More Stupid Criminal Stories is this week’s Mystery Question. As last week, these are some I posted waaaay back. So, maybe like me, you’ve forgotten them. I now have around 74,000 words…
But first the photo. This is another photo I took in Israel. If I’m not mistaken it’s of the Golan Heights. I hope to return to Israel one day in the near future…I thought the verse was very fitting!
Now for last week’s Mystery Question. Four dumb criminal stories, three true, one made up. Can you guess which one?
- Moments after robbing a bank, the robber jumped into a car, shouting, “Get away quick, before the cops come.” He failed to notice that the car he was counting on to spirit him to safety was a *police* car.
- A burglar decided to rob his next-door neighbor and was caught red-handed by the neighbor when he returned home. The burglar fainted and when he came to, pretended that he’d been sleepwalking.
- A psychiatrist was listening to a patient talk about her sex life when he pulled out a gun and shot her to death. As he explained to the court, “I just couldn’t take those nut cases anymore.”
- A man convicted of robbery worked out a deal to pay $9600 in damages rather than serve a prison sentence. For payment, he provided the court a check — a *forged* check. He got 10 years.
And the answer is…#2! Congrats to all who guessed correctly.
This week I found four more stupid criminal stories that are too stupid to be true…except three of them are. It’s up to you to figure out which one I made up.
- A man who tried to hold up a bank that was no longer in business and had no money.
- A robber ran into his mother while making his getaway. She turned him in.
- A robber had his gun pointed at the teller when he noticed a surveillance camera pointed at him. He froze then fired, destroying the camera, which was on a live feed with his image forever captured.
- A holdup man thought that if he smeared mercury ointment on his face, it would make him invisible to the cameras. Actually, it accentuated his features, giving authorities a much clearer picture.
Okay Super Sleuths, which is the made-up one? Leave your answers in the comments and we’ll see what the correct one is next Tuesday.

I guess I’m going with #3.

Hi Diana! We’ll see next week.
Please let it be #4 – too funny to be true.
Author
I’m partial to that one, too, Mary. I can totally see a dumb criminal thinking that…we’ll see next week!
I’m guessing number 2 because I like the idea of a mom doing what’s right!
Author
I like that one, too, for the same reason, Vera. We’ll see next week.
Good picture and a powerful verse. I choose #1. All four of these robbers were idiots making bad choices. I might be reading the first one wrong but I take closed to mean out of business. I can’t imagine someone not being able to recognize that a place is closed.

Love your logic as always…I’ll have to go back and look…hold on a sec…yep, the bank was out of business. 🙂 We’ll see next week if it’s #1.
Going with #1. However, all of these were good examples of dumb criminals.
Beautiful and peaceful picture. I imagine that Scripture is a good one to claim right now as you persevere on finishing up the book! Way to go on the 74,000! “You shall not be shaken!”
Bless you!

Thanks, Barbara. I’m now at 75,450 😀 I thought they were great examples of dumb criminals. lol
Woo Hoo, yay you! Keep those numbers moving upward!

Trying, Barbara, trying. lol
Your Scripture choice for the photo says it all. Trust only God for our protection. What better advice can be given.
Oh wow. These would be robbers are sure dumb. Every one of these made me laugh. The robber in #3 must have been really new at this business. Otherwise, he would have scoped the place out for surveillance cameras first. Smile, you’re on Candid Camera!
Oh. I forgot to say that #3 is my choice for the one you made up, Pat.

I’m glad you liked my Scripture choice, Tim. And I love your logic for choosing #3. We’ll see…
#1 because if it is out of business, it would be closed and he couldn’t enter it to rob it

Love your reasoning, Shelia…we’ll see next week.

Praying the writing is continuing to go well! I can’t wait for your new release!!
These criminals!! I’m going to guess #2, surely a bank robber wouldn’t try to hold up his mom’s bank…. But maybe so.

Love your reason for picking #2, L. 😉 We’ll see Tuesday.
