Cold Case Killer Profile by Jessica R. Patch is this week’s Reader Friday. Here’s the first line: “Any other woman might recoil at the chilling howl of the cunning and opportunist coyote, but not Brigitte Linsey.”
But first the photo and Scripture. I love this photo of the sunrise I took when I was on a cruise. It always reminds me that just as the sun comes up every morning, God’s provisions are also fresh every morning.
Now for Cold Case Killer Profile by Jessica R. Patch. Here’s the cover and back copy:
The desert can hide many secrets…including murder.
Searching for the perfect morning landscape to paint leads forensic artist Brigitte Linsey straight to a dead body—and a narrow escape from the Sunrise Serial Killer still on the scene. Now she’s become unfinished business and new prey. Working with FBI special agent Duke Jericho could mean putting the murderer away for good. However, it’s just a matter of time before this diabolically clever predator turns his hunters into the hunted…

My take:
This was a great read! And if you enjoy stories with twists and turns and suspense, you’ll love this one. It kept me up past midnight two days in a row! It would’ve only been one night if I hadn’t had to get up early the next morning. Cold Case Killer Profile was hard to put down.
The heroine, Brigette Linsey, was strong in the face of a serial killer after her, but still able to lean on Duke Jericho–don’t you love that name! And Duke was great as the hero. Certainly not perfect, and he didn’t want to fall in love with Brigette, but her honesty, gentleness, and humor kept drawing her to him.
For once I didn’t know who the killer was until the very end even though Jessica R. Patch left me clues. This is a great suspense novel from Love Inspired Suspense that will satisfy even the pickiest suspense reader!
You can find buy links here, and it should be available at Walmart unless they’ve sold out–her books go very fast.
Leave a comment (and can be the first line of whatever book you’re reading), and I’ll enter you in a July drawing for a book from my library! Could even be my latest book–Deception, Natchez Trace Park Ranger, Book 4, which will release on August 2!

Pat, if this suspense writing doesn’t work out for you, you could have a career as a great photographer. Well, you could, but I’m glad you’re really successful at writing. That Scripture is one we need every day.
“Help! I’m drowning in a deluge of promising TBR books!” the first thoughts of me as I find them releasing faster than I can read them. “Cold Case Killer Profile” is yet another one of them. But, that’s not what I’m reading now. Instead…
“Daniella took off running, Zara at her heels. They pounded up the stairs and down the end of the hall, almost colliding with Sam as he plunged out.” is the first line from the introduction to “Undercover Assignment” by Dana Mentink; a part of the multiple authored Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit series. I picked the Intro rather than the chapter 1 first line because Intro first line capture the excitement of the book. The chapter 1 first line doesn’t do that. I’m declaring this “Break the Rules Friday.” 🙂

Thank you, Tim. I love taking photos and doing pottery, but I love writing more…I’m working on a short novella that will be in an anthology and am pleased with the way it’s coming together.
Delightful photo! It had to be amazing seeing that sunrise over the water while on the cruise. The Scripture is perfect. I started singing Morning Has Broken as I absorbed the scene before me.
“FBI Special Agent Julianna Jameson glanced at the alert on her phone. ‘Hostage situation in progress,’ she murmured, reading the text aloud.” This is the first line of Lynette Eason’s, book, Crossfire.
I listened to the podcast as I sipped on my coffee. I did learn one thing new about you! 🙂

Fab review, Patricia, and thanks for leaving a link to the podcast. Here’s the first line from the book I’m reading: “Addie Greyborne swiped at the condensation and pressed her nose against the cold glass.” -Lauren Elliott, To the Tome of Murder.

I love that first line, Gloria!
Great picture and verse.
I’m like Tim: I can’t keep up with all the new releases, especially when I receive a proofread job or a first read to do. I have to put those ahead of the new releases.
I’m reading Sunburst by Susan May Warren. Others may have already shared the first line since the book was released over two months ago. But here it is:
Ranger wasn’t here to get into trouble, but wow, she was pretty. And clearly his brother Colt noticed too.

Another beautiful picture. The verse fit’s it so well. The Lord is so faithful! I have Jessica’s book in my TBR pile. Or maybe that’s tower. So many good books to read. Looking forward to reading this one soon. I’m reading the Italian Ballerina by Kristy Cambron. Never open a locked door unless your certain death doesn’t lurk behind it.

Hi Lucy! It’s a great story, isn’t it? 🙂
This book sounds good!! I look forward to reading it. Such a beautiful shot of the sunrise. Since pictures never do them full justice, it must have absolutely amazing in person!
Author
It was absolutely amazing in person, Diane! Ever since I was a little girl I’ve wanted to capture a sunrise on canvas. Since I’m not much good with paints, I settled with capturing it with a camera. 🙂
