Back to Crazy Crimes 4 is this week’s Mystery Question. It’s amazing how many really dumb criminals there are in the world. But first the photo and verse.
I wish I could say I took the photo, but alas, I’ve never been to Alaska. A friend who has been sent it to me and encouraged me to use it with a Bible verse. I’ve always loved Isaiah 52:7 and thought it was a perfect fit.
Now for last week’s Mystery Question, More Crazy Crimes 3. As usual, three are true, and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
- Automated License Plate Recognition noted a stolen car had been hijacked, and undercover cops set up a stakeout in the area, hoping to catch the thief. Imagine the thief’s surprise when he tried to hijack the undercover cop car with two officers in it.
- This smart criminal tried to rob someone with his mouth and nose covered with a handkerchief…evidently, he forgot to cover the snake tattooed on his forehead.
- This hapless burglar left his cell phone and a traffic ticket at the house he broke into.
- Just before the alleged theft, a thief was shopping and handed the clerk at the store his business card with all his personal information. Shortly afterwards, a camera caught him shoplifting.
And the answer is #2. Congrats to all who guessed correctly!
Now for this week’s Mystery Question, More Crazy Crimes 4. As usual, three are true, and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
- A man walked into a Tiffany’s and pretended to be the manager of a certain NBA superstar. He swiped earrings and an engagement ring valued at over a million dollars. Police couldn’t find the merchandise until they x-rayed his stomach. He’d swallowed it.
- Pet store owners entered their shop to find all the caged animals roaming the store. When the intruder was arrested several hours later, he had three gerbils stashed in his pants pocket.
- A man was arrested after leading police on a chase while driving a stolen John Deere tractor. The driver rammed several vehicles, a dumpster and a church during the miles-long pursuit.
- Don’t mess with your grandmother–an 80-year-old grandmother hauled her 40-year-old grandson to the police station and turned him over to police. Turns out she recognized him when the local news station ran the bank video of the robbery on their evening news.
Okay Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments and I’ll enter you in an October drawing for a book from my library. September’s winner is…Crystal!

Hi Diana! We’ll see…
Congratulations to Crystal! Let’s see, this week I’m going with #4 because I think a 40yo man would just run away from his 80yo granny.
Author
Good point, Priscilla…but at the gym I go to, I’ve seen some 80yo grannies who could take him down. We’ll see…
Pat, I saw that harvest moon yesterday morning! It was beautiful. I was taking my trash out at 5 AM at the time. Since it was a clear sky, I was also treated to the winter constellations such as Orion. And Jupiter nice and bright as was Sirius. I spotted the Pleiades, too. Those are some of my favorites.
Author
Tim, I saw that same moon! I didn’t have my SLR with me so I snapped a shot with my phone and it’s pretty good, but nothing like with the other camera!
Congratulations on the release of your new book last week, Priscilla!
Author
Yes, Gloria! I have Pricilla’s book, Whispers of a Southern Moon and can’t wait to read it! And did anyone see yesterdays Harvest Moon? It was beautiful.
I will say number 4 is made up. Although, my Grandmothers’ would each grab me by the arm and turn me in no questions asked.

You have to admit the power of a grandmother is strong, Deborah! lol We’ll see next week.
What a beautiful photo, Pat. Alaska certainly is picturesque. I love the verse you chose to go with it.
Congrats Crystal!
Crazy criminals:
#1. Swallowing jewelry? That had to be painful.
#2. All that to swipe some gerbils. That is crazy.
#3. Bet that Deer doesn’t run so well now.
#4. Go granny, go!
Call me crazy, but I think you made up #4.
Author
We’ll see, Tim! Love your logic on each answer!

Awesome photo and perfect verse! I, too, love the Gaithers; thanks for sharing this.
I would love to travel to Alaska. I have read several book series, written by various authors, based in Alaska, and by description, the landscape is really beautiful.
Congratulations Crystal!
These are all crazy, but I’ll guess #3.
Author
Thanks, Mary G. I so want to go to Alaska, too. We’ll see next week if it’s #3.
Beautiful picture and verse! And I’m up for a good Gaither video any time.
I’m choosing #1. I don’t know why a person would feel it necessary to impersonate the manager of an NBA star to get their hands on earrings and an engagement ring. I think that was thrown in to muddy the water. And swallowing the jewelry sounds like something a three-year-old would do. I got a chuckle from the second one. The church I attend faces a street with a street on each side. Our parking lot connects the two side streets. It actually appears on Google Maps as an unnamed street. I was talking with a neighbor at the back side of the parking lot a few weeks ago. He said some man comes driving through the church parking lot almost every day on a big old red antique farm tractor. I learned last Friday that the man lives across the street from the widow of one of our former pastors. She and another lady who lives in her basement apartment have seen the man drive down the street toward the church but had no idea where he went. I guess I should tell them and the other neighbor to keep a close watch on him. LOL!
Author
Love a good neighborhood watch, Edward! It’s funny how something that seems bizarre can be simple. lol We’ll see next week if it’s #1. And I may do a run of Gaither songs!
Beautiful photo! I had the privilege to go on an Alaskan cruise a couple of years ago and all the scenery is breathtaking!
I’m going to have to guess #2 again this week. The rest all seem plausible.
Author
Hi Gail…I really want to go to Alaska…maybe someday. We’ll see next week if it’s #2.
#4
Author
We’ll see, Carly!
The Gaither group did a great job on that song, so crisp, clear, and finger-snapping!
I think it’s #4 this week, more power to law-enforcing grannies. They make our world better. And I love Alaska. I hope you get there in summer when it’s at its best.
Author
I love that Gaither song, Delores. And I hope to go to Alaska one day and it’ll definitely be in the summer. 😉 We’ll see next week if it’s #4.
That phot and verse are perfect!
I will throw in with #4 also.
