Crazy Things Clients Do and Say ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 52 Comments

Crazy Things Clients Do and Say is this week’s Mystery Question. I ran across these earlier in the week and thought you would enjoy them.

But first the photo and verse. I took the photo of the spruce trees (we call them Christmas trees in the South) as we drove down Trans-Canada Highway 1 on Thursday. What a fun trip I was on! And I loved that verse and thought it fit the photo.

Now for last week’s Mystery Question–More Funny Lawyer Gaffes #18. Although these aren’t lawyer statements per se, they are funny. As usual, three are true and one is false. Can you guess which one?
  1. Clerk: Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?
    Client: No.
  2. Attorney: If my client had only listened to my advice and let me do my job, he would have gone home three years earlier than he did.
  3. Judge: Sir, do you have any income?
    Defendant: Yes, your Honor.
Judge: From what source do you have income?
    Defendant: Selling marijuana, your Honor.
  4. Attorney: Is there anything that would refresh your recollection as to whether or not you were experiencing any pain at the scene?
    Client: A better memory.

And the answer is…#4. Congrats to all who guessed correctly.

Now for this week’s Mystery Question, Crazy Things Clients Do and Say. In these four statements, clients actually did or said under oath three of them…one is made up. Can you guess which one?
  1. The opposing attorney: Did you hit the victim, yes or no?
Client: I did, but it was no harder than you’d hit a dog.
  2.  Attorney: You’re not claiming any psychological problems from the accident, are you?
Client: No. I’m probably just as crazy as before the accident.
  3. A public defender took a shoplifting case where the defendant was caught in possession of stolen goods, which happened to match a list (also in his possession) entitled ‘Stuff to steal from Walmart.'”
  4. During a divorce hearing, the ex-husband claimed that he didn’t make much or any money and couldn’t pay the child support. A few hours later, he posted a picture on Facebook showing a wad of cash talking about how ‘wealthy’ he was.

Okay, Super Sleuths, which one is made up? Leave your answers in the comments, and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a copy of Elizabeth Goddard’s Storm Warning.

Coming soon…exciting news…

And now for this week’s song, and since I’m in Canada, I’d like to honor Canadian singer Paul Anka with one of my favorite songs from when I was a teenager.

    # 3 for me. Thank you for the picture and verse. Brought back a memory from 30 years ago. My husband took me to Lake Tahoe and while driving through the winding roads with all the trees, I picked up my binoculars and looked at the road with all the trees surrounding me. It felt like a roller coaster in a forest. DJ

Pat, that beautiful photo could have been taken in Michigan where I grew up. You chose a great verse to go with it. I like the word picture.
Paul Anka! Loved his singing. Thanks for the memory.

    Those lawyers and their clients!
#1. Well, I guess that makes it OK then.
#2. I would agree. No change on the crazy meter.
#3. Sadly, this one has a lot of pop culture behind it.
#4. Throw the book at that ex!
I’ll have to admit, I don’t have a clue. I’ll take a stab and say you made up #2. If you didn’t make this one up, I have to say the client did have a sharp sense of humor.

Tim, I spent yesterday with a family from Michigan at Fort William in Thunder Bay. A few years ago Delores wrote a book about Marguerite McLough, Wilderness Wife, and the family connected with her. It was such a fun time. And I love Paul Anka, too! We’ll see next week if your guess of #2 is correct…

The trees are lovely. If it wasn’t SOoooo hot here I could easily get I. The Christmas spirit.

These mystery questions are hard and funny. Quite a challenge .Number 2 gave me a good chuckle but I’m going with #4

    Oh yeah, Paul Anka!!!!!

Paul Anka was one of my favorites as a teen, especially that song, Barbara. So glad the mystery question gave you a chuckle…they gave me one too! We’ll see next week if it’s #4…

Wonderful song, now I think it’s going to be stuck in my head the rest of the day. I’m going with number 3 this time because nowadays a note to oneself would be on a phone, not on a paper list in a pocket.

Love the photo of the spruce/Christmas trees. Enjoyed Paul Anka’s song – a blast from the past. Thanks, Pat, for sharing both the photo and the music!
For me it was a toss-up between 1 and 2, but I’ll go with #1

The verse paints the picture. Great match.

I’ll listen to Paul Anka later. Brenda is resting so I don’t want to disturb her. The Lord willing, she will be discharged Thursday.

I think 3 & 4 are true. I guess I’ve heard too many stories of shoplifting at Walmart and read so much on Facebook that should not have been posted. As for the first one, I’m guessing it probably did happen. I think #2 is made up. That leaves #2. It sounds made up. LOL!

I think she had dozed momentarily. As soon as she looked up, I asked if she wanted to hear it. She sang along with him and enjoyed it.
