More Crazy Laws #22 ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 51 Comments

More Crazy Laws #22; Psalm 50:1

More Crazy Laws #22 is this week’s Mystery Question. But first the photo!

Priscilla Bettis emailed me this photo just as I was looking for one for this post. It is of the sun through a filter and the beautiful freckles on the sun’s face are sunspots that morph and move over time. I’ve never thought about using a filter to photograph the sun, but I will now! Thank you, Priscilla, for this beautiful picture!

Now for last week’s Mystery Question. Just like with dumb crimes, three of these laws are really on the city books in different states, and I made one up. Note someone compiled this list in 2011 and some laws can be quite old. Can you guess which one I made up?
  1. It is considered an offense to push a live moose out of a moving airplane. (Alaska)
  2. It’s illegal for frogs to croak after 11 PM. (Tennessee)
  3. In this state is illegal to sleep on top of a freezer outdoors.
  4. By law, if a man promises to marry an unmarried woman, the marriage must take place. (South Carolina)

And the answer is…#3. Congrats to all who guessed correctly.

Now for this week’s Mystery Question. Just like with dumb crimes, three of these laws are really on the city books in different states, and I made one up. Note someone compiled this list in 2011 and some laws can be quite old. Can you guess which one I made up?
  1. In this state, it is illegal to whisper in someone’s ear while they are moose hunting.
  2. Here it is illegal to buy or sell blue light bulbs.
  3. And it’s now legal here to remove the furniture tags that say, “Do Not Remove Under Penalty of Law.”
  4. This state prohibits people from playing Scrabble while waiting for a politician to speak.

Okay Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answers in the comments and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a $15 gift card on December 19. I plan on taking off after that and resting up for Christmas!

February 6th is just around the corner! I think you made up number 4 because there isn’t a need for that law. Who would ever bring a Scrabble game to a press conference or town meeting in the first place?

I love the photo and these are hysterical. I’ve been moose hunting so #1 wouldn’t be good. The problem is, they’re whacky enough, I believe they could all be true. I’ll go w/ #4, playing Scrabble, but don’t have great confidence that it’s correct.

I love the sun photo, and sunspots are cool(er). Good verse to go with it.

    #1 There’s Bullwinkle again.
#2 Guess that would be a blue law.
#3 Seems like a paradox. Something like, “Everything I say is false.”
#4 What else would one do while waiting for a politician to speak?
They’re all too crazy and dumb, but I’ll go with #4 as the one you made up.

Clever how you did that on the photo, Priscilla! Great verse to go with it, Pat.

    1) Yep Bullwinkle returns! I’d think if a person were moose hunting, they’d want to be very careful.

    2) I remember using blue lights on my porch 40 years ago. However, the law may have changed, since it represents law enforcement now.

    3) I always hate those tags, but they must be on there for a good reason, so not this one.

    4) Oh dear, I’m not into politics and I really love playing Scrabble. I don’t know if this is a law or not, but it sure gives me a good idea.

    Going with #4

It’s interesting that the picture made me think of the larger end of a brown egg. I like that shot. I always thought sunspots were those bright spots that sometimes appear in a picture when it’s taken at just the right angle. Once again you have chosen just the right verse.

I don’t know about anyone else, but don’t whisper in my ear while I’m moose hunting. It might distract me, and I would accidentally fire my rifle in the wrong direction, hitting a person instead. Risky business. That sounds like a good law. I would agree with the prohibition on blue light bulbs. Too easy to confuse them with a police car’s lights. We definitely need that a law allowing the removal of “do not remove” tags. The mattress police came to my house just the other day and gave me a ticket for removing the tag from a mattress we bought over 50 years ago, LOL! I think #4 is made up. We find other things to do before the politicians speak, and only get out the Scrabble game when they start speaking. Maybe we will hear some good words that help use those letters with the most points.

Love your take on the laws, Edward! You and Tim and Barbara all made me laugh. We’ll see next week if it’s #4… And I love that photo and plan on getting a filter for my camera…

Beautiful photo of the sun with freckles!
I’ve given up being able to figure out the crazy laws, so I did a random integer generator to choose a number between 1 and 4. It came up with #2, so that’s my guess! 🙂

What an interesting picture. The verse fits it well. Thank you for sharing it, Priscilla. I’m going to guess #2.

What an awesome picture of the sun, and as always I love the verse you pick to go with it.
I’m having trouble deciding between #3 and 4 this time, some of these crazy laws when you think about them long enough seem to be, well possible?? Anyway, I’ll go with #4.
I just read that I won this last time! That’s so exciting! What did I win and what do I need to do to claim it? Thank you so much
