As I write this, remnants of the two-inch snow we had Friday lingers. Snow that completely shut down the northern third of my state of Mississippi. I know, I know…those of you living in the frozen tundra of the true North are laughing about now. But to travel the icy roads around here is to take your life in your hands, even for those who have migrated to the South.
And I’ve warned all my friends who move here and are in the habit of driving on icy roads not to do it. They may be whizzes at navigating the icy spots, but we are not. And ice and snow do NOTHING to slow most of the drivers around here. That’s why we have so many accidents. Just wanted to let you know what is going on in my corner of the world. 🙂
Now for last week’s Mystery Question and answer:
A man was on trial for the armed robbery of a convenience store in a district court when he fired his lawyer. Even though the man was doing a fair job of defending himself, he was convicted. Why?
- The DA had a video that plainly showed not only the defendant’s face as he held a gun on the manager but his first name that was stitched above his pocket.
- He’d signed a confession and his excuse that he was too high to realize what he was doing didn’t fly with the jury.
- He accused the convenience store manager of lying and then said, “I should of blown your head off.” The defendant paused, then quickly added, “if I’d been the one that was there.”
- The robber discharged his weapon in the store and the recovered bullet matched a gun that was registered to the defendant.
And the answer is…#3. Proving once more that a man should never be his own lawyer. 🙂
Now for this week’s Mystery Question:
A man was arrested for possession of cocaine. Was it because:
- He offered a bag to an undercover officer.
- He took it to the police station and demanded that the person who sold it to him be arrested for selling him substandard cocaine.
- He put it up for sale on Craig’s List, thinking no one would report him. His first buyer was an undercover DEA officer.
- He got caught speeding and tried to bribe the highway patrolman with it.
Okay, Super Sleuths, which is the correct answer? Leave me a comment below with your guess. And if you have time and tweet, I’d greatly appreciate your help in promoting the blog!

#2 seems to be the magic number, Lisa. We’ll see next week if everyone is right.
I’ll bet it was #2, he went to the police station to report the crime, but again I like them all. And 2″ of snow? Where?

It looks like everyone likes answer #2 this week, Delores! And there were 2 inches of snow on top of my deck steps. 🙂 Of course some of that could have blown up there. lol
I also think it was 2. Our snow just melted. We have had temps below zero and bounced into the 60s a few days later. That’s Missouri for you! Nice today. Spring is just around the corner ( or two)!

Paula, we’re in the 60s today, too after a low of 9 on Sunday! And look how much longer the days are already!
I’m going to try # 2. It seems like something a stupid criminal would do. You are right being from the northern midwest I do laugh at 2 inches of snow shutting everything down. However, it is never a good idea to drive on icy roads no matter what you are used to.

Hi Mel. Thanks for stopping by. The main problem here in Northern Mississippi is that we don’t have the equipment or salt to take care of the icy conditions. So the roads are always a mess. Not that I blame our supervisors–we so seldom get the frozen stuff it doesn’t makes sense to keep salt on hand or buy the equipment. 🙂
Seems like all the comments above chose my answer too (two) (punt intended LOL).
I guess I will stick with 2 also. 🙂

That’s funny, Aimme! did you watch the ballgame last night? Thanks for stopping by.
Just to be different, I’ll say #3, but I hope it’s #2. That’s the best!

Hi Johnnie! Number two is a good answer. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
I’m going to give #4 a go! 🙂
Hi, Jennifer! It would be just like a dumb criminal to try to bribe an officer, wouldn’t it!
I’m guessing #4.

Duly noted, Caryl. Thanks for stopping by!
Pat, we had about 8 inches of snow – quite a lot from an initial forecast of snow showers. LOL! I’m guessing #4 on this one.

Edward, six years ago we had 9.5 inches of snow flurries on this day.
Tough choice again this week…lol!! You like to pick our brains don’t you Patricia 😉 I’d say #2 or #4 this time. Although #2 I have actually heard of this happening where someone wanted the person they bought drugs from arrested for selling them poor quality drugs. Somthing like that anyway…lol!
Funny, Trixi. I just have a hard time believing someone could be that stupid. lol.
