August Mystery Questions–Week 3

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 50 Comments

As your days, so shall your strength be. Deuteronomy 33:25

It’s August Mystery Questions–Week 3: Can you believe it? Fourteen more days and it’ll be September! Where has this year gone? I can remember when we were celebrating the beginning of 2020 and everyone was looking forward to seeing what the new year would bring.

If someone had told me in December of 2019 that we would be where we are right now, I would not have believed them. I didn’t believe those predicting dire consequences of the virus in February and early March…

But as the Deuteronomy scripture says, “As your days, so shall your strength be.” I think a companion verse is found in the Lord’s Prayer: “Give us this day our daily bread.” We have to remember God has this.

Now for the August Mystery Questions Week 2: More dumb reports but this time not from around my area. 🙂 As always three are true and I made up one.
  1. A police chief lost a handgun and cell phone. It seems he allowed prisoners to wash his patrol car at the local training center.
  2. A teller demanded two forms of identification before she would give the bank robber the money. He produced a debit card and a driver’s license. He was sentenced to 25 years.
  3. A man was arrested after breaking into his own apartment. It seems he hadn’t paid rent for two months, and the apartment manager changed the locks, making it necessary for him to break in to retrieve his personal effects. Unfortunately, the police didn’t see it his way.
  4. A brothel in Australia complained to city planners about a church being built on their street, fearing it will bring the wrong sort of people into the area.

And the answer is…#3. Congrats to all who got the correct answer.

Now for August Mystery Questions–Week 3: More local blotter reports. Three are true, one is not. Can you guess the made-up report?
  1. Police arrested a machete-wielding woman after she attempted to steal an ambulance and threatened a medic. She gave no reason for why she wanted the ambulance.
  2. A woman called 911 in distress when she discovered a turtle upside down in her backyard. The dispatcher told her to turn it right side up. The woman called back a few minutes later and tearfully reported that now the turtle didn’t have any arms or legs.
  3. A naked man entered through a bedroom window and attempted to burglarize a home while the owners were eating dinner. Unfortunately, he wasn’t very quiet about it and the homeowner discovered him. The man escaped, but police found his discarded clothes outside the window with his wallet and driver’s license.
  4. A man reported a male suspect had been harassing him via Facebook, saying he was going to “smoke” the man, and his family better get ready for a funeral. The man said he doesn’t know the suspect, but he is dating the suspect’s ex-girlfriend.

Okay, Super Sleuths, which August Mystery Questions–Week 3 did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a $10 Amazon gift card at the end of the month.

I’ll say #2. Surely no one is that dumb….but then again…maybe.
Thank you for the verse, as I needed it today.

The most amazing thing about all of these, from week to week, is how unbelievable they seem. Pat, I’m saying you made up #2 this week. I suppose she could have been intoxicated, but this story seems way out there.

With the world, and my own country, going crazy I’m so thankful we have an all powerful God who is looking out for us, and will work it all out for our good, and His glory.

Since I’ve been compiling these reports, Tim, I am amazed at what people do. And I often think that if they would but put half the energy and thought they put in illegal things into worthwhile endeavors, they would probably be successful. lol And if I didn’t know God was all-powerful and looking out for us, I would be huddled in a corner in my bedroom. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Thanks for the encouraging word! I’m thinking it’s got to be #2 because she surely would know a little more about a turtle – ie that it hides in its shel….‍♀️

I’m going to get in line here for #2. If a person is that dumb, how would they know it was a turtle? (It could have been a tortoise or terrapin.) She might could get away with not knowing she could simply turn it over. But no arms and legs. I would think anyone who knows a thing about turtles knows they pull into their shells.

I’m riding with everyone else in saying #2 is your made up one….but as always, you have me stumped, lol!
Aren’t you glad in this crazy world, that God remains steady, unmoving, solid as a rock beneath our feet and can be counted on when nothing else can? Like you, I’d be huddled in bed, clinging to my blankie with all that’s going on right now. 🙂 Thanks for sharing these encouraging scriptures every week, they are just what I need to hear 🙂

Thanks for the encouragement, Trixi! Most of the scripture verses I use are ones that are in my daily readings. They bless me and I hope they bless my readers! Always good to ‘see’ you here!

I’m going with #1 just because it is so random. I have no idea how you find some of these crazy stories.
