More Strange Happenings ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 44 Comments

More Strange Happenings is this week’s Mystery Question. I had fun with bizarre coincidences last week, so I thought I’d give it another shot this week…

But first the photo and verse…I figured you were tired of snow photos so I went looking in my photos and realized I hadn’t used this one. And I love this verse. It reminds me of how faithful God is.

Now let’s look at last week’s answers for Coincidences and Other Things. Three of the coincidences are true.  And I made up one–Let’s see if you can guess which one I made up.
  1. The US President in 1841 has a living grandson.
  2. John Wilkes Booth’s brother saved Todd Lincoln’s life.
  3. Two Dennis the Menace cartoons by different artists debuted on the same day on two different continents.
  4. Abraham Lincoln and Charles Darwin were born on the same day and exchanged letters about evolution.

And the answer is…#4.

About #1, here’s what the grandson had to say: “Both my grandfather — the president — and my father, were married twice. And they had children by their first wives. And their first wives died, and they married again and had more children. And my father was 75 when I was born, his father was 63 when he was born,” Harrison Tyler in 2012.

Now for this week’s More Strange Happenings. Three of the following statements are true and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. A meteor hit the home of a family with the last name “Commette.”
  2. Two seatmates on the same flight discover that they have the same name and the same birthday.
  3. One woman survived the TitanicBritannic, and Olympic shipwrecks.
  4. When a 10-year-old girl released a red balloon, it traveled over 100 miles and landed in the yard of another 10-year-old girl with the same name.

Okay Super Sleuths…which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library. And next week I’ll be returning to the crazy laws. 🙂

That’s an interesting Psalm you matched with your absolutely beautiful photo. A sunrise or sunset would appear to be located over the ends of the earth, so people who live there might see that sky all the time. At least, that’s the thought the verse conveys to me. The delight of seeing God’s beautiful skies all the time.

I read more than once that “rare” coincidences are not always as rare as they seem. I think that applies here as well. The problem is they all could be true (or not). My guess is you made up #2. Now, if that had the same birth date (including year) that would be monumental.

Awww! God’s handiwork really shouts in His sunrises and sunsets, doesn’t it? Thank you for sharing!
You’ve stumped me with these coincidences! I’m going to guess #1.
    Have a blessed week!

Oh my! That’s some brilliant photo. Do you even want to know what all I see in there? I will say this, there are a lot of eyes! Lol

These strange happenings were hard. There was another James and Barbara Diggs about ten miles from where we lived in Ft.Worth. People got us mixed up all the time. Then here in TN , when I lived here before in my early twenties, the local hospital kept calling me wanting me to pay for the baby I had. What baby?? Same name, same town, but NOT ME!! Had to get a lawyer to straighten it out. So, I think those name scenarios could have happened.

I think you picked #1, because it was the least chosen among the participants. lol, and I like the version of this word. This is my humble opinion. lol

Gorgeous painting by God that you were able to capture with your camera. I like that verse, but does “ends of the earth refer to the North and South Poles? I’m not going to be hanging out there to see what glories God displays.

I’m usually the odd one it seems. My choice is #3. After the terror of surviving the Titanic, why would anyone in their right mind ever get back on a ship? Okay, I know the saying about getting back on the horse after it bucks you off. But a third time?!?!?

Hi Patricia! I think I’m going to guess #2 this time. I think if someone sat down beside me with the same name and birthday, I would get suspicious!
Your photo and verse are beautiful .
