More Crazy Crimes 8 ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 48 Comments

More Crazy Crimes 8 is this week’s Mystery Question. But first the photo and verse. I passed this tree today on my way to a doctor’s appointment, but didn’t have time to snap a photo. On the way home, there was no traffic, so I stopped my car and lowered the window, and captured it. Every year it has the best color! And I came across the verse in my daily reading.

Now for last week’s Mystery Question, More Crazy Crimes 7. As usual, three are true, and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. A man tired of thieves breaking into his house rigged up an explosive that went off when a thief raised the window. This got him a prison sentence when the police arrested him for excessive use of a deadly weapon.
  2. One of the worst things a thief can do is pick the wrong house to burgle. This happened to a thief who picked a house that had been burgled a few hours earlier, and police were still processing the house.
  3. If a thief plans to rob a liquor store, he should never ask the clerk out on a date and give his name and phone number before robbing it.
  4. This hapless drunk asked the clerk for a room, and he quickly got one. Only the clerk turned out to be a state trooper at the state trooper station.

And the answer is #1! Congrats to all who guessed correctly!

Now for this week’s Mystery Question, More Crazy Crimes 8. As usual, three are true, and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. A home break-in was foiled when the burglar jumped through the bedroom window—and got trapped in a clothes hamper. Cops took it from there.
  2. The bank robber met with some snags–the first teller he tried to rob fainted, and the next two had no more cash in their drawers. Fed up, he stormed out, threatening to write an angry letter to the bank.
  3.  Another bank robber emailed the police, ridiculing their efforts to arrest him, stating they had his age, build, and accent wrong. What they didn’t have wrong was his email address, which they used to trace him.
  4. A man decided to break into a house and help himself to a warm shower, a couple of shirts that he layered, a pair of pants, and socks and shoes. His mistake was taking the time to make a ham sandwich–before he finished eating, the homeowners returned, and police soon arrested him.

Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments, and I’ll enter you in a drawing for one of Steve Hooley’s fine pens! (value $60) Steve’s Hand-crafted pens are made from antique and historic wood dating back to the 1700s. Check out my friend’s pens at his website. (Because of shipping costs, winner must have a US address.) You can see his other pens here.!

And the October winner of a book from my library is…Mary G!

Pens-Pioneer-Maple-GoldYou’ll notice I’m changing the giveaway up a little. With a book deadline looming, something has to give, and right now it looks like it’ll be the Reader Friday blog. One reason is that I have no time to read! And the other is, I just don’t write as fast as I used to. I truly hate to suspend the Friday post, and once I turn the book in, I’ll resume it.

I will send occasional Scripture graphics on Friday, though. 🙂

Oh, and guess what??? Today is book birthday for ON THE EDGE OF TRUST! I am really excited about releasing this baby to the world. And of course a little anxious–it’s only natural. I hope everyone who reads will get a blessing. You can order it here.

And here is this week’s song.

I’ve always wondered if placing something under a window would help a burglar get caught! lol

I decided to go with #2

HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY for On The Edge of Trust. For those of you who haven’t read it, it’s fantastic!!!

Oh, I love that photo. One of the things I miss most here in Tucson is the fall colors I used to see back in the Midwest and East. If I want to see them here, I have to drive to the mountains. One of the things I miss least is the subzero winters. 🙂 Walking God’s paths certainly fills us with joy! That is a great musical selection, too.

That was a great interview between you and Kay DiBianca I read today in her newsletter.

OK. Let’s get to the crazies.
    #1. Clothes hamper hampers burglar.
#2. Lousy customer service at that bank. I’ll take my bank robbing elsewhere.
#3. This dim bulb is now making little rocks out of big ones.
#4. Burglar, empty house, bad intel, caught.
After I stopped laughing, I decide you made up #4.

Gorgeous tree, Pat, and wonderful verse! I enjoyed God’s paintings of awesome trees on my drive home this morning from a doctor appointment. It seems as though the colors have lasted longer than usual.

Happy book release day! Looking forward to reading On The Edge of Trust!

These mystery crimes were all good – or bad – and I’ll guess #2

Mary G, I’m so glad your leaves are holding their color! Except for a couple of Maple trees, ours are just falling off. I hope you enjoy On the Edge of Trust! We’ll see next week if it’s #2 which is very popular. 🙂

I think #2 this week. I preordered The Edge of Trust and lost sleep. Every page said turn me and I did. Great book!

Nice picture of the foliage. You selected a great verse to go with it as always. I enjoyed the video. The piano player was excellent. I always love excellent piano playing. I took piano lessons for almost three years in my early teens. When I couldn’t play like that guy and others who were good but not as talented as him, I gave it up. I can’t play but I certainly know the difference between excellent piano playing and mediocre playing.

I would like to see this burglar who got trapped in clothes hamper. Either the clothes hamper was much larger than any I have ever seen, or the burglar was a dwarf. The last two are as crazy as that one. I am choosing #2. I worked in banking for many years and never heard of a teller running out of cash. ATMs would run out at times, but the tellers always had cash, even if it was only the bait money.

I always wanted to learn how to play the piano, Edward, but alas since I couldn’t carry a tune, my dad said it would be a waste of money–I got braces for my teeth instead. I love good piano playing, too. We’ll see next week if it’s the popular #2…

Pat, I just read your First Friday Freebie & New Releases newsletter. I think I know where you get “Robin” out of Jessica R. Patch’s name. Unless her middle initial stands for Robin, you might be thinking of Robin Patchen. I’m constantly confusing their names. Especially because Jessica’s newsletter is called “Patched In”.
