More Lawyer Gaffes #13 ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 41 Comments

More Lawyer Gaffes #13 is this week’s Mystery Question. First of all, I want to thank those who prayed for me. I truly felt them. It’s Sunday as I write this post, and I feel like I’ve turned a corner!

The photo was taken in Chattanooga as my sister drove along I-75. I thought the clouds were very pretty and different. And I love that verse!

Now for last week’s Mystery Question–More Funny Lawyer Gaffes #12. As usual, three are true and one is false. Can you guess which one?
  1. LAWYER: Now sir, I’m sure you are an intelligent and honest man–
WITNESS: Thank you. If I weren’t under oath, I’d return the compliment.
  2. LAWYER: Any suggestions as to what prevented this from being a murder trial instead of an attempted murder trial?
    WITNESS: The victim lived.
  3. Lawyer: “Isn’t it a fact that you have been running around with another woman?”
Defendant: “Yes, but you can’t prove it!”
  4. LAWYER: What is your brother-in-law’s name?
    WITNESS: Borofkin.
    LAWYER: What’s his first name?
    WITNESS: I can’t remember.
LAWYER: He’s been your brother-in-law for years, and you can’t remember his first name?
WITNESS: No. I tell you, I’m too excited. (rising and pointing to his brother-in-law) Nathan, for heaven’s sake, tell them your first name!

And the answer is…#3. Congrats to all who answered correctly!

Now for this week’s Mystery Question–More Funny Lawyer Gaffes #13. As usual, three are true and one is false. Can you guess which one?
  1. Lawyer: Is it true you identified the defendant in a lineup as one of four men who attacked you?
    Witness: Yes.
Defendant: She’s lying! There were only three of us.
  2. Lawyer: How many times have you committed suicide?
    Witness: Four times.
  3. Lawyer: And you check your radar unit frequently?
    Officer: Yes, I do.
Lawyer: And was your radar unit functioning correctly at the time you had the plaintiff on radar?
Officer: Yes, it was malfunctioning correctly.
  4. Lawyer: Were you alone or by yourself?
Okay Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments, and I’ll enter you in a June drawing for a Summer Garden flag! Winner of May’s drawing of a book from my library is…Paula Shreckhise!

And now for one of my all-time favorite songs:

I’m so glad you’re feeling better, Pat. Prayers are effective!
That photo looks ominous; like maybe a storm is brewing, but the verse gives comfort even for storms.

#1. Sometimes it’s better to keep your mouth shut.
    #2. But, none were successful.
#3. I’m sure a lot of speeders would concur.
    #4. That would be a big 10/4.
Sadly, I don’t think you made up any of them, though #1 gets the witness in the most trouble.

    Congrats, Paula!!

Gracious, these are unusual clouds. However, I do see a gigantic arm and right hand reaching heavenward. In fact, I saw another smaller right hand reaching upward as well. Then there’s the angel in a worship dance.

    I’m going with #1

    Congrats, Paula!!

I LOVE! LOVE! LOVE this song, too. I play it often to remind me of the goodness of God.

Continuing to pray for you. . . .

Glad you’re on the mend, Pat! I love the photo, and the verse is so comforting.

The last gaff made me LOL, but I can see someone misspeaking like that. I think the one you made up was number 2.

Glad to hear you feel you’ve turned the corner Pat! Just don’t push yourself, and take the time you need to recover fully. Prayers!
Beautiful photo and verse! Love to hear CeCe Winans sing The Goodness of God. Beautiful words and she sings it so beautifully! Thanks for sharing Pat!

So glad for answered prayers! I love the song. I recently saved it to my favorites after a friend had shared it to open a crucial meeting. God was truly with us that day.

The picture and first came at a great time. A young couple and their kids from our church were scheduled to fly to the Balkans yesterday for a three-year missions term, but were contacted that their plans were delayed shortly before they were scheduled to head to the airport. Today, after prayer and strategizing, the Lord has given peace, and they have a revised plan. I hope it’s okay that I shared the pic with them on WhatsApp.

    1. Aside from cold hard facts, nothing helps a lawyer more with his case than a big-mouthed defendant.
    2. Better not try again. Might not be anyone there next time to bring him back.
    3. Malfunctioning radar apparently can cause as much trouble as functioning radar.
    4. Alone in a roomful of people. There is a difference, it seems.
I have to choose #1 because it doesn’t appear the lawyer made a mistake.
