More Crazy Crimes 9 ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 54 Comments

More Crazy Crimes 9 is this week’s Mystery Question. They keep getting crazier and crazier, but if they didn’t, I wouldn’t have a post! Also, I’m posting a day early because I want to post a Veterans Day blog.

The photo is one my daughter sent me of the full moon last week. I hope you saw it–it was gorgeous! I think it was closer to the earth than it had been in a bit. And I claim that Scripture verse every day.

Now for last week’s Mystery Question, More Crazy Crimes 8. As usual, three are true, and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. A home break-in was foiled when the burglar jumped through the bedroom window—and got trapped in a clothes hamper. Cops took it from there.
  2. The bank robber met with some snags–the first teller he tried to rob fainted, and the next two had no more cash in their drawers. Fed up, he stormed out, threatening to write an angry letter to the bank.
  3.  Another bank robber emailed the police, ridiculing their efforts to arrest him, stating they had his age, build, and accent wrong. What they didn’t have wrong was his email address, which they used to trace him.
  4. A man decided to break into a house and help himself to a warm shower, a couple of shirts that he layered, a pair of pants, and socks and shoes. His mistake was taking the time to make a ham sandwich–before he finished eating, the homeowners returned, and police soon arrested him.

And the answer is…#4! On #2, I don’t know if the tellers didn’t tell the bank robber the truth, or they actually had no cash, but that really happened! Congrats to all who guessed correctly!

Now for this week’s Mystery Question, More Crazy Crimes 9. As usual, three are true, and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. A Good Samaritan noticed an elderly man being robbed, so he jumped in and punched the thief. The thief was so upset, he called the police to complain.
  2. A man was carrying a fancy box with his mother-in-law’s cremains when robbers assaulted him and grabbed the box. He could only imagine what they thought when they opened the box.
  3. The would-be shoplifters thought store clerks would be too busy at an office supply store back-to-school sale to notice them stealing. Unfortunately, it was also “Shop with a Cop” day when about 60 police officers showed up to help children pick out school supplies. They were quickly nabbed.
  4. A big-box store agreed to take back a printer from a dissatisfied customer. Then the clerk noticed some work the customer forgot to remove from the machine: Counterfeit bills.

That moon was beautiful, Priscilla. Did you get a photo of it? I wasn’t home when it was so big and by the time I got home to my SLR, it wasn’t as pretty. We’ll see next week if it’s the cringe-worthy #2.

Lovely, lovely photo. Like wow! My first thought was, look at Casper the friendly ghost and he brought his friends!

The moon’s reflection and the street lights make the green grass a stunning contrast. Then there’s that spot of red with the car on the side. Great picture.

    James is going with #3
    I’m going with #4

Great photo and verse. I did see the super moon, and it was spectacular! I also just finished your new book today, and a review will be coming soon. Loved it!

    Crazy crimes:
    #1. Love those good Samaritans!
#2. I bet those robbers will think twice before stealing again. Naw.
#3. Shop with a cop sounds like a really good idea.
#4. Printing big money. About 1/4 inch too big.
I will say you made up #2 this time.

Love the picture and verse. Love the song, too. At the Gaither Homecoming at Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg a few weeks ago, Guy Penrod made a surprise appearance. It probably wasn’t a surprise to the Gaithers, but he was not listed among the performers.

It sounds like some have not heard of Shop with a Cop. I’m not sure if this is still done locally, but it used to be a big thing around here. Each cop “adopted” a needy child and they all went shopping together. I can’t remember if it was just before school started in the fall or if it was for Christmas. I think I will throw my lot in with those who have chosen #2. It sounds more real than the others, so maybe it’s made up.

The Moon photo and verse is so pretty, and yes, it was huge and Very bright! I always think of you when I see a full moon now. Because He Lives is a classic that I absolutely love.
I’m guessing #3, thinking 60 cops in an Office Supply store seems a lot. Somebody would have been awful brave!
