More Crazy Laws Take 14 is this week’s Mystery Question. With the deadline breathing down my neck I love these crazy laws. I am making good progress on the book–a little over half done!! Thank you for the prayers!
But first the photo and verse. In honor of Israel, I wanted to feature a photo I took while visiting there in 2018. This was taken from Megiddo, often associated with Armageddon. It’s a beautiful place. I thought the verse was perfect for today.
Now for last week’s Mystery Question. Just like with dumb crimes, three of these laws are really on some state’s books, and I made one up. Note someone compiled this list in 2011 and some of the laws can be quite old. Can you guess which one I made up?
- You may not wear denim overalls down Noble Street in this town.
- It is illegal for men and women over the age of 18 to have less than one missing tooth visible when smiling in this state. (Arizona)
- In this state, nobody is allowed to ride a bicycle in a swimming pool. (California)
- This state mandates that all bachelors should be called master, not mister, when addressed by their female counterparts. (Illinois)
And the answer is…#1. Congrats on all who answered correctly!
Now for this week’s Mystery Question. Just like with dumb crimes, three of these laws are really on some state’s books, and I made one up. Note someone compiled this list in 2011 and some of the laws can be quite old. Can you guess which one I made up?
- In this state, every citizen is required to take a shower once a year
- Mourners at a wake may not eat more than three sandwiches.
- You cannot throw a bale of hay out of a second-story window in this town.
- This state doesn’t allow you to play a guitar while walking down the street.
Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments and I’ll enter you in an October drawing for a book from my library!

We’ll see, Diana!
I’m guessing #2

We’ll see next week, Gail.
Has to be #1 – surely.

Maybe…we’ll see next week, Mary.
Last week was hard for sure. This week I’m guessing number 1 because I think bathtubs were more common in homes for the longest time, not showers. So an old, obscure law would have used the word “bathe.”

Love your logic, Vera…we’ll see if it works for you as well as it does for Edward and Tim…
I think it’s #2.

Hi Linda! We’ll see!
Love the photo. #4 maybe?

Thanks, Sally Jo. We’ll see…
I’m guessing #2

We’ll see next week, Suzanne!
Excellent photo, Pat. There is beauty in God’s creation in good times and bad. The verse you chose is fitting for the struggle of Israel as well as us.
These lawmakers had way too much time on their hands after solving all the important issues, and have now turned to showers, sandwiches, and such. I will say you made up #4. Who would want to even live where you couldn’t enjoy a good guitar on the street?
I’m so glad you’re making great progress on your book. Can’t wait to read it!
Author
Thanks, Tim. I hate what’s happened over there.
Again, love your logic on the Mystery Question…we’ll see next week. I’m excited about the progress I’ve made on the book, too.
I’ll go with #2.

We’ll see, Jeanna!
Pat, the photo and verse brought tears to my eyes. How appropriate and comforting.
Oh mercy, these are all crazy while #2 is bizarre, I think it’s #4. I agree with Tim. Nothing like enjoying some good guitar music on the street.
Praying for the words to keep flowing and the fingers flying over the keyboard.

Thanks, Barbara! We’ll see if yours and Tim’s logic works next week…

We’ll see, Shelia!
I’m happy you are making good progress on your book! May the words continue to flow!
I love the photo and I agree you found the perfect verse. Prayers for Israel!
I’ll guess #1. If this is truly a law I can only hope everyone showers more often! Lol
Author
Thank you, Miss Mary! The words are flowing. 🙂 We’ll see next week if it’s #1.
I swear I’ve heard of #2 somewhere, so I’ll go with #4. It just makes the least amount of sense.

Love your logic, Joy. We’ll see next week!
This is one of my very favorite verses and I am praying for Israel. It is great to hear words are flowing. I am guessing #2.
Author
Me, too, Gloria on everything you said! We’ll see next week if it’s #2.
I’ll say #2 this week.
Thanks for remembering and standing with Israel. This week I think it’s #3 and tell us where. At least a person might feel somewhat safe there 🙂 Keep up the great writing progress!

Always standing with Israel, Delores! We’ll see next week if it’s #3.

Me, too, Judy. We’ll see next week if it’s #4.
I’m guessing #3. Thank you for sharing. Blessings

Hi Lucy! We’ll see next week if it’s #3!
I think I’m agreeing with Tim this week with #4, a lot of musicians have made extra money playing their guitars on the street, at least in TN and TX! I’m seriously hoping it’s #1, I can’t imagine!!
That’s a wonderful picture and verse, absolutely beautiful and so fitting right now. Good luck with the rest of your book!
Author
Thanks, Ms. Dottie. I’m at 51,000 words with 39,000 to go! We’ll see next week if you and Tim are right with #4.
Perfect scripture, Pat! Israel is forever!

We’ll see, Caryl!
I like the picture and Scripture verse. I think they are appropriate in view of all that is going on over there now.
I think you made up 4 this week. Strolling minstrels go all the way back to Bible times. Well, maybe David was running when Saul threw his spear at him, and he probably stopped playing when he started running. But, aside from that, what lawmaker would ever dare ban playing music in the streets.
Author
Yours and Tin’s logic are running parallel, Edward. We’ll see next week. I was actually on the mountain where Saul chased David around the mountain–it’s in the southern part of Israel, not too far from where the attack happened.
I’m going to guess # 4. These are fun. The verse is perfect for the picture.
Author
Thanks, Erika! I enjoy these, too! We’ll see if it’s #4 next week.

#3 though #2 comes in second place for a maybe….
Author
Hi Mary! We’ll see if it’s either next week!
I’m going to say #4 because I can’t even chew gum and walk at the same time….so to walk while playing a guitar would be impossible for me…lol! I don’t know, just thought that one was funny 😀
I love the picture and the verse. I remember you visiting Isreal and posting some of your pictures….it’s one place I would love to go to with my husband. Walking where Jesus or any of the Disciples did would be amazing!
Author
Trixi, the trip was amazing. It really changed the way I read my Bible. And just knowing I walked in the same place as Jesus was awesome. We’ll see next week the funny #4 is the correct answer!
#1?

We’ll see, MS Barb!
I’ll guess #1 this week

We’ll see if it’s #1 Tuesday, Megan!
Perfect photo and verse! We’ll all keep praying for Israel.
So glad the book is coming along! Can’t wait for its release; your books are ah-mazing!!
I’m going to guess #1 this week, although I’ve provided food for funerals where Law #2 would certainly have come in handy!
Author
Thank you, L! I’m thankful the book is coming along, too! And for the prayers for Israel. I am so burdened for them. And I agree with you about #2! lol We’ll see if it’s #1 next week.
#3 is my guess

We’ll see, Lisa!
