More They Did What? — Mystery Question

More They Did What? 2 chron. 20:22

More They Did What? is this week’s Mystery Question. I cannot believe how dumb criminals are and how hard they sometimes work to be criminals…

But first this week’s photo and Scripture. What better verse for 2022 than this one! After fasting and praying and hearing from God, King Jehoshaphat had enough faith to send the choir ahead of his soldiers. The victory was his without lifting a finger. If only we could learn this lesson!

Now for last week’s Mystery Question which was a little different. One dumb criminal. Four ways he was caught. This week you guess which one is the TRUE one. Here’s the crime: A man successfully broke into a bank after hours but he was easily apprehended. Was it because:
  1. He left his smartphone on the floor where the safe-deposit boxes are located, and his ex-wife was still listed under the In-case-of-emergency number. When the police called her, she affirmed he was the owner.
  2. He stole the bank’s video camera. While it was recording. Remotely. The police had a nice photo of him and quickly traced him by the camera’s location.
  3. He gave his girlfriend a diamond necklace from one of the safe-deposit boxes. And she promptly took a selfie of the two of them and put it on Facebook. Which then drew the attention of the police…
  4. He bragged to a friend about his haul, and his friend turned him in when a $5,000 reward was posted for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons who robbed the bank.

And the answer is #2. 🙂 Congrats to all who guess correctly.

Now for this week’s Mystery Question: A thief decided to help himself to some items in the trunk of someone else’s car. Unfortunately, he was caught. Which scenario do you believe happened? Again one is true and I made up the other three.
  1. He tried to sell the goods on the street and the owner of the car was his second customer who called the police.
  2. While he was rummaging around in the trunk, it slammed down, locking him in. When he was heard yelling and banging, the police were called and he was arrested.
  3. He broke into an unmarked police car, setting off the alarm, and the detective rushed out of the house and arrested him.
  4. Once again, one of those stupid Facebook deals–he posted photos of his new acquistions to a one-upmanship contest. Unfortunately, the police ran the contest, and they recognized the items as reported stolen.
Okay Super Sleuths, which is the real one? Leave your answers in the comments and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library!

I’ll go with #4 this week as being true. And that photo looks very similar to the real Moab, except maybe for the green trees in the foreground. Very similar, though. Are you going to tell us where that photo is?

Good photo, and associated verse. We could do with beating a few swords into plowshares about now.

Your “They did what?” scenarios could all have been taken from the news. I’m completely stumped. The police have used social media to run sting ops. A thief could easily have mistaken an unmarked police car as a target. Mistakenly trying to sell stolen goods back to the owner is certainly a possibility. About the only unlikely case is the guy getting locked inside a car trunk, and unable to escape. How could that happen with today’s cars? I’m going to say that #3 is the true case, and I have no logical reason for choosing it. 🙂

I’m not sure as they are all fairly believable. I am going to go with #3 as it seems like the most likely scenario to me.

I must confess, the exuberant YES and involuntary raised fist that spontaneously burst from within me, almost scared me to death! It WAS #2 last week! Sometimes simple things bring such joy!

Again, these were all good, Pat. I’m going with #4.
Great photo and Scripture. Our pastor spoke on this last week!

Am really enjoying reading about these “dumb criminals.” Thanks for a more light-hearted scenario.

Leigh, I’m enjoying researching these dumb crimes and glad to find the more lighthearted ones…didn’t like the cons and won’t be doing those again! Thanks for stopping by and we’ll see next week if it’s #4.

I choose #1. It takes the least stretch to imagine this one actually happening.

I agree about the verse being a good way to start the year. When we get serious with God, He will get serious with us and do far more than we could ever imagine possible.

Looking at all of these and it’s a real toss up between 3 & 4, I just can’t decide between the two! I think trying to find the true statement is harder for me to guess than the false one…lol!

And I see I actually guessed correctly last with….yay! I should get a gold sticker 😀
