More Crazy Laws #27 ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 36 Comments

More Crazy Laws #27 is this week’s Mystery Question. Hard to believe I’m still finding crazy laws. I think I’ll see if I can make it to a 100… 😉

I’m in the middle of edits on the last book of the Pearl River Series, Deadly Revenge, shaking my head at some of the things I wrote. I’m thanking God for such a good editor!

The photo is one of my favorites. The sun broke through the clouds as I came of the gym — another time of being at the right place at the right time! The verse was in my daily Bible readings. It’s also one of my favorites and one that reminds me of a friend from my Sunday School class who prayed these verses every morning.

Now for last week’s More Crazy Laws #26. Three of the following laws are true and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. This state prohibits horse racing of any kind on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
  2. It is illegal to get a tattoo behind your ear or on your eyelid unless in the presence of a registered physician.
  3. Here you can’t tease a opossum.
  4. A person may not cross state lines with a duck atop his head here.

And the answer is…#3. Congrats to all who guessed correctly!

Now for this week’s More Crazy Laws #27. Three of the following laws are true and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. In this state, you can’t sing karaoke unless wearing shoes.
  2. Here kangaroos are not allowed in barber shops at any time.
  3. And in this state, women may not wear high heels while in the city limits.
  4. The U.S. government says it’s a crime to give false weather reports.

Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answers in the comments and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a $10 gift card.

Thank you so much for all the encouragement you’ve given me! I’ve received so many wonderful reviews on Fatal Witness!

Thanks for reading my blog!

Good morning Pat! I love this photo and verse! I pray this verse often and this morning was actually one of those times. Thank you for sharing both!
I’ll guess #2 although I really can’t imagine a kangaroo in a barber shop. LOL
If #4 is actually a law I wonder what the punishment is. I’m afraid many of our forecasters would be shaking in their boots! LOL

Ah, the promise of a new day from our Redeemer; our rock and salvation. Your photo and selected verse fit well, Pat.

What a crazy bunch of laws. With politicians making them up, I guess there is not end.
#1. Most people can’t sing karaoke even with shoes.
#2. Guess those kangaroos aren’t going to be hopping over to the barbershop any time soon.
#3. Who can afford high heel police these days?
#4. What constitutes a false weather report? It’s raining when the sun is out? But, that can happen. Hmm.
I’ll throw in with Diana and Mary, and say you made #1 up.

I feel like I say something along these lines every week, but Psalm 19 is such a favorite! Your photo pairs wonderfully with it!
I’m going go with the flow and say that you made up #1.

Don’t know whether to sing “Silent Night” or “Morning has Broken.” Gorgeous photo, Pat. I’m so glad you get these moments and take pictures of them. I did notice that snow on several roofs 🙂

That is a powerful verse and I have to pray it often. Sure helps us stay out of trouble if we heed it.

Now to try to solve one of these crazy laws ( which my batting average is quite low.)
    1) It’s a good idea to wear shows while singing karaoke, because everyone is walking up to the singing area and no telling where the shoes have been. When I was in Taiwan my “son” student took me to sing Karaoke the first few hours I was there. Of course, all the songs were in Chinese, which I cannot speak . However, I did know one love song in Chinese, so that’s what I sang. I can’t believe I did that now. I’ll blame it on jet lag,
#2 Kangaroos can be very aggressive, so perhaps this is a law in Australia where they do hop around quite a bit.
#3 Hmmm, I wonder who wouldn’t allow women to wear high heels in the city? Sounds like a good plan to me, though. They hurt!
#4 Well now, this inaccurate weather thing seems to happen ALL the time and I haven’t heard about anyone getting arrested.

I’ll take a stab at it and say you made up #3.

Love your logic, Barbara! I would have loved to hear you sing in Chinese. 🙂 That verse and Isaiah 26:3 keep me out of trouble somewhat…-“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you.”

These laws, as usual, are ridiculous, but I’m going with minority and choose #2. Also, as usual, the pic and the verse are wonderful!

Good luck with your edits of Deady Revenge! Beautiful verse and photo.
I think you made up number 3 because “high heels” is too vague. I think a law would say, “A person may not wear shoes with heels over 2 inches,” or something to that effect.

Beautiful picture. I like the way the church with its steeple rising high into the sky sets there to the side. Is that snow on the roofs? Great verse of scripture.

You didn’t tell us which states had those laws on the books.
I don’t remember ever going where they had karaoke, so I can’t really relate to this one. What if someone wanted to sing an old song from Hee Haw: wouldn’t singing barefoot fit right in? This must have been made up.
I am familiar with barber shops. I think it would be wise to prohibit kangaroos. One wrong move on the part of the kangaroo and the barber might clip off an ear.
Surely, the third one is probably a law in many places with all the problems in the cities. How can women escape the criminal element if they have on high heels? One wrong step and the grate over the manhole has grabbed her heel.
The US government has a tendency to focus on the wrong things. It’s okay if the media reports incorrect information about the laws they are trying to pass, but just don’t mess up the weather report. It could mess up their tee time at the golf course.
Yep, #1 has to be made up.

Just love your logic, Edward. We’ll see next week, and yes that’s snow on some of the rooftops. This was taken about the first day we could get out back in January. The steeple against the sky is what caught my attention.
