More Crazy Laws #36 ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 30 Comments

More Crazy Laws #36 is this week’s Mystery Question. Can you believe there are so many? I’m having fun with these and hope you are as well.

I snapped the photo from the car (Promise–I stopped in the middle of the road) as I drove the Natchez Trace to Jackson, Mississippi. The symmetry of the young oak drew me and thought of this verse in Proverbs. Would that you all could drive the Natchez Trace!

Now onto this week’s More Crazy Laws #35. Three true laws and one made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. Here residents may not bring their pet flamingos into barber shops. (AK)
  2. If you want to join the Dry Pea and Lentil Council, you must be a citizen of this state. (ND)
  3. You can’t wear a bullet-proof vest to commit murder here.  (NJ)
  4. Did you know you can be sued in this state if your tom cat sires a litter of unplanned kittens?

And the answer is…#4. Congrats to all who guessed correctly!

Now onto this week’s More Crazy Laws #36. Three true laws and one made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. This state makes it illegal to share your Netflix password with another person.
  2. Here it’s illegal to throw rice at a wedding.
  3. It’s against the law to outlaw a clothesline here.
  4. You can’t replace your hunting dog with a ferret here.

Okay Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answers in the comments and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a $10 gift card!

Dedly Revenge by Patricia Bradley

Deadly Revenge

Twenty years ago, the construction of a dam caused people in Pearl Springs to lose their land to eminent domain, and someone bearing a grudge is clearly set on revenge. Russell County Deputy Jenna Hart and TBI Agent Max Anderson team up to track down the killer.

Max and Jenna worked together in the Chattanooga Police Department, and there was even a smoldering fire of attraction. As the sparks of romance reignite and the threads of the investigation get tangled when another suspect comes into play, Jenna and Max will have to draw on their skills to stay alive.

If I lived close enough, I would be driving the Natchez Trace, too. That’s a beautiful photo, Pat. We need to hold on to wisdom more often, per the Bible verse you chose.

    Now for the dumb laws.
#1. While I think there are broad laws about the misuse of products offered by computer access, I can’t imagine one so specific to one company.
#2. Throwing rice always seemed to be a bit dangerous to me. You could get someone in the eye accidentally.
#3. This really seems crazy, maybe banning clotheslines just goes too far against one’s pursuit of happiness.
#4. I don’t think dogs and ferrets get along too well, so I can see this one.
I’m going to say you made up #1. It just seems too specific, and hard to enforce. I know…that’s never stopped lawmakers in the past from passing dumb laws.

I think it’s #4. I just can’t see someone loading up their shotgun & hunting ferret into the truck!

In Viriginia, we have the Blue Ridge Parkway. I expect it’s much more curvy and hilly than the Natchez Trace but similar in terms of beautiful, peaceful sites. I still want to visit Natchez Trace. That’s a pretty picture with a wonderful verse.

I’m choosing #1. Many people may have the same password unknowingly. Since passwords are supposed to be encrypted, and I feel confident that Netflix uses encryption, I don’t know how the authorities would ever know if people “shared” passwords. If it had said no sharing of user credentials, I might think differently. I can see the possibility of the others being laws somewhere.

As always, your logic intrigues me, Edward, but never forget who we’re dealing with…I’ve driven the Blue Ridge Parkway to Ridgecrest in N. Carolina. It is beautiful, but not very peaceful with the traffic, and hills, and curves! The Natchez Trace doesn’t have the truck traffic…in fact, it has little traffic until you get to Jackson. 😉 And we’ll see if it’s #1 next week.

Hi Patricia, I’m going to pick #1 with the Netflix this time. All of these were pretty crazy this time. Loved your tree picture!

Hi Dottie! I’m so glad you were finally able to comment! Maybe I got it straightened out. 🙂 I’m glad you loved the tree. I simply had to stop in the middle of the road and snap the photo. lol. We’ll see next week if it’s #1.
