More Crazy Laws #63 ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 55 Comments

More Crazy Laws #63 is this week’s Mystery Question. I had fun with this one! And I think you did, too. One fun thing–the true crazy laws were all in the same state!

But first the photo and verse. A very good friend emailed me the photo of this beautiful rainbow. Rainbows make goosebumps on my arms every time I see one. God’s promise to us. And the verse is one I focus on when things aren’t going well. And when things are going well, too. I hope it blesses you the way it does me!

Now for last week’s More Crazy Laws #62. As usual, three are true and one is false. Can you guess which one?
  1. Don’t carry wire cutters in your pocket here..better still leave them at home. (TX)
  2. Do not use a feather duster on a building here. (TX)
  3. You must buy a $5 permit here to go barefoot. (TX)
  4. It’s illegal to publically wear house shoes on Sunday here.

I had no idea Texas had such crazy laws! And the answer is…#4.

Now for this week’s More Crazy Laws #63. As usual, three are true and one is false. Can you guess which one?
  1. It’s illegal to walk down the street here carrying a violin in a paper bag.
  2. Sorry kids, but you can’t put playing cards in your bike spokes to make it sound like a Harley here.
  3. It’s illegal to hire a trombone player to entertain when promoting an auction.
  4. Here it’s illegal to use gunpowder to cure a headache.

Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answers in the comments and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library!

Here’s a great song about peace by the Gaithers. They’re on the Sea of Galilee and reminds me of my time on that sea.

Your friend’s rainbow picture is amazing. That’s a verse I use to help me fall asleep at night when my brain doesn’t want to shut down.

I’m picking number 2 this week simply because it calls to my mind all the decks of cards I ruined with my bicycle spokes when I was a kid.

I love rainbows, too. This is quite lovely the ways the hues blend in with the sky. And amen to the verse. There is nothing like having the peace of God. . .and trusting Him!

I’m going with #4. I know gunpowder has been used to seal a wound, but for a headache. Oooh, I don’t know about that.

I recognized the Sea of Galilee immediately! Ah! Made me smile big time!

Beautiful picture! Are you like me? The rainbow draws my attention away from the clouds. Love the verse.

Some more challenging laws. I don’t think we were allowed to have playing cards when I was a boy. We used baseball cards. I wonder if that was illegal also. I used to hear it said that certain individuals didn’t have enough brains to blow their noses, but I never heard of using gunpowder for a headache. Maybe it’s illegal in Virginia. I prefer a saxophone, so I’m okay with no trombones to promote an auction. I’ll choose #1 since that’s the one that’s left. I don’t know if it’s a law but I would want something sturdier in which to carry my violin, if I had one.

Love your logic as always, Edward…and yes the rainbow draws my eye away from the dark clouds. I don’t remember if I ever used baseball playing cards in my spokes when I was a kid or not. We’ll see next week if it’s #1…

I meant to say that I always enjoy a good Gaither video. This one has been a favorite for years since way back when Bill, Gloria, and Danny sang it. Thanks for sharing it.

Oh, I love that photo. Yes, I’m a sucker for rainbows in photos. The verse reflects on God keeping His promises, and the rainbow is His seal.

#1. I don’t understand the reasoning for this law. Maybe it’s like carrying booze in a paper bag. You don’t want folks to think you’re a violinist.
#2. Oh, I don’t want this to be illegal! My friends and I used to do that all the time when we were kids. We even fooled my dad’s adult cousin, who then called my dad and chewed him out for letting me drive a motorbike!
#3. This seems ambiguous. It says nothing about the trombone actually being played; just can’t hire the player.
#4. Well, if anything, I would think gunpowder might give you a headache. Maybe that’s why it’s illegal.
I’m going with #2 as the one you made up. Loosen up and let the kids have a little fun.

There’s nothing quite like a rainbow as a physical reminder of God’s faithfulness and enduring promises!

Oh. My!! As a Texan I’ve broken at least a couple of these! Please don’t turn me in!!

I’m going to guess #3 this week.

I’m torn on these, but I’m hoping you made up #2. I think every kid that ever had a bike put cards, or we would cut out cardboard, on the spokes. I hope it wasn’t a law, but you never know!

I’m going out on a limb and saying #1 this week.

I love the rainbow picture. I grew up in the Rainbow Girls. I have a great fondness for rainbows to remind us of one of God’s promises.

The picture is very pretty. The verse fits it so well. Thank you for sharing the beautiful song too. I’m going to guess #2.

Beautiful photo! How blessed you are to have been on the Sea of Galilee!
Thank you for sharing the beautiful Gaither video.
All of these “laws” are funny but I’ll guess #3
