Crazier Crimes Gone Awry is this week’s Mystery Question. There is such an abundance of crazy criminals out there I can’t help taking advantage of their…for lack of a better word, stupidity.
But first this week’s scripture. I’ve been holding fast to this verse this week. Just today I learned of the death of another friend to Covid, and my own family is traveling our own journey dealing with the illness of a loved one. My oldest daughter is once again in the hospital and because of Covid, no one can get in to see her. Nurturing long-distance is very difficult. But I usually get to talk to her once a day and we always end our conversation with funny jokes I’ve found. I hang up with the sound of laughter in her voice.
And now last week’s Mystery Question: Really Crazy Bungled Crimes. As usual, three crimes are true and I made up one–can you guess which one? Leave your answer in the comments and I’ll enter you in the September drawing for a book from my library!
- Would-be robbers confidently entered the lobby of a business, hid their hands in their jackets like guns, and demanded money from the woman at the front desk. Unfortunately, there was one flaw in the plan – the “business” was actually a police station.
- The would-be bank robber was nervous. So nervous that after he handed the teller the note, he gave her his gun instead of the bag to put the money in. The quick-thinking teller turned the gun on him and held him until police arrived.
- Drive-thru windows aren’t meant to accommodate 6’3″, 270-lb. linemen, but one got stuck when servers at a Taco Bell failed to get this particular former football player’s order right, and he went ballistic. There he remained, half inside and half outside the Taco Bell, until the police arrived to dislodge him, and then arrest him.
- An 18-year-old really, really wanted a yacht, but he couldn’t afford one. So, he decided to steal one. Unfortunately for him, the 45-ft. vessel he picked was still tied to the dock. When the teenager fired up the engine for a joy ride, the yacht inched forward and was quickly yanked back into the dock, alerting everyone that something fishy was afoot.
And the answer is…#2. Congrats to all who guessed correctly!
And now this week’s Mystery Question: Crazier Crimes Gone Awry. As usual, three crimes are true and I made up one–can you guess which one? Leave your answer in the comments and I’ll enter you in the September drawing for a book from my library!
- A horse thief covered the lens of the camera at the barn to keep from being identified. Then he stole the camera along with the horse. He didn’t count on the horse owner backing up his surveillance camera to an SD card. When police reviewed the recorded video, there was a former employee in full color, his hand reaching for the camera lens with the clay.
- After a woman robbed a bank, police officers found her abandoned Cadillac at the airport. It was quickly traced to the owner. When police questioned friends and relatives, they learned she’d gone to Mexico for plastic surgery. So police alerted TSA, and she was detained when she re-entered the US in Houston with her newly reconstructed face.
- US custom takes bird trafficking very seriously due to the threat of avian flu. That didn’t stop this man from attempting to smuggle 29 finches into the US inside hair rollers. He didn’t take into consideration bags are routinely scanned and 29 round cylinders were enough to warrant a bag check.
- A woman was busted for a home invasion in Oklahoma — thanks in part to “Cheeto dust” found in her teeth. A woman called police after someone broke into her home. The police found a bag of Cheetos outside the window the burglar escaped from. They found her hiding in the shadows near the house. The homeowner ID’d her and the Cheeto dust on her teeth helped seal the case.
Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answers in the comments and I’ll enter you in the September drawing for a book from my library.
Crazier Crimes Gone Awry is this week's Mystery Question. As usual, three crimes are true and one is made up. Leave a comment and I'll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library! Share on XInvestigative Services Branch (ISB) ranger Ainsley Beaumont arrives in her hometown of Natchez, Mississippi, to investigate the murder of a three-month-pregnant teenager. While she wishes the visit was under better circumstances, she never imagined that she would become the killer’s next target–nor that she’d have to work alongside an old flame.
After he almost killed a child, former FBI sniper Lincoln Steele couldn’t bring himself to fire a gun, which had deadly and unforeseen consequences for his best friend. Crushed beneath a load of guilt, Linc is working at Melrose Estate as an interpretive ranger. But as danger closes in on Ainsley during her murder investigation, Linc will have to find the courage to protect her. The only question is, will it be too little, too late?

