Back to Crazy Crimes 6 is this week’s Mystery Question. You wouldn’t believe how hard it is to come up with a plausible crime that is as crazy as the real ones!
Now for the photo and verse. Saturday I took a research trip up the Natchez Trace to the Buffalo River for my next book, Deadly Connections. It was a beautiful fall day to look for a place to put a body…If you know me, you know I’m always looking for places to hide bodies…Anyway, the opening scene for my hero is at Metal Ford on the Trace. As the photo shows, it’s a beautiful place, and if you want to know the history behind the name, click here. I ran across the verse earlier this week and thought it was a great encouragement.
Now for last week’s Mystery Question, More Crazy Crimes 5. As usual, three are true, and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
- When you use a drone to drop $20,000 worth of illegal drugs in a prison, be sure you use one that doesn’t make a lot of noise. That was the mistake of a prisoner who had dreams of being a drug kingpin in the prison where he was serving time. The loud drone drew the attention of correctional officers, ending his dream.
- A couple discovered a burglar in their house after the burglar laughed at the husband’s joke. Must not have been a Dad joke.
- If you’re going to kill someone, do it at the exact time they die from something else…that’s what happened for this man, who was prosecuted for a lesser charge of assault and battery instead of first-degree murder.
- Don’t be like this pilot who intentionally allowed a plane to crash into a national forest for the purpose of gaining YouTube views and lost his pilot’s license and spent six months in the pen.
And the answer is…#1. Congrats to all who guessed correctly!
Now for this week’s Mystery Question, More Crazy Crimes 6. As usual, three are true, and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
- Dude walks into a bank and writes a demand letter on the back of a copy of his own birth certificate. He was also wearing a cut-off T-shirt that showed his unusual tattoos.
- A man steals his neighbor’s car, and when the police show up, he goes out to drive it off. Unfortunately for him, the neighbor’s video shows the actual theft with him wearing the same clothes.
- The thief couldn’t be satisfied with getting away with stealing $10,000 in jewelry–he had to post his heist on Facebook along with how he did it. He had no idea the police even knew he had a Facebook page.
- Please don’t be stupid enough to rob a gun store armed with only a baseball bat like this criminal did. A gun shop. Really? The owner kept the thief in his crosshairs until the police arrived.
Okay Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library!
Oh, goodness! Only two more weeks until On the Edge of Trust releases! Still time to preorder it from Baker Bookhouse, but hurry! The offer goes away the day the book releases. 🙂
Here’s a graphic about the book!
Sometimes the closer you get to justice, the deadlier it becomes

When decorated FBI undercover agent Scott Sinclair suffers a gunshot wound in his right arm, the injury threatens his future career in the field. He is determined to regain his former job by training himself to use his left hand, and failure is not an option–especially when he’s unofficially pulled into an investigation.
Tori Mitchell is a passionate crime reporter and podcaster who has dedicated her life to seeking justice. Her relentless pursuit of the truth has freed a wrongfully convicted man from prison, making Tori an enemy of the true killer. When her nephew is accused of a different murder, nothing can stop her from getting involved and clearing his name.
Soon after Tori and Scott reconnect on the case, shots are fired, leaving them to wonder which of them has been targeted. As the investigation intensifies, so do the threats and the sparks between them, but Tori’s doubtful if she can extend grace and trust to Scott. They’ll have to combine their skills and rely on their growing relationship to outsmart the killer.
Now for today’s song. It’s probably the last one I’ll be able to embed since my web guy would rather I put a link to YouTube.

Well my goodness, Lo and behold there was a big face in the clouds. An eyewitness to the upcoming dead body! Peaceful and SOoooo pretty.
These Crazy Crimes are mind boggling. Going with #4 Like you wrote, going to rob a gun shop with a baseball bat. Not a good thing to do. I wonder what he said, “Give me your money or guns, or I’ll chase you with this baseball bat.”
Yep, On the Edge of Trust comes out soon!!! Woo Hoo! I am absolutely loving rereading the series. I will start Book 4, Silence in the Dark, in about an hour. I noticed on the cover page, this will be my third time to read it. It never gets old. You go girl, these books are so good!

Author
Hi Sharon! It looks as though #4 has a surge of popularity. We’ll see… 🙂
#2 Is my answer
I can totally imagine a body turning up somewhere along that river! Wherever we are, our trust is in the Lord. Good verse. Also, great video.
Now for the crazies.
#1. I’m surprised he found the bank. His elevator doesn’t go to the top.
#2. Another dim bulb.
#3. Isn’t it against the law for the police to use Facebook? Hmm.
#4. Just robbing a gun store might not be such a good idea. Doing it with a baseball bat…well.
I’m going #2 as the one you made up, though honestly I wish more criminals were as dumb as these.
Author
Me too, Tim. lol And it’s really hard to come up with crimes as stupid as the real ones…we’ll see next week if it’s #2.
I will pick three. Great photo and verse!
Author
Thanks, Judy! We’ll see…
I want to be different and go with #3.

I love it when the answers are all over the board, Denise. We’ll see next week.
I forgot to add this explanation for why the ford is called Metal Ford:
“The ford takes its name from its stone bottom, which reminded frontier travelers of stone-surfaced or “metaled” roads of the day.” This from https://natcheztracetravel.com

We’ll see next week, Diana!
I am not very good at guessing these but I will guess #4 this time. All of this week’s scenarios seem too dumb to be true. You picked a great video! Carrie Underwood is so talented and hearing her sing to the Lord is a treat.
Author
I so agree about Carrie Underwood. A friend sent me this video this week and I liked it so well, I decided to use it. 🙂
That is such a peaceful, restful picture – a place of refuge. Great verse. What a stirring rendition of How Great Thou Art.
I think #3 is made up. The police don’t have to know he had a Facebook page. All they need is a tip from someone who saw it on Facebook. Or they could run a search on Facebook for posts about jewels. The other criminals were crazy but this sounds fake.
Author
It is a peaceful place, Edward. I think I could sit in that spot for hours and enjoy it. I’ll be visiting again, pretty soon and look forward to it. We’ll see how your amazing logic works next week…
Sorry Pat – I know I’m really late responding. Beautiful photo and love the verse! I also love Carrie Underwood’s rendition of How Great Thou Art! Gives me chills every time I hear it.
