MORE BLOTTER REPORTS

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 40 Comments

I took this photo one evening as we walked near the house. I love it when I stumble on a beautiful sight. It had recently rained and I was looking for a rainbow. While I didn’t find a rainbow, I did find this beautiful sky.

Now onto last week’s Mystery Question. When I picked up last Tuesday’s paper there were all these crime reports and I started reading…so you get to guess which one of the four reports is false. As usual, three are true and I made one up. Can you guess which one?

  1. A man reported he let a friend borrow his 1990 Ford Ranger for a couple of hours. Four days later the friend still had not returned the truck. This wasn’t the first time this had happened.
  2. A woman reported her 40-year-old brother showed up Friday night at her house and said she had started a war between family members and she was responsible for his son being locked up and Tased. She was in fear of bodily harm and called 911.
  3. A man called the sheriff after his wife put his clothes on the front porch in plastic bags and then barred the doors to keep him from getting inside. He didn’t know why she did that.
  4. A county resident left home for a couple of hours. When he returned he discovered several items of clothing ($600) missing, several pairs of shoes ($1,200), and a bottle of cologne ($200). He thinks his cousin stole the items.

And the answer is…#3. Congrats Edward and everyone else who guessed correctly!

Now onto this week’s Mystery Question. More blotter reports. Three are true and one is made up. Can you guess which one is made up?

  1. A couple reported a UFO that appeared about the same time three nights in a row as a bright light that moved toward them before veering off to the right. A little investigation revealed the lights were sky-lanterns that teens had been releasing in celebration of their graduation from high school.
  2. A resident reported a large light in the sky. It was the moon.
  3. A homeowner reported the theft of a sign that read “CATS SLOW CROSSING”.  He told police the thief may get a measure of justice since the sign was attached to a termite-infested post.
  4. A bridal party was thrown in jail after the bride and her future mother-in-law started a brawl. The frenzy touched off by bouquet tosses was probably tame after the bride and her attendant walked down the aisle with shiners.

Okay Super Sleuths, which blotter report did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments and I’ll enter you in a May drawing for a book from my library.

I feel like I remember number 2, though with a little more detail. So I’m going to go with that one being false.

Let’s see. Sky lanterns are often confused for UFOs. I’ve read about people reporting the moon as a strange light in the sky (don’t these people ever see the sky at night?). I can imagine a bridal party brawl, sadly. Pat, I think you made up #3. A sign for a cat crossing? I hope the cats know to cross there 🙂

Beautiful sunset sky photo. Great shot, and fitting Scripture to go with it. Thanks.

I would love to capture a shot like this one. I enjoy trying to get good pictures of clouds and other nature shots. I don’t have the patience for people photography.

I choose #4. I got hung up on “The frenzy … was probably tame after…” Wouldn’t the police stay until they had broken up the frenzy, rather than leaving in the middle of it? Something doesn’t ring true about this one.

I think one reason I get pretty good sky and nature shots is that I always have my camera with me–it’s on my phone. lol. I’ve always enjoyed taking pictures of anything unusual I can find. And we’ll see if your logic is correct next week, Edward.

Edward, I much prefer landscape photography, too, for the same reason. Still have my color enlarger in the garage, but no darkroom set up. Digital only now.

I started in my college days with black & white. That was pretty easy. But, when my photo store lost a couple of rolls of vacation color film I’d taken 1000 miles from where I lived, I vowed to never again let the film out of my posession. The enlarger was expensive since I had a medium format camera, and the temperature control for developing color film had to be closely held. But, I was very pleased with the results, and the creative control was very satisfying.

Pretty picture! I’m thinking number 2 is false, only becuase I would hope people would recognize the moon when they see it 🙂 .

You’d think, wouldn’t you, Megan. lol. We’ll see next week. And I’m glad you liked the picture. It was amazing in person and I was so pleased the camera caught the color.

That’s logical, Paula, but remember we’re dealing with ‘nuts’ here. 😉 We’ll see next week if your logic picked the correct answer. Thanks for stopping by.

Bwhahahaha…number 2 made me fall off my chair laughing!! Oh my goodness, I’ve read some funny things in our own police blotter in the newspaper, but some of them take the cake, don’t they? I am going to go with #3 this week because I really have no idea which is the correct answer 😉

I love the scripture you shared. It’s hard for me to be still when some injustice happens to me. I know better though!
