I’m at Camp NaNoWrMo starting my second week participating in NaNoWrMo (National Novel Writing Month), and I’m on target to hit the 50,000-word goal…if I keep writing 1667 words each day. While you’re supposed to start a new project, I didn’t. I have that February deadline, and I’m using NaNo to push me through the first draft!
Actually this won’t be the first time I’ve written 50,000 words in a month. I probably do it at least once with every book. 🙂
Now onto last week’s Mystery Question: Three of these stupid crook stories are true. I made up one, and believe me, it was hard. See if you can guess which one.
- Is it the man who tried to rob a woman only to discover when he was rolling on the ground in pain that she was a taekwondo black belt.
- Or a woman wanted for second-degree murder was unhappy with the photo officials used on social media and she posted under the photo “That picture ugly.” The PD Department offered to let her come in and take a new picture. And she did.
- Then there was the brainless bank robber who was arrested the day after she posted a YouTube video of her bragging about her crime.
- And then there was the purse snatcher who knocked himself unconscious when he sprinted into a glass window that he thought was an open doorway…
And the one I made up is…#1. Congrats to all who guessed correctly! I had fun with these!
Now onto this week’s Mystery Question: Three of these little known facts are true. One is made up. See if you can guess which one.
- The average coffee tree yields only enough beans every year to make one to one and a half-pounds of coffee.
- Buzz Aldrin left a pen on the moon after the first visit. Eugene Cernan, the last moonwalker, found it. It still worked.
- In 2009 the car that was stolen the most was the 1994 Honda Accord.
- A cornflake in the shape of Illinois sold on eBay for $1,350.
Okay, Super Sleuths, which answer is the made-up one? Leave your answer in the comments and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library, or if you wish, I’ll loan you a Kindle book I’ve purchased–the loan is good for 14 days.

I think number 1. But they’re all pretty crazy! It’d be pretty cool if the 2nd one is true! And number 4 is crazy enough to be true!

We’ll see, Monique. These were fun to look up. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.
I’ll go with #3. Just because!!

We’ll see, Valita, next week. Thanks for commenting!

We’ll see, Linda. Good to ‘see’ you here.
I’m guessing #3 this time. Love these!

We’ll see, Delores. So glad you dropped in from Israel! Stay safe!
Guessing #3…if this is true, I don’t know why!
Author
I love your logic, Linda! 🙂 Thanks for joining the discussion.
Pat, I’m thinking you made up #2. I just can’t imagine a pen left behind (like where, on the ground?) would be found by another astronaut from another mission, even if they landed in the same general location.
Author
Good logic, Tim…but what if Buz told Gene where it was…thanks for stopping by. Always good to ‘see’ you.
I’m going with #2 being made up.

We’ll see, Nicole, we’ll see. Thanks for dropping in.

Hi Lisa! So you’re agreeing with Tim? and Nicole. 😉 We’ll see next week. Thanks for joining the discussion.
It seems Tim and I often agree but I’m going a different direction this time. Maybe Buzz tied the pen to the flag pole so it was not hard to find. 🙂 I think #4 was made up. If it’s true, someone is a “few cornflakes short of a full box.”

Great logic, Edward! We’ll see how it works next week. As always, good to ‘see’ you here!!
I am guessing #4 this week.
Author
Gloria, I think yours is the first one for #4! Thanks for dropping by and joining the discussion!
#4–who’d trust a cornflake to stay in a certain shape!?
Author
Love your logic, MS Barb. Now we’ll see next week if it works. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by for a visit!
I’m surprised that #1 was made up last week! Because I’ve read or seen similar things on the news where a man tried to rob a woman only to find out she knew how to defend herself (Karate or similar).
I’m gonna guess #2 this week because it just sounds crazier than the rest…lol!
Author
I probably should have googled it, Trixi to make sure there weren’t any news reports like #1…but I did make up that particular scenario. lol And we’ll see about #2 next week…Thanks for always stopping by!
I’m going to guess #2.
Author
Hi Colleen! We’ll see if it’s #2 next week. Thanks for dropping by!
I’ll guess #2 is false. Happy writing!
Author
I see a trend, Paula, toward #2…we’ll see next week. Always good to see you here…and would you believe I received edits for the first book this week, so there goes my NaNo writing. lol

We’ll see, Caryl. Thanks for stopping by each week!

We’ll see, Jeanna, we’ll see. Thanks for stopping by!
I’m guessing #2. Given all the conditions on the moon and in space, I would be surprised if anything on the moon lasted very long, including the flag!

Love your logic, Diane…you remind me of Edward and Tim…we’ll see how that works for you next week. 😉 Thanks for stopping by.
