Bogus Breakups and Excuses is this week’s Mystery Question. I thought it was time for a break from crime so when I came across these funny breakup excuses…well…
But first the photo and scripture. When I went to Israel, we stopped at Caesarea where Paul boarded a ship and sailed to Rome. The aqueduct would have been one of the last things he saw of the shoreline after they set sail. It was built in the 1st Century AD and delivered water to Caesarea for 1200 years! in It’s amazing to me that it’s still standing. You can learn more about it here and here.
And now last week’s Mystery Question: Crazier Crimes Gone Awry. As usual, three crimes are true and I made up one–can you guess which one? Leave your answer in the comments and I’ll enter you in the September drawing for a book from my library!
- A horse thief covered the lens of the camera at the barn to keep from being identified. Then he stole the camera along with the horse. He didn’t count on the horse owner backing up his surveillance camera to an SD card. When police reviewed the recorded video, there was a former employee in full color, his hand reaching for the camera lens with the clay.
- After a woman robbed a bank, police officers found her abandoned Cadillac at the airport. It was quickly traced to the owner. When police questioned friends and relatives, they learned she’d gone to Mexico for plastic surgery. So police alerted TSA, and she was detained when she re-entered the US in Houston with her newly reconstructed face.
- US custom takes bird trafficking very seriously due to the threat of avian flu. That didn’t stop this man from attempting to smuggle 29 finches into the US inside hair rollers. He didn’t take into consideration bags are routinely scanned and 29 round cylinders were enough to warrant a bag check.
- A woman was busted for a home invasion in Oklahoma — thanks in part to “Cheeto dust” found in her teeth. A woman called police after someone broke into her home. The police found a bag of Cheetos outside the window the burglar escaped from. They found her hiding in the shadows near the house. The homeowner ID’d her and the Cheeto dust on her teeth helped seal the case.
And the answer is…#1. Congrats on everyone who guessed correctly!!
Now for Bogus Breakups and Excuses–the Mystery Question for this week. Three of these are true and I made up one…which was very difficult!
- A woman told “Cosmopolitan that she flew across the country to see her now ex-boyfriend. He told her he couldn’t see her because all of his clothes were dirty.
- The man shrugged when he told his soon-to-be-ex, “It’s like this…I just don’t see myself being with anyone who loves Dancing With the Stars.”
- The boyfriend told his soon-to-be-ex: “I just don’t have time for a relationship right now. You see, I have a high-maintenance bird that demands a lot of my attention, which makes my other pet jealous. I have to spend more time with my dog.”
- “I know we discussed paragliding in July, but I got to thinking. If I were permanently injured in an accident, I don’t think you’d stay with me. So I’m leaving now before that happens.
Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave a comment and I’ll enter you in a September drawing for a book from my library. And next week, it’ll be the guys turned to get dumped. lol
On my blog I have four examples of what's the worst way to dump a girlfriend. Three actually happened and I made up one. Can you guess which one? Leave a comment. You might win a book. Share on XDiscover more from Patricia Bradley

You’re right. This time it is very difficult. I guess I’m going to go with #2.
Author
Diana, #2 seems very popular! But I’m glad you found them difficult…you have no idea how hard it was to come up with one like the true ones. lol
I think it’s #2 as well.
Author
Hi Mary! We’ll see next week if it’s #2. Thanks for stopping by!
I guess #1
Author
We’ll see, Sue. Glad you stopped by!
I totally believe number three because dogs rule. So maybe it’s number 1.
Author
Love your logic as always, Priscilla! We’ll see next week if it’s #1. 😉
I’m not sure but I’ll take #3. These are all partners to avoid and run fast!
Author
Absolutely, Delores! We’ll see next week if it’s #3. Thanks for stopping by!
Those ancient aqueducts are amazing. To think they were all built by muscle power. We are studying Acts in Sunday Bible class, and that Scripture certainly fits the theme of being witnesses.
Breakups. Whatever happened to honesty? Do these people think their soon-to-be ex will be hurt less by their lame excuses? As the song says, “Breaking up is hard to do.” #2 seems the lamest, so I’ll go with that as the one you made up.

Hi Tim! We’ll see next week if it’s #2. About Acts. In my Bible research on morning, I found an article that suggested Dr. Luke wrote Luke and Acts as preparation for Paul’s trial. And it makes perfect sense–it was written in such an organized and logical way. Thanks for dropping by!
Pat, that’s an interesting take on why Luke wrote the two books. It does beg the question of who Theophilus was. That Luke referred to him as “most excellent” in the opening of his Gospel, could imply he was some sort of official.

I’d never thought of those two books in that way, Tim, but now, I can’t quit thinking that it might be the case. 🙂
I’m going to guess #3… beautiful picture!
Author
Hi Angela! Thank you! And we’ll see next week if it’s #3. Thanks for stopping by!
I am guessing #2. Sounds like good riddance. Great photo.
Author
Thank you, Gloria! I love that photo. And scripture. And we’ll see next week if it was #2.
Those are all really bad!! It makes it hard to choose. I am going with #3 though. Is a dog really jealous of a bird?
Author
Well, Ellen, you have to remember, the guy is making up his reason for breaking up with her… 😉 Thanks for stopping by. We’ll see next week which one it is!
Amazing photo! Number 3!
Author
Thanks, MJ. We’ll see next week if it’s #2. Thanks for stopping by.
What a neat picture. It must have been incredible to see. These excuses are really bad. I’m going to guess #2. Hard to pick!
Author
It was, Erika! and I would go again in a heartbeat! 🙂 We’ll see next week if it’s #2. Glad it was hard to pick. lol
#1
Author
Hi Caryl! We’ll see next week if it’s #1. Thanks for stopping by.
I’m choosing #4, although it sounds like someone was trying to eliminate a potential risk of getting hurt while paragliding. Why not just tell her he didn’t want to go paragliding?
Author
Good point, Edward…Thanks for stopping by and chiming in!
I like #1
Author
We’ll see, Paula. 😉 Thanks so much for stopping by!
I’ll choose #1 this time
Author
Shelia, #1 is pretty popular this week…of course, that was the answer last week…do you think I’d make it #1 again to fool you? 😀 Thanks so much for stopping by.
LOVE your picture w/ the history! — Amazing! Aqueduct has obviously lasted longer than a lot of relationships! I”m guessing # 1 – but they all sound pretty pathetic & the person they “dumped” is free of the excuse maker!
Author
MS Barb, it was such an awesome feeling to stand on the beach where Paul may have stood…but it was really awesome walking where Jesus had walked! And we’ll see if your answer is the correct one next week!
Beautiful picture! I’m going to guess #3 is the false one this week.
Author
Thank you, Megan! I love that photo. We’ll see next week if it’s #3. 🙂
What a great picture! Someday I’d love to go to Israel and explore all the places Jesus or Paul did. It would bring the scriptures to life for me being able to see & touch everything!
As for the made-up breakup scenario, I want to say #3 though it seems the most plausible answer. The guy deserves to be with his pets and not a girlfriend, lol!
Author
Trixi, going to Israel did bring the scriptures to life. I can now picture many of the places I read about. And we’ll see if it’s #3 next week!
I think probably 2 or 4, but I’ll go with number 4.
Author
Hi Elizabeth! We’ll see…both are popular numbers. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
#3
Author
We’ll see Patricia! Thanks for stopping by.
I’ll go with #3 (they are hilarious)
Author
Natalya, I am so glad I made you laugh today! We’ll see next week if it’s #3.
I think it’s #4

We’ll see, Alicia. Thanks for stopping by.
