I accidentally pulled of the highway and discovered I was in you town! I told you I was listening to Canyon of Deceit, but I was actually listening to Facing the Enemy! It’s a great book, too.

I read and enjoyed Final Approach. I am interested in hearing your take on Rachel Dylan’s new book, Tim. I have my eyes on it.
“Who’s ready to get married?” Gigi Franklin said in a sing-song voice as she slid into a chair across from her best friend, country music superstar Callie Jackson.

Gloria et al, Rachel has yet to disappoint me. She keeps the action moving, and her character development is well executed. Samira and Jalen (a guy) are FBI partners working the case. Quinn is the high powered female attorney who is successfully defending these large companies. The first issue is whether the CEOs of the last three companies she defended died from apparently natural causes, or were actually murdered. If they were murdered, the common denominator appears to be attorney Quinn. She must be OK since she has an orange tabby cat named Felix, right? I’m rating this as one of best Christian suspense books I’ve come across this year (and I’ve read some really good ones).

Tim and Gloria, I agree! Rachael never disappoints! They are very well-written!

I love the light shining through the dark clouds. It’s a reminder that God’s light brightens even our darkest times!
I am eagerly awaiting Lynette Eason’s book Final Approach. I am on the wait list at the library and the list is long. Lynette is another favorite author!
I am reading Who Is My Neighbor by Creston Mapes. “It was just minutes before the wedding ceremony on a damp, frigid December evening in Portland, Oregon,”
Barbara, I can picture you singing and clapping along to Rocky Top. Woo! With UT football fast approaching I’m sure we’ll soon get our fill of this song! Lol

We’ve been seeing clouds almost constantly over the last few days with Hurricane Erin somewhere off the east coast. About an hour north, they experienced flooding in parts of Roanoke, VA, last night. I love the pictures of clouds and the way you match Bible verses with them. If my son agrees, I will send you a photo that he took the other evening on the way to their church.

I placed a hold on Final Approach at our library last night, so I hope to get to read it soon. I started proofreading a book last evening, so I can’t share its first line. However, I don’t think I’ve shared this one from Jody Hedlund that I read some time back. The book is Wishing for the Rancher’s Love and is the last one in her High Country Ranch series.

“I’m going as fast as I can.” Clementine Oakley purposefully stirred the boiling caramel mixture slower.

I’ve enjoyed listening to Rocky Top many times. On the Blue Ridge Parkway less than two hours from home, one of the overlooks is at Rocky Knob. When we go up that way, I always joke about going to Rocky Top.

Edward, I think we tried to go there…but the road was closed due to a rockslide from Helene…but it could’ve been the place we went on the Parkway and I’ll ask the friend who took me there–at any rate we were socked in. I hope to return and get a really good view of the mountains then.

I have not read Final Approach although it sounds like I need to. I am between books but will be starting an ARC of Their Texas Christmas Redemption by Mindy Obenhaus. This is a Love Inspired book. This was book mail today.

It is always good to hear Rocky Top.

    1. Dottie

Thanks for the Rocky Top song!! Like Barbara, I always add the “Woo!” after “good ole Rocky Top”. That song always makes me wish I could clog, and will be hearing it a lot over the next few months with football returning.

I have not read Final Approach but it is on my TBR list, I love her books. I did look up the Rachel Dylan’s book, Death Follows Her, and saw it is on KU, so it is next on my list. Thanks Tim! So little time for all these great books.

Patricia, are you still here in Sevierville? My husband is singing at a campground in Pigeon Forge Sunday morning if you’d like to come by, let me know.
Thanks for the photo and verse also, it’s always good.

Dottie, I wish I could’ve come. I actually left the Smokies on Friday and drove to my sister’s. It’s Sunday evening now and i just got home. It’s one reason I haven’t answered comments–my sister and I talked until 2 pm yesterday, still in our pjs. Great visit.

Thanks, Lisa! That was my daughters name…well, Elisa. Her birthday was Thursday. And I have discovered audio! I listened to one of DiAnn Mills’ books on the drive home and will be reviewing it Friday. 🙂
