More Bad Headlines ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 59 Comments

More Funny Headlines; Psalm 31:19

More Bad Headlines is this week’s Mystery Question. I had so much fun with last week’s headlines that I decided to follow up with more this week.

But first the photo and Scripture. I love this photo that I took from my neighbor’s drive. It was just before sunset and the colors were so rich. And the verse is from my Bible reading last week. Psalm 31 is so rich and encouraging!

And now for last week’s Mystery Question. Below are four headlines. Three of them were actually printed in newspapers and I had one devil of a time coming up with a fourth so Delores Topliff helped me out. (She can’t answer lol) Can you guess which one Delores gave me? Oh, and don’t drink coffee while you read these!
  1. Utah Poison Contol Center Reminds Everyone Not To Take Poison,
  2. Minor Refuses To Work After Death.
  3. The Price Of Down Goes Up.
  4. Missippi’s Literacy Program Shows Improvement.

And the answer is…#3. Thank you Delores Topliff for that one! Congrats to all who guessed correctly. I could not believe it when I saw Mississippi misspelled!

Now for More Bad Headlines. As usual three were really published and I made up one. Can you guess which one? Leave your answers in the comments and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library.
  1. Man accused of killing lawyer received a new attorney.
  2. Most tornado damage is caused by wind.
  3. State population to double by 2040; babies to blame.
  4. Breathing oxygen linked to staying alive.

Okay, Super Sleuths which one did I make up? Leave your answers in the comments and I’ll enter you in a March drawing for a book from my library.

More Bad Headlines is this week's Mystery Question. As usual 4 choices. Only 1 is made up. Can you guess which one? Leave your answers in the comments and I'll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library. Share on X

Oh, that gorgeous photo and powerful verse! I’m going with number 3 because I think people aren’t having as many babies as they used to, and individual state population increases are due to migration.

        Beautiful picture and wonderful verse.
I’m going to hazard a guess that it’s number 2.

Another stunningly beautiful photograph, Pat. You’re on a roll. And, a beautiful verse to go with it.

Headline writers have got to be the craziest bunch at times. I get they have a tight word budget, but maybe a proofreader would help? I think you made up #2.

I finished Lynn Blackburn’s “Under Fire” last night. Another great book by Lynn, as I’ve come to expect. But, is it just me, or did anyone else find themselves scratching their head over the Epilogue? I just didn’t see its purpose. The only thing I could come up with is that perhaps it was to lay the groundwork for her next book.

Anyway, you all have a great day!

I must say #4 is quite dear to my heart these days! 😉 So, I’m setting it aside carefully. Lol however, if you chose that one, then yay!

I decided to go with #1, because I’d hate to be the new lawyer. But I bet Cara Putman could handle him just fine!

Love that vivid sunset…breathtaking and as always, you found the perfect Scripture to go with it!

Tim, it’s good to on this side of the headline, isn’t it? We’ll let Cara take care of him.

Pat your photo is absolutely stunning! And as always the verse fits perfectly! Thank you for the beauty you always share.

I think you created #3…I adore all babies, but that’s quite a lot of those sweet peas!

WOW! What a beautiful picture and a great verse to go with it.

I think the writers of these headlines are masters at stating what most people already believe. Did their articles state anything worth taking the time to read? I am going with #2. I think it could have simply said: Wind damage caused by wind.

Thanks, Edward! I didn’t take the time to look up the articles…figuring as bad as the headlines were, I didn’t need to waste my time. lol We’ll see next week if it’s #2!