#4 – I blame Cheetos for all kinds of things.
Author
Me, too, Mary! Thanks for stopping by.
I’m going to go with #1.
Author
We’ll see, Diana! Thanks for dropping in.
I think you made up number 4 because everybody knows Cheetos make a mess, so burglars would avoid snacking on ’em. (Then again, these are not-so-smart criminals!) I hope your daughter gets better soon!
Author
Love your logic as always, Priscilla! We’ll see next week. And thanks for your concern.
Pat, I’m so sorry your daughter is in the hospital again. My prayers for her recovery, and for you. I’m sorry for the loss of your friend as well. Only God can give us the strength to get us through.
Yup, dumb and dumber are the criminals. I think you made up #1 this week. Note to would be thieves: practice your camera covering technique.
Author
Yes, Tim, it keeps getting dumb and dumber. lol. Thanks for your prayers!
Some of these are so crazy, they’d be the good basis of a book or movie! I’ll go with #1 this week, though. And, yes, praying for your daughter and you.
Author
As always, thanks for the prayers. I feel each and every one, Delores! We’ll see next week if it’s #1.
I’m guessing #2 this time. Praying for your daughter and others with health issues in your family.
Author
Thanks, Paula. It’s been a tough month. We’ll see next week if it’s #2.
Prayers for your daughter, you, and family. Hope her hospital visit is shorter this time. I am going with #4.
Author
I do, too, Gloria! I think we’re looking at about 3 months of hospital and rehab time. We’ll see next week if it’s #4.
Will be praying for a speedy and complete recovery for your daughter, and peace for you. I’m choosing #4.

#4 I will keep your daughter in my prayers. That is good that you end up your phone conversations with hearing her laugh. Have a great rest of the week and stay safe. God Bless you and your family.
Author
Thank you, Alicia! And we’ll see if it’s #4 next week. 😉
I hope your daughter recovers soon. I’m going with #4 being the made up one this week.
Author
Thank you, Megan! Right now things are looking better. And we’ll see next week if it’s #4. 🙂
Oh my goodness these stories! How do you choose which one is made up? I’ll go with #4, the Cheeto dust one because it made me laugh…wouldn’t that just be an ironic way to solve a home invasion crime? 😀
I’m so sorry to hear about your friend Patricia! Covid is a killer and I’ve heard way too many sad stories from friends or relatives about someone dying due to it. It just breaks my heart in a million pieces 🙁 And your daughter not being able to have visitors in the hospital, I just hate that it has to be that way. So many people suffering with no loved ones nearby to help comfort them physically. I’m glad you are able to call her everyday & hope that helps lift her spirits (yours too). I will be praying for healing for her & for the Lord to give comfort.
Author
Thanks, Trixi. I love sharing jokes with her. And I’m glad I made you laugh this morning! We’ll see what the correct answer is next week. Thanks so much for stopping by.

We’ll see, Deb. So glad you dropped by and commented!
I am going with #4. Praying for your daughter’s healing, Pat!
Author
Thank you, Jackie! We’ll see next week if it’s #4.
I am choosing #3. I can envision the other three scenarios but this one just won’t come into focus for me. Too many questions keep coming to mind about how this could possibly work, even if the Customs agents didn’t check the bag. It’s sad to think that the woman in the second crime spent the money to get a new face in preparation for prison.
Your picture and verse are so fitting for so many people these days. I’m so glad we having a God in whom we can place our trust no matter what the circumstances.
Author
Me, too, Edward about having a God in whom we can place our trust! As always I love your logic. We’ll see next week how it works. Thanks for stopping by.
I think I will go with #4 this time because it is so funny
Author
Glad I made you laugh today, Shelia! My job is done. 😉 Thanks for stopping by and we’ll see next week if it’s #4.
#4 Because who’d mess w/ Cheetos during a robbery!? (But, then again, maybe Cheetos are addictive!)
Author
It’s why I don’t buy them, MS Barb! (Not that I’m burglarizing houses. lol)
Thanks for stopping by and we’ll see next week if it’s #4.
What a wonderful verse, one I needed today, thank you.
I’m so sorry to hear about your daughter. It must be rough not being able to be with her. 🙁 Sending up prayers for your family!
Author
It is, Elizabeth. Thankful to be able to talk to her, though. And I love that verse…it’s the first one that comes to mind in a difficult situation.
I’m thinking #4.
Author
Hi Ellen! We’ll see…I hope it made you laugh. 😉
I think it’s #4 because that orange stuff ends up everywhere, a definite giveaway…Who snacks while committing a crime? Prayers for your daughter
Author
Love your logic, Roanne! We’ll see next week.
#1 because wouldn’t the SD card be in the camera? Love the scripture and photo. Blessings.

Author
We’ll see, Caryl. Thanks for always stopping by!
I’m going to say #3 is made up. Those poor birds!
