Wacky Crimes ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question, New Books 39 Comments

Wacky Crimes is this week’s Mystery Question. I thought I’d switch it up this week…just in case you were getting bored with the crazy state laws. lol

But first the photo. I took it last week when it was a little hazy out, and it’s the first full moon after the Spring Equinox, heralding Easter. And, just in case you wondered how Easter is determined each year: it’s the first Sunday after the first full moon after the first day of spring. That is a tongue twister. 🙂 And I read that verse somewhere this past week. After I took the photo, I knew it was the one I wanted to use.

Now for this week’s More Crazy Laws #32. Three true laws are true, one made up. Can you guess which one?
  1.  Reading a comic book while driving is against the law here. (Oklahoma)
  2. You have to have a regulation clothesline to hang out your wash.
  3. This state will not tolerate anyone taking a bite out of another’s hamburger. (Another Oklahoma entry)
  4. Dishes must drip dry. (Oregon)

And the one I made up is…#2. Congrats to all who guessed correctly!

Now for this week’s Wacky crimes. Three true laws are true, one made up. Can you guess which one?
  1. When the sheriff’s department in a county in the South featured the arrest of a car thief on Tiktok, he sued them for embarrassing him.
  2. A man is in jail after being caught trying to sneak INTO a jail. Seems he wanted to sell drugs to the inmates.
  3. A man dressed as Tigger broke into a Nebraska vape store and bounced around the store, swiping about $500 worth of goods.
  4. An emergency dispatcher received an unusual call just before noon Monday when a motorist reported he was driving drunk and didn’t know what he was doing.
Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answers in the comments and I’ll enter you in an April drawing for a $10 gift!

March’s winner of a book from my library is…Judy!

Wacky Crimes is this week's Mystery Question. Four wacky crimes, three are true and I made up one. Can you guess which one? Leave your answers in the comments on my blog and you might win a $10 gift card! Share on X

I relate to the moon. I realized I am nocturnal at about 8 years old. I would get caught reading library books in the closet with a flashlight. A favorite song of mine is In the Wee Small Hours by Frank Sinatra. The moon picture is outstanding. Thank you! I’m guessing # 1

Hi DJ! Thankfully I never had to use a flashlight to read by. My parents were great about letting me read half the night–of course, I never required much sleep so they didn’t have trouble getting me up the next morning. lol

Hi MS Barb. No, I haven’t been hacked but my spam filter didn’t catch a spam comment…I hope it catches up since I’ve resisted putting a captcha requirement on my blogs. Maybe there won’t be anymore! And we’ll see next week if it’s #4…

That is just a marvelous shot of the moon, Pat, especially with the branches in front and the light around it. Clever.

Number 2 reminded me when while during college, my two friends were hosting a Bible study on Friday nights at the local women’s jail. They invited me to go. Somehow we all asked the sheriff if we could host a picnic, do the Bible study and cut hair the following week AND spend the night in the cells with the prisoners. He was shocked, stating no one ever asked this question before, but agreed. So the following Friday, we loaded up all the food goodies etc. and headed to the jail. We had our picnic in the jail yard with a guard holding a shotgun on us. Then, we had the Bible study and cut hair. At 10:00, bedtime. And I will say, I was a bit nervous. One girl opted not to stay, but Monica and I did. The jailer peered through the bars and said, “Are you ladies sure you want to stay here all night? Once these bars lock, there’s no getting out until 9.a.m.” We did. There was also no sleep for us as the lightbulb swayed over our heads and besides, I was too nervous to sleep. But, I will say, it was a great experience! However, once was enough!

I guess I’m going with #1, although I did get several chuckles on these.

I agree with MS BARB, I do think you have been hacked. That weird post is on here and I am still Di Ann. 🙁

I don’t know that I would’ve spent the night in a jail, Barbara! You were very brave. I did help serve Thanksgiving dinner at our local jail and while I wasn’t nervous, evidently I looked like I was because one of the inmates kept reassuring me. Actually, I was too busy to be nervous. lol
I do hope I fixed the spam comment problem! And we’ll see next week if it’s #1.

It’s kind of creepy that the inmate was reassuring you, even though you weren’t nervous. Seems like they were pretty in tune to the people serving. Being the recipient of that perceptively would have made me nervous. lol You were brave, too! Thankfully, we’re both on the outside now. Ha!

Hopefully, the spam problem is fixed. The last time that weird post showed up, I took a pic of it. I saw it earlier, like Ms Barb, but it is not on there now. I still have the pic of the other one saved, if you need to see it. If so, let me know.

Actually, he was really nice. And yes, hopefully the spam problem is fixed…and I still don’t understand why your email comes from DiAnn Mills!

I haven’t been very successful on my guesses lately! This week I’m going with number 4 because I think even if you’re drunk you’d know better than to call 911 while behind the wheel of a car.

You’d think, wouldn’t you, Priscilla! We’ll see…actually you wouldn’t believe how hard it is to come up with one that’s as good as the real ones. lol We’ll see next week if it’s #4.

I like the photo. It’s seems a bit spooky to me for some reason, but the verse is well chosen.

#1 Certainly possible, especially these days.
#2 A person’s got to be pretty dumb to break into jail for any reason.
#3 Tigger just broke me up.
    #4 I envision this happening.
All crazy, but I think you made up #1.

Prayer request: Tomorrow I will be having cataract surgery in my left eye. Next week will be for the right eye. Thanks.

    1. Barbara Diggs

Tim, praying for your cataract surgery. I had mine done about 4 years ago. So helpful, but all the drops really control your life for awhile. lol

Love your logic, again, Tim! Will be praying for your surgery in the morning. I’ve had both…I love not having to wear glasses! And we’ll see if it’s #1 next week…

Interesting photo! I actually saw a similar one – minus the scripture verse of course – on a paperback book in the past.
    I’ll guess #3. I can see #1 happening. Lol
    Prayers for you Tim!

  7. Ms. Dottie

The moon photo is awesome and I love the verse you picked for it!
Tim, good luck with the eye surgery, I had both mine done back in September, still a little sensitive to sunlight but I love having no glasses except readers!
Barbara, you were a brave girl and that sounds like the makings for a good book!

Patricia, I have also wondered if you have been hacked. I would see comments and it would be nothing but letters and numbers and symbols. Just thought it was strange……
I’m going with #4 , it was a toss up between it and #1. I just can’t imagine already being drunk before noon, that would make for a long day !!

  8. Edward Arrington

That’s a neat picture of the moon. That would make a nice picture for a book cover. I like the way the verse fits.

My first inclination was 4, but I realized I was thinking in terms of it being true. In today’s legal climate, I think #1 was surely made up. It’s hard to imagine the police posting an arrest on TikTok. However, I will say that we have a local TV station that is probably on about the same level as TikTok. They would rush right out to get that on TV. Years ago, our son dated a young lady from another high school (she’s been his wife now for over 25 years). He left his school one afternoon and drove to her school to see her for a few minutes before going to work. As they were driving back toward town, she was slowing down for a traffic light. He somehow failed to realize that and bumped into the rear of her car when she stopped. The joker from the local TV station was right there in a matter of minutes. He thought for sure that he had a big story about boyfriend drives his car into the back of his girlfriends car. Fortunately, her uncle happened to be stopped at the same light and quickly chased the jerk from the TV station away.

  9. Erika Luther

Pretty picture. The verse fits it well. I’m going to guess #1. I can’t imagine a sheriff’s department being so unprofessional and tacky!

Beautiful verse and photo as always!
These are fun to guess too! I’m going to go with #3, surely a clerk would have been suspicious of bouncy Tigger.
