More Crazy Laws #39 ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 36 Comments

More Crazy Laws #39 is this week’s Mystery Question. I am simply amazed that I’m still finding crazy laws! I hope you enjoy these.

But first the photo and verse. I was out early this morning looking at my rose bushes and snapped this photo with raindrops. I had no idea it had rained before I got up, but I thought this was such a pretty sight! And the verse was in my Bible reading last week and I underlined it so I could find it. It’s almost like Numbers 6:23-24!

Now for last week’s Crazy State Laws #38. Three true laws and one made-up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. It is illegal to let a dandelion grow within the city limits. (CO)
  2. Here, it is unlawful for small boys to throw stones, at any time, at any place. (DC)
  3. Did you know it is illegal for anyone to give lighted cigars to dogs, cats, and other domesticated animals kept as pets in this state? (IL)
  4.  Squirrels have a right in this state to eat from bird feeders, so you can’t scare them away.

And the answer is…#4. Congrats to all who guessed correctly!

Now for this week’s Crazy State Laws #38. Three true laws and one made-up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. If you ever find yourself driving at night through rural parts of this state, you must stop every mile to send up a rocket signal.
  2. Here you can’t order wine and cheese because it’s against the law to serve the two together.
  3. In this city, you must share the road with cows—they have the same rights on the roads as motorists.
  4. When parking your elephant at a meter here, you must deposit the same amount of change as you would for a regular vehicle.

Okay Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answers in the comments and I’ll enter you in a May drawing for a book from my library!

Beautiful rose and verse! I think you made up number 4 because there can’t be enough elephant drivers in the U.S. to warrant a law about parking meters for elephants!

I’m also choosing #2 but I think these get crazier week by week. I can hardly imagine the faces of the legislators who enact such laws. That could be a story in itself, Pat, what was happening before they agreed on such legislation, let alone what happened afterward in their fair town/state . . .

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet, and photograph just as beautifully! Your photo could win prizes, Pat. The verse you chose is perfect.

    Let’s see…
#1. Some people would run out of rockets pretty fast; especially those long haul truck drivers.
#2. Can’t serve wine and cheese together? How uncivilized!
#3. Cows with same rights as motorists to the road? Do they have to pass a road test? Wear corrective lenses?
#4. Unless it’s a small elephant, I would think one would take up more than one parking space. Gives new meaning to double parked.
I’m going with civilization and say you made up #2.

. . . The rose. . . and the Scripture is perfect. Amen

Well now, trying to decide on one of these laws is crazy.

    1) It would make sense driving in the hills of Appalachian area, but every mile? However, it’s easy to get lost in rural mountains.
    2) Hmmmm, the Mormons I know aren’t allowed to drink alcohol. So one couldn’t mix wine and cheese, but that would be all over, not just one state.
    3) I love cows, so I am definitely sharing the road with them. In Ft. Worth, TX they have the nightly cattle walk in cowtown. Cows get precedence.
4)Haven’t seen any elephants hooked up to a parking place in the states, but it seems reasonable to pay if your park. But how many people have an elephant?
James picked #1 and told me to pick #4. I couldn’t decide. lol

I think it’s #2, because that’s just wrong! I appreciate #4, though. I rarely take my elephant out for a spin because I’ve always been unclear about parking her near a meter. Now I don’t have to worry about paying too much for her…I think I’ll take her for a ride this afternoon.

Love that beautiful rose! I don’t remember ever seeing one that color. Good verse choice.

I’m going with #1. I think that would get cost prohibitive and possibly prevent a person from arriving at their destination before daybreak. I think you made it up.

I love your purple rose, it’s gorgeous! I have one that color and it has never been that big or beautiful. You must have a green thumb.
I’m torn on some of these crazy laws, some actually make sense, or I think them out too much. I’m thinking the rural area lawwould help people in Alaska or Montana, I can understand the cows on the highways in rural areas too, and the elephant thing could be for circus people maybe going to town? Just wild guessing, but hopefully the wine and cheese is made up, I would call that interfering for sure!! So I’m guessing you made up #2.

Hi Dottie! I seem to have developed a green thumb in my old age. lol Until a few years ago, if someone gave me a plant or I planted something it was sure to die. Thank goodness that seems to have changed. lol Love your logic…we’ll see next week if it’s #2.
