More Crazy Lawyer Gaffes #9 ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 37 Comments

More Crazy Lawyer Gaffes #9 is this week’s Mystery Question. First the photo and verse. I met with writer friends from my ACFW Memphis chapter on Friday night and Saturday morning at Pickwick Landing State Park in Tennessee. It was a wonderful time of fellowship and encouragement, and one reason I chose the verse.

Now for this week’s Mystery Question–More Funny Lawyer Gaffes #8. As usual, three are true and one is false. Can you guess which one?
  1. Lawyer: “Can you tell us what was stolen from your house?”
Witness: “There was a rifle that belonged to my father that was stolen from the hall closet.”
Lawyer: “Can you identify the rifle?”
Witness: “Yes. There was something written on the side of it.”
Lawyer: “And what did the writing say?”
    Witness: “‘Winchester’!”
  2. Lawyer:  “And you testified you were shot in the woods?”
WITNESS:  “No, I said I was shot in the lumbar region.”
  3. Lawyer: “Can you describe what the person who attacked you looked like?”
Witness: “No. He was wearing a mask.”
Lawyer: “What was he wearing under the mask?”
    Witness: “Er…his face.”
  4. Lawyer: “Did you blow your horn or anything?”
    Witness: “After the accident?”
    Lawyer: “Before the accident.”
Witness: “Sure, I played for ten years. I even went to school for it.”

And the answer is…#2. Congrats on all who guessed correctly!

Now for this week’s Mystery Question–More Funny Lawyer Gaffes #9. As usual, three are true and one is false. Can you guess which one?
  1. ATTORNEY: The youngest son, the 20-year-old, how old is he?
WITNESS: He’s 20, much like your IQ.
  2. ATTORNEY: Do you recall the time that you examined the body?
WITNESS: The autopsy started around 8:30 PM
ATTORNEY: And Mr. Denton was dead at the time?
WITNESS: If not, he was by the time I finished.
  3. LAWYER: Were you acquainted with the deceased?
    WITNESS: Yes, sir.
LAWYER: Before or after he died?
  4. LAWYER: Did you accompany the defendant to Nashville?
WITNESS: I refuse to answer that question.
LAWYER: Did you accompany the defendant to Philadelphia?
WITNESS: I refuse to answer that question.
LAWYER: Did you accompany the defendant to Las Vegas?
    WITNESS: No.
Okay Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments, and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library. April’s winner of Shattered Sanctuary is Charlotte S.
I hope you enjoy this medley with some of my favorite singers from back in the day.

Pickwick Landing State Park In Tennessee: do they have a campground there? Peaceful picture by the way. And what a star studded video! I especially miss Johnny Cash and Glenn Campbell.
I guessing #2 this week. And it’s just a guess for sure.

They do have a campground. One is near the dam and very pretty. They also have individual cabins and the Lodge where we stayed. And the restaurant there is nice. Also several other places to eat. 🙂 Can you tell I love it there? lol We’ll see next week if it’s #2.

Beautiful picture and perfect verse, Pat! I love the video, too. So much talent together in one place. This week I’m going with number 2 because it made me laugh the hardest.

I think it’s #1 this week. I’ve taken school classes to observe parts of court room trials. We couldn’t keep our composure if we heard some of these answers in real life!

Cool photo and great verse to match it for your conference.
That Country Music video had my favorites. Could not stop smiling!!!
Going with the courtroom theme, I found there was a Cat Named Sal (shout out to Johnny Cash) who was summoned to jury duty: https://www.nydailynews.com/2011/01/17/cat-is-summoned-for-jury-duty-in-boston-court-rejects-owners-appeal-to-disqualify-him/
Can you imagine the lawyers questioning him?!

    Now for the quotes…
#1. Got that IQ pegged about right.
#2. You do know what an autopsy is, right?
#3. Perfect answer to a dumb question.
#4. In this case, I’d say the witness was the dumb one.
I think you made up #4.

Pickwick looks like a delightful place, and being with delightful people makes it even more so!

    I’m going with #4.

Wow, that video brought back a lot of memories.

I’m guessing numero uno. They were all really funny! It’s a gloomy, cold, rainy day (I can’t believe I’m wearing a sweater in May!) so I really needed a good laugh. Thanks for that.

Nice picture and an uplifting verse. Good choice.

I spent more time trying to identify the singers than I did the dumb lawyer. “I Wanna Go Home” brought back some fond memories of when I worked at a bank data center when I was a college student. I often worked into the early morning hours because of my class schedule. A co-worker and I made up our own words about where we went to sleep before singing the chorus. I had to search for a while to identify Mel Tillis. I still haven’t figured out the guy near the end in the bright blue suit.

I’m going with #4 this week. I think you did a good job of making it unbelievable this week.
