Mystery Question: Surprising Items Left Behind

Surprising Items Left Behind; Matt 5:16

Surprising Items Left Behind will be this week’s Mystery Question, and there are some doozies! But first the verse and photo. Another picture snapped as I left the gym Friday. It was taken at 5 pm and that means days are getting longer! I immediately thought of the verse because the light was so bright.

Now for last week’s Mystery Question: Things People Leave Behind. As usual, three are true and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. When a couple remodeled their hundred-and-fifty-year-old house, they discovered $50,000 hidden behind a wall, apparently left behind by the original owners.
  2. A man left his ice skates hanging on a small tree when he was a boy. More than fifty years passed before he found them again, embedded in the tree that had grown around them.
  3. Someone visiting Portugal left a small shark in a bathtub…
  4. A woman moved into her new house purchased at a foreclosure sale. In a closet, she discovered an unsigned watercolor. Curious about its value, she had it appraised. It turned out to be a Georgia O’keefe painting.

And the answer is…#4. Number 1 actually happened to someone I know. The house they lived in had been handed down from one generation to the next, and it’s assumed the original owners had hidden the money. Congrats on all who guessed correctly!

Now for this week’s Mystery Question–Surprising Items Left Behind. Three of these items were left behind on an airline and ended up at Scottsboro, Alabama’s Unclaimed Baggage. The fourth one is fabricated. Can you guess which one I made up?
  1. A violin made by a student of Antonio Stradivari made its way to Scottsboro’s Unclaimed Baggage. While not a Stradivari, it was the next best thing.
  2. Someone left a live rattlesnake in a suitcase…it didn’t make it to the sales floor, by the way.
  3. Peyton Manning’s signed Indianapolis Colt’s jersey…this one didn’t hang around long.
  4. Not one, but three suits of armor, complete with face shields await buyers in Scottsboro.

Okay Super Sleuths, which of the Surprising Items Left Behind did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library…

Tim, can you actually believe that three of these are actually true? Glad you liked the way I matched up the photo and verse. Oh! By the way, Corinth is getting a miniature railroad set up! I can’t wait to see it.

As usual a gorgeous picture and an appropriate verse to go with it.
I am thinking #4 this time. 1, maybe, but 3? Lol

Wow! Great pic! If every Christian let their light shine that brilliantly rather than always trying to prove we are right, what a difference we would make. (Maybe that comment only applies to me.) I remember having some teachers in grade school who had everyone in the class memorize a verse of Scripture each week and on a given day, we would quote them in class. We each chose our own verse. This is one of the first ones I learned. Of course, “Jesus wept” was often the chosen verse for many. LOL!

I’m choosing #2, primarily because I don’t like snakes and would hope no one would ever get through security with a rattlesnake in their luggage. Tim, did you provide this idea to Pat. 🙂

So agree with your first statement, Edward. Sometimes I’m so busy trying to prove I’m right I don’t even listen to the other person. I wish we could go back to the time when a teacher could assign a Bible verse to learn. That was my experience as well. And you have a very good reason for choosing #2. lol And no, Tim didn’t suggest the idea. lol

    I’ll go with #3.
The picture and verse are so pretty and relevant.
Another author was talking about the true light today, too!

I’m hoping the made up one this week is the rattlesnake answer. What a surprise that would be…yikes!

Beautiful sunset! This morning when I got up, the sky was a brilliant reddish color. I can look out my front door which has a small window at the top to see what kind of day it will be (rain or no). The sailers motto came to mind “Red sky in morn’, sailors be warned”; certainly true today because it’s extra cold & we have some snow above 500 feet on the mountain passes. A little rain/snow mix here so I’d say that motto is definitely true!

I’ve discovered that the old sailor’s motto is true, as well, Trixi. But it’s a balmy 65° here today. Would that it be that the rest of the year! lol. We’ll see if it’s #2 next week. Thanks for stopping by.

I’m not good T these but I’ll guess with number 2. Just seems so off the wall for someone to do that.

I’m going to go with #2. I at least hope it is #2! I sure wouldn’t want to be the one to discover it!

I am going with #2 mainly because why would anyone travel with a rattlesnake in their suitcase and not in a enclosed glass!

I think I’ve gotten every guess wrong since I started playing your game! But I’ll go with #1. (It’s a warning to others that it’s probably not the right answer!)

Wow I guessed last weeks right. First time. That was cool to see. Love the verse and pic. You always have beautiful pictures. I’m going with #1 this week.

Congratulations, Toni! I love it when I can get the right answer. I think questions dealing with real people are the hardest! Ordinary people can be so crazy sometimes! lol And I’m so glad you enjoy the pictures and scripture verses.

I think it was #2. I knew a guy who SAW oil workers put an unconscious lynx in a suitcase they left in the middle of the Alaska Hwy. in a remote area. A car of tourists saw the suitcase, stopped, opened it, and highstepped away in very high gear!
