Wacky and Crazy Crimes — Mystery Question

Wacky and Crazy Crimes; Ps 73:26

Wacky and Crazy Crimes is this week’s Mystery Question. First of all, I wasn’t sure I’d get this post out–I helped with the Cake Walk at our church’s Harvest Festival last Sunday, and one of the participants shared his flu germs with me…Wednesday morning when I woke up, I felt as though I’d been run over by a little Mac truck. By Friday, it was like I’d been hit by two humongous Mac Trucks…

But first the photo and Scripture verse. I took this photo while I was in Florida. I love the way the sun breaks through the clouds. And I’ve been meditating on this verse while I recover from the flu.

Now for last week’s Mystery Question–Goofy Crimes. As usual three are true and I made one up. Can you guess which one?
  1. A man walked into a Wal-Mart store and bought a vacuum cleaner and microwave for $476. He then attempted to pay for it with a million-dollar Monoply note. After demanding $999,524 in change, the store manager called police who arrested him.
  2. Just as a bungling burglar successfully broke into a home, his cell phone alerted him that his phone was going dead. He plugged it into one of the homeowners charging stations and went about the business of burglarizing the house. Then the homeowner returned unexpectantly and he escaped out the window…leaving his phone behind. It wasn’t long before the police tracked him down.
phone on charge at the house of one of his victims.
  3. An author wrote a crime novel that became a bestseller and received a lot of publicity. However, police found many of the details about the murder in the novel eerily similar to what they knew about an unsolved case on their books so they investigated. Turns out the author not only knew the victim but was the last person known to see him alive…in the end the author was convicted of murder.
  4. A man decided to rob a muffler shop. He entered the store and demanded all the money, but there was a problem. Most of the money was in the safe and only the manager knew the combination and he was out. Being the smart robber he was, the man decided to come back later. To save himself some time, he left his cell phone number with the employees and told them to call when the manager returned.
And the answer is…the popular #3. Congrats on all who guessed correctly!
Now for this week’s Mystery Question–Wacky and Crazy Crimes. As usual three are true and I made one up. Can you guess which one?
  1. A thief stole two toes from an art exhibit featuring human anatomy. When asked why he did it, his reply was he just couldn’t help himself.
  2. Then there was the man who walked into a drugstore and stole $1500 worth of bubble gum by dumping the store’s supply of gum in a black garbage bag and then took the bag to a waiting cab. Not once, but twice.
  3. People on a mission to arrest cops on behalf of the self-proclaimed true leader of Canada ended up being arrested instead. It seems this self-proclaimed leader thought she could make “citizen’s arrests” on members of the police department for enforcing COVID-19 restrictions, like mask mandates and business closures.
  4. “You now have a VIP pass–that’s what correctional officers told the woman trying to break into a local jail to see her boyfriend. She was discovered tangled up in the wire she’d cut to get into the compound.

Whenever I read that scripture I want to burst into song. I’ve sung it many times in church.
I’m going to guess #2. Does a store really have $1500 worth of bubble gum? Really? In the daylight, a garbage bag, twice, in a cab?? So many unanswered questions…

I’m sorry to hear you’ve been sick. Get better soon! Number 3 is too crazy to be fake. I’m going with number 4 because I think wire springs apart when it’s cut, so she wouldn’t get tangled up in it.

Pat, that photo is gorgeous! The verse you chose is so encouraging.

My prayers are for your speedy recovery from the flu. It seems to be earlier in some parts of the country this year, and perhaps more severe. Last month I read that 40% of the students in one San Diego high school were out with the flu. Got my shot last Friday.

I believe you made up #4, though all of them are just nuts! Why would she need to break in to see her boyfriend? Visitors were not allowed?

Sadly, I can see all of them happening. #1 I knew a guy with a foot fetish, so no on this one.
#2 That is an awful lot of bubble gum, but I’ve seen some donations that drug stores make to charities, so I guess not.
#3 People are crazy these day, so I can see them running around attempting a “citizens arrest.” Another no,
#4 I would think surveillance would have noticed her as soon as she approached the property…and long before she cut the wires. So, going with #4 HOWEVER, they are all crazy!!! I think you succeeded in your task.

This photo ministers to my heart. It’s perfect for many reasons. Gorgeous! Refreshing! Happy and comical. Here’s why. Look at the very top. There’s a grump face in the clouds. Then notice that spectacular sun with the rays bursting from it. It’s nestled in the clouds and surrounded by trees. It’s such a comforting photo. To me, it represents that God wins, not grump face. The Scripture…well let’s just say, I needed this reminder as I have so desperately struggled to breathe this week. I’m copying it down!

I pray you are feeling a lot better by now. Psalm 23:3 NLT

Hi, Barbara! I wondered if you’d see Mr. Grumpy in the clouds… 🙂 And I love your logic in choosing your answer. We’ll see next week if it’s the correct one. Praying you can breathe better! And I am feeling better. Not a hundred percent but maybe 50%…well enough to sit on my deck and enjoy the warm weather.

Beautiful photo and verse, but sorry to hear about the flu. Hope you recover quickly.

I’ll vote for #1. (I figure if I keep choosing the same number every week, I’ll probably be right one of these times. 🙂

Gorgeous photo and beautiful verse Pat! I’m sorry you have had the flu and pray for God’s healing touch! I’ll guess #2. That’s a lot of bubble gum even at today’s prices. lol

I love the photo and verse. I particularly like the way the sun rays reach out in all four directions (not sure those are rays or if it is some kind of reflection on the camera lense but it works).

I trust you are feeling much better and will be over the flu soon.

I’m struggling with whether to keep “riding the same horse,” knowing it will win eventually, or switching to a new mount. I think the person in 1 must have had a lot of difficulty toeing the line while growing up. Eventually it led to completely stepping over the line and committing a crime – stealing toes, no less. If I had that problem, I would not want even more toes to keep under control. I agree with Tim on #4. Surely the jail had visiting hours. I may have been tempted to break into the nursing/rehab facility where my mother spent her last five or six weeks, since they were not allowing visitors and the only way we could communicate was by video chat. She couldn’t see the screen on the phone and had great difficulty hearing us. I might could have seen her another time or two before she passed if I had broken in. However, I think breaking into a jail to visit a boyfriend is beyond loony. Surely, you made that one up.

I’m glad you enjoyed the photo and verse, Edward! You think he had a hard time toeing the line? I would agree. lol. We’ll see if you should’ve stayed on the same mount or made a good choice to switch next week. 😉
