Terribly Bungled Crimes is this week’s Mystery Question. You would not believe how many of these badly executed crimes I found on the ‘net. But first the photo and scripture.

This photo of a lighthouse was taken on my last cruise back in 2019. Edward Arrington’s comment about lighthouses reminded me of this photo in my library and I thought it’d make a good meme. And I love the verse from 2nd Samuel–perfect fit!

Now for last week’s Funny Crimes Gone Awry. As usual, three are true, one is made up. Can you guess the false one?
  1. For three hapless drug thieves, it was their lucky day. These dumb criminals broke into a home and discovered three jars of cocaine. They took the jars home and snorted the contents. That’s when they discovered that the jars were in fact urns, and that they were snorting the cremains of the victim’s husband and two dogs.
  2. It never pays to rob a store your mother shops at. The robber thought the jewelry store would be an easy score, but he didn’t count on his mother shopping there when he decided to rob it. When she recognized him, she grabbed him by the ear and made him drop his gun.
  3. What would be the worst possible time to faint? Maybe in the middle of robbing a bank? The teller called 911 for the helpless criminal, and then the suspect had the gall to hand a note to the teller demanding all her cash while they waited for the ambulance.
  4. This poor guy suffered a heart attack and thought he was going to die, so he confessed to a 17-year-old murder. But then he didn’t die and got sentenced to prison for life instead.

And the answer is…#2. Congrats on all of you who guess correctly–#2 was the most popular answer. 😉 I’ll have to try harder this week…

Now for this week’s Mystery Question–Terribly Bungled Crimes. As usual, three are true, one is made up. Can you guess the false one?
  1. The person robbing the convenience store wore a stocking over his face…unfortunately, he forgot to change out of his work uniform with his name above the pocket.
  2. A man passed a note to a bank teller on the back of one of his own checks. Unlike a lot of robbers who use their own checks to write a hold-up note, he was clever enough to blackout his name. Obviously, he didn’t realize the numbers on the bottom of the check would lead the FBI to him.
  3. Police were called to a mini-mart, where they found a man trying to break in. They chased him through the streets until both cops took a tumble. Seizing the opportunity, the man sought refuge on the grounds of a large building. The building was the Sing Sing Maximum Security Prison, where he was promptly nabbed by a guard.
  4. A Good Samaritan noticed an elderly man being robbed, so he jumped in and punched the thief. The thief was so upset, he called the police to complain.

Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answers in the comments and I’ll enter you in an August drawing for a book from my library.

I don’t know, Pat. These crooks are so dumb, they might need conservators to manage their lives. I guess they get that in prison. 🙂 I’m thinking #1 is the one you made up this week.

I love lighthouses. Great photo, and good match with the Scripture.

Thanks for the lighthouse picture, Pat. Great verse for it. Where was this?

I choose #3 again. It seems too convenient that both officers took a tumble. And the Sing Sing prison just happened to be there? Was this from a Keystone Kops episode?

Glad you enjoyed the lighthouse photo, Edward. Your comment reminded me last week that I had taken photos of a lighthouse as we left Nassau. And I laughed at your Keystone Kops comment. 😉

#3 because it is a maximum security. Wouldn’t he have noticed the barbed wire etc? And wouldn’t it be a bit isolated?

My guess this week is #4 with the logic that most people today wouldn’t want to get involved. I would certainly HOPE they would, especially a crime being committed against an elderly man.
Love the picture and the scripture you have with it. Lighthouses are one of my favorite things & living on the Oregon coast, we’ve seen many different ones here.
