First Mystery Question of 2021–Lost and Found

First Mystery Question of 2021--Lost and Found Is.40:31

First Mystery Question of 2021–Lost and Found I believe is a great way to start the new year off! I enjoyed finding them last year here we go! I’ve already found several for today.  I love the verse above and thought it would be an encouraging scripture verse for the first of the year. The photo came from Unsplash and is by Zdenek Machacek.

Last year was a difficult year. It’s one reason I chose Isaiah 40:31 for my first scripture verse of the year. This has long been a favorite of mine, giving me encouragement in the face of difficulty. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Now for First Mystery Question of 2021–Lost and Found: As usual, three are true and I made up the fourth one.
  1. Someone left a lifesized stuffed Spider-Man on the London Metro.
  2. A passenger left a stuffed warthog on public transport.
  3. Two years after a woman lost the diamond in her engagement ring as she walked from her office to the parking lot a block away, sunlight flashed on something in the grass. Yep, the missing diamond.
  4. Twenty years after a fisherman lost his wallet he was fishing in the same lake. Would you believe he pulled the old wallet out of the water?

Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments for a drawing for my latest book, Obsession. You can get it here.

Natchez Trace Ranger and historian Emma Winters hoped never to see Sam Ryker again after she broke off her engagement to him. But when shots are fired at her at a historical landmark just off the Natchez Trace, she’s forced to work alongside Sam,  the Natchez TraceObsession by Patricia Bradley law enforcement district ranger. To complicate matters, a delusional secret admirer wants Emma as his own. Sam is merely an obstruction, one which must be removed.

Sam knows that he has failed Emma in the past and he doesn’t intend to let her down again. Especially since her life is on the line. The threads of the investigation cross and tangle with their own personal history. Sam and Emma have a chance to discover the truth–not only about the victim but about what went wrong in their relationship.

Welcome, 2021! Another year, more Mystery Questions! See if you can guess the answer I made up on the First Mystery Question of 2021! Leave a comment and be entered in a drawing for Obsession, the 2nd book in the Natchez Trace Park… Share on X

Pat, that Scripture passage is well chosen for our times, and also a favorite of many, including me.

Your leading mystery for the year is a real stumper. I’m going with #2. After all, who would leave a stuffed warthog laying around 🙂

And here’s another mystery. Right after your four questions, you mention your new book, naming it in red with a line through the name. Why the strike-through?

Hi Tim. I’m glad you think the Mystery Question is a real stumper! And that verse is a favorite of mine as well.

As for the strike-through, I have no idea what happened. I changed the wording a little and hyper-linked another word–same thing. So I tried tapping the strike-through icon and the line went away. lol. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. That will make me to be sure and check the whole blog post before I schedule it in the future. 🙂

      So glad you stopped by!

I love that scripture, too, Paula, and thought the photo went so well with the verse. It’s one of the few I’ve used that I didn’t take. It’s from Unsplash and taken by Zdenek Machacek.
      We’ll see if it’s #1 next week.

Beautiful verse and timely. Thank you. Think I’ll go with #2. The others I can see making news but not this one.

These are all crazy, I’ll be interested in seeing the answer, but I’ll go w/ #2, the stuffed warthog. I think others on the transport would have run after the idiot and made him/her take it with.

I don’t know, Sally Jo…I’ve found arrowheads that show up after a rain, so it might be possible for the diamond to show up…, but I like your logic! Thanks so much for stopping by.

Great Scripture, Patricia! With hope and renewed strength, we can stand firm. The enemy prowls around seeking whom he may devour.
I’m going with #1. I can see a Spider-Man on The Tube, but a life-sized one??? However, a warthog can vary in size. It could be a large stuffed one, or a toy stuffed one. Anyway, that’s my deduction! Lol

Hello Patricia! Beautiful picture and very fitting verse. I’m going to guess #2. I’m looking forward to reading Obsession. The first book was really good.

That verse is one of my favorite! Eagles are majestic!! I guess #4 ! How could a wallet be recognizable after 20 years in water?!

I meant to tell you that I liked the picture as well. I think we all would rather soar with the eagles than peck around in the dirt with the chickens. There’s just something special about an eagle in flight.

At first, I wanted to say #3, because it seemed so unbelievable after so long a time, but something tells me it’s just unbelievable enough to be true. I’m picking #1 instead!

Well, Tim and Edward, I must start listening to music with words more often! I do write with music in the background, but if I listen to music with words, I find myself writing what I’m hearing. 🙂 Josh Grobin is one of my favorites when I do listen.

      1. Edward Arrington

Pat, I totally understand the problem of writing while listening to music with words. That’s a huge reason I seldom listen to music at home. My choice is normally Southern Gospel and that simply does not work well when doing anything that requires my attention to words. I either hear the words of the song and miss the other or vice versa. I do most of my listening to music when I’m driving by myself.

    2. Edward Arrington

Tim, I don’t think I have heard that song before. I started listening to Southern Gospel at a young age, and it’s still my favorite. The song I shared was a very popular SG song when I was growing up, and quickly became one of my favorites. It may be one of the first songs I learned that I actually knew the Scripture verse upon which it was based. Thus the song and the Bible verse became favorites.

Are you on Facebook? I’d like to connect there, if you are. https://www.facebook.com/edward.arrington.1/

Hi Edward, isn’t it interesting how different our Christian music experiences might be. Then again, I’ll bet there is a lot of overlap. My late wife really liked Christian contemporary music which she acquired a taste for in her college days. Now it’s a favorite genre for me as well.

I’m not on Facebook, but you can find me on LinkedIn if you have a presence there. I’m the one who worked for IBM and retired in Tucson.

      2. Edward Arrington

Hey Tim, our daughter got us listening to contemporary Christian music after our youth pastor introduced her to it. Over a period of 20-30 years, we continued listening to it. We went to hear Steven Curtis Chapman, Michael W. Smith, and several others back through those years. Over time as most of the new groups gravitated toward more of a rock sound (or maybe it’s considered heavy metal), I moved back to Southern Gospel. Two things helped bring me back, besides the changing sound of a lot of the contemporary groups: the Gaither Homecoming videos and Joy FM, a radio station that started broadcasting in our area about twenty years ago. I feel like I’m back home. 🙂

I was on LinkedIn when I worked but never used it much. After retirement, I decided to put that behind me. I use Facebook to share my book reviews.

I’m going to say #3 for two reasons: One~how would a diamond still be there after two years? I’m sure someone would have discovered it & either kept it or exchanged it for money. Two~how would the woman know the diamond had belonged to her?

Isaiah 40:31 is one of my favorite scriptures and a great comfort to me in difficult times. Hope in the Lord is a powerful thing!

    1. Trixi

What I meant by this statement “how would the woman know the diamond had belonged to her” was how did she know it was hers for sure and not someone elses diamond? I’m sure there are ways to identify a diamond. Does that make sense?

I think they are all a bit unbelievable but I will choose #4 because I think the wallet would disintegrate in twenty years.
