Things people leave behind has been intriguing, so I went with it another week. I hope you enjoy matching wits with me. As for the photo, I took it as I came out of the place where I exercise. There hadn’t been a cloud in the sky when I went into the building. I immediately thought of these verses.
Now for last Week’s Mystery Question. More Lost & Found: Four found objects. Three were actually left behind somewhere, one I made up. Can you tell which one?
- On New Year’s Eve, an Uber driver found an artificial hand a rather tipsy passenger had left behind.
- A professor lost one of her books five years ago and recently ordered a used one on Amazon. It turned out to be the exact one that she lost.
- Sixteen years after losing her wedding ring, a woman found it when she dug up her carrots.
- A man couldn’t find his car keys and was late to work because his two-year-old son had borrowed them and put them in his toy car’s ignition.
And the answer is…#1. 🙂 Congrats to everyone who guessed correctly. Oh, and here’s a photo of #4:
Now onto this week’s mystery question: Things People Leave Behind. As usual, three are true and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
- When a couple remodeled their hundred-and-fifty-year-old house, they discovered $50,000 hidden behind a wall, apparently left behind by the original owners.
- A man left his ice skates hanging on a small tree when he was a boy. More than fifty years passed before he found them again, embedded in the tree that had grown around them.
- Someone visiting Portugal left a small shark in a bathtub…
- A woman moved into her new house purchased at a foreclosure sale. In a closet, she discovered an unsigned watercolor. Curious about its value, she had it appraised. It turned out to be a Georgia O’keefe painting.
Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer and I’ll enter you in a January drawing for a book from my library…maybe even Obsession!
Today's Mystery Question has to do with what people leave behind...like maybe $50K. Can you beat me at my own game? Three stories are true, one is not. Leave a comment and you might win a book! Share on XDiscover more from Patricia Bradley

Hi Janeen. Glad you stopped by. We’ll see if it’s #4 next week!
I’m going to go with #3.
Author
Diana, it looks like the answers are going to be all over the board today. lol So glad you stopped by.
Going with #2 this time.
Author
Definitely all over the board now that all options have been chosen with yours, Linda. 😀 We’ll see if it’s #2 next week!
Pat, your photo has an ominous look to it. Just before I opened your post, something made me think of how God gets our attention. Sometimes with an unpleasant jolt, and sometimes with a still, small voice. What a coincidence!
People find the strangest things, don’t they? I believe you made up #4 this week.
Author
I thought the clouds looked ominous, too, Tim, but actually, they were only rain clouds. 🙂 I immediately thought of this verse. 🙂 We’ll see if it’s #4 next week.
I think you made up #3. The other 3 have lots of details; #3 does not. It’s just different from the others.

Like your logic, Suzanne. We’ll see if it works out…thanks so much for stopping by! Always good to ‘see’ you here.
I’m going with #1. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.
Author
That is so true, Terri. I’ve discovered I can’t use a true story unless I make some of it up. People won’t believe it. Thanks so much for stopping by.
I’ll go with 3. Yikes!
Author
Wouldn’t you hate to be the housekeeper who came to clean the room after the guest left, Jackie! Thanks so much for stopping by.
# 3 – after all – he couldn’t fly home with it…lol
Author
Once again, good logic, Betti. We’ll see…glad you dropped by!
I’m going to say number 3 is false, though they all sound plausible.

We’ll see, Megan! So glad you dropped by.

We’ll see, Deb! Good to see you here!
This is a hard one becauase they all seem like they could be true. I’ve seen pictures of things left in a tree & many years later, the tree grew around that object. I’ve also seen shows where people buy paintings or discover paintings in an old house or building that were worth a lot of money.
I’m going with #3: the shark in the bathtub. But again, this could totally happen!

Love your logic, Trixi! And we’ll see how it works next week. So glad you stopped by and brightened my day!
I enjoy watching the clouds, and have always liked those verses, especially the last one.
I have chosen #1. I know it’s rather unlikely that you repeated the positioning of your made-up one this week. However, the house would have been built in 1870 or earlier. $50K was a huge sum in those days. Unless the original owners lived there a very long time and accumulated the funds over a period of years, I think it’s unlikely the original owners placed the money there. A house that old probably had changed hands several times in 150 years. #4 is also highly suspect for several reasons. However, in the case of foreclosure, the lender often moves quickly to seize the property before the persons living there can do further damage, so the owner may not have had the opportunity to retrieve any of their belongings. Further, if they had a painting of value, why would they not sell it and pay their debt. Doesn’t make sense to lose your home and a valuable painting., but I have known people who have no integrity and no common sense.

As always, your logic intrigues me, Edward. You would make a good mystery writer! We’ll see next week what the answer is. Thanks for stopping by and making me smile. 🙂
I love the verse and photo–great match. #1 sounds like too much found $ but I doubt you’d chose #1 twice, so I’ll go w/ #3 but am not sure why you selected Portugal. They do have sharks in the area. I love these, keep it up.

Your logic is good, and we’ll see next week if it’s true. Thanks for stopping by.
Def a good verse for now. Well you certainly do a good job of stumping us. All plausible all possible phony bologna. So I’m going with #4. If it’s right I’ll see if my reasoning was correct.
Author
Hi Toni! We’ll see if your reasoning is correct next week. Thanks for stopping by!

4 – thanks for the chance

You’re welcome, Lynn. We’ll see next week if it’s #4.
Love the scripture and photo, Pat! I’m guessing #3 is false.
Author
Thanks, Caryl! We’ll see next week if it’s #3. 🙂
I have typed and retyped, thought of reasons why each could be the false one, so I will go with my first guess of #4.
Author
So glad you’re having trouble deciding, Angela! 😉 We’ll see next week if it’s #4. Thanks for stopping by and guessing!

These are so fun. Number 3 made me gasp, so I better go with the shark!
