More Crazy Laws #26 ~ Mystery Questions

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 46 Comments

More Crazy Laws #26 is this week’s Mystery Question. Who would’ve thought I could keep the crazy laws going this long! lol.

But first the photo and verse. I love the way the sun shines through and against the clouds in this photo. It’s another one of those shots I caught on my way to Pilates. 🙂 And I love that verse in Psalms 68.

Also, I think it’s really neat that my 17th book ~ Fatal Witness ~ releases today on the 10th anniversary of the release of my first book, Shadows of the Past!

Now for last week’s More Crazy Laws. Three of the following laws are true and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. You cannot park your horse on Main Street in a town in this state.
  2. One town in this state makes it unlawful to walk backwards after sunset. (CT)
  3. Here it is illegal to get married on a dare. (DE)
  4. All men driving motorcycles must wear shirts in this state. (MN)

And the correct answer is…#1.

Now for this week’s More Crazy Laws #26. Three of the following laws are true and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. This state prohibits horse racing of any kind on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
  2. It is illegal to get a tattoo behind your ear or on your eyelid unless in the presence of a registered physician.
  3. Here you can’t tease a opossum.
  4. A person may not cross state lines with a duck atop his head here.

Okay Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments and I’ll enter you in a February drawing for a $10 gift card!

January’s winner is Mary Preston!

Just in case I haven’t mentioned it…

Fatal Witness releases today!

First, congratulations on your new book! I can hardly wait to start reading it. And Dani Pettrey will have to wait in line (“One Wrong Move” also releases today).

Pat, Tuesdays and Fridays are enhanced for me because I get to see your wonderful photos and the matching verses you choose to go with them.

    Congratulations, Mary!

#1. Yeah, I can see that being a law.
#2. Maybe, but that would mean every tattoo parlor would need a physician standing by. So…
#3. We need a law for this? Not too many opportunities to tease opossums anyway.
#4. Now having a duck on your head at any time is clearly ridiculous. So, crossing a state line with one would make sense only to a politician.
I will say you made up #3.

Congratulations on your 10th Revell novel in ten years! With a couple of anthologies thrown in for a good measure, you’ve been a busy woman. I cheated and googled the laws, so I won’t comment. 😉

Pat, it almost looks like a battle of the sky. It reminds me of being in the presence of evil and light. We get to choose which one. As you mentioned, I like how the sunshine shines through and against the dark clouds. Perfect Scripture for it, too!

These laws are ?????? I can only imagine how painful #2 would be, but some people are covered head to toe, so it’s probably true.

    Going with #4

Congratulations on The release of Fatal Witness! It’s a fantastic plot! Loved it! And more congratulations on celebrating 10 years for the release of Shadows of the Past, also another good book! Hope you get to celebrate today!

I’m gonna go with #3. I think that doesn’t need to be a law. It should just go without saying. NEVER tease any wild animal!

Beautiful picture and verse! I may have to start going to Pilates so I can get some great pictures. LOL. Not. I’d rather spend that time reading. 🙂

I actually like a couple of those laws, but maybe broaden the scope of the one about tattoos. So many have simply gone overboard with tattoos all over their bodies. But I have to share a quick story about a possum. We owned a Pontiac Trans Am for over 25 years. In 1996, I was working in Charlotte, NC. I had an apartment where I stayed during the week and came home on weekends. Sometimes my wife would spend the week with me there. On one occasion, she had an appointment on Monday and drove the Trans Am down on Monday to be with me. At supper she mentioned that the check engine soon light had come on on the way to Charlotte. The next day after work, I went out to check on the situation. Imagine my surprise when I discovered a possum under the hood. I tried several things to get it out but nothing was working. It just crawled deeper into the engine compartment. I finally put on some thick gloves and grabbed it by the tail. I tried to pull it out but my hands kept slipping off. Finally, I got a tight grip and gave a mighty jerk. What a shock! Its tail came off in my hands. I finally gave up and called animal control. The officer had it removed and in a cage in short order. I did not tease the possum, but I did jokingly point out the tail and told the officer he could take that too. He said it wouldn’t need a tail where it was going. Having shared that, I think this law is made up.

I love your possum story, Edward. A few years ago, a noise woke me up around three in the morning. It sounded like someone was tearing out the return air on my heat and air conditioning. I jumped out of bed and grabbed a flashlight and ran outside just in time to see a fat possum wiggle its way under my house through a tiny space. Since it was too late to do anything about it that night, I waited until the next night. I blocked where he was crawling in, and left the small door to the crawlspace open.

He tried to get out his usual way once, then all was quiet. I took my flashlight outside and swept my backyard. There he was with his beady little eyes staring at me. I ran and closed the crawlspace door and went to bed. As long as I kept the small space he used blocked, everything was fine, but one time a repairman moved the wood I had blocking him…yep, he’d been watching and waiting. My visitor was back.

Just repeated what I’d done before and made sure no one moved the lumber again. 🙂 And we’ll see next week if the possum answer is the correct one…

    Another lovely photo and verse!
As I read these “laws” I laughed out loud. Each one was dumber and dumber. LOL #1
HAPPY BOOK RELEASE DAY! Congratulations on your 10 year anniversary. I have enjoyed reading each of them

Beautiful picture. The verse fits it well. Happy Release Day! I’m going to guess #3. Now I’m imagining someone crossing the state line wearing a duck like a hat. Such crazy laws.

Okay, so I asked my 9 yr old grand-girl what she thinks the crazy law is that you made up & she’s going with #3 (you can’t tease a opossum)….and because they all sound crazy to me, I’ll go along with her, lol!

Perfect verse for the perfect picture as always Patricia! Love how clouds look sometimes. The other night just before our sunset, the clouds turned a pretty color of pink then purple before the sun sank below the horizon. It was so pretty!

Congrats on your 17th book release! It’s neat that it releases the same day as your very first one ten years ago 🙂

Thank you, Trixi! And I love it when the sky turns those beautiful colors! I loved that you asked your 9-yr old grand-girl which law was made up! We’ll see next week if she’s right.

These are crazy as always!! I hope there are still laws that protect Good Friday and Easter, so trying to decide between 3 and 4 . The duck may have to do with duck hunting season?? I’ll take a wild guess on #3.
