I love walking in my neighborhood–it’s where I often get my photos. I took this one of the moon just last week after a rain. And every time I see a moon like this or a rainbow or any of God’s other majestic creations, I think of this verse in Psalm 8.
I’m starting edits on Obsession today. I received them last Tuesday and put off even looking to see what I have to do until I finished the first three chapters of a smaller book I’m writing. Taking a deep breath…
But first, let’s look at last week’s Mystery Question. Again blotter reports, three true, one false. See if you can figure out which one I made up.
- Police were called to a bank break-in and found a guy warming his Hot Pockets sandwich. At least that’s what he claimed. Turned out that’s exactly what he was doing.
- A man reported the post office informed him that they had found all of his stolen mail. He didn’t even realize it had gone missing.
- A Kalispell woman called to report that she kicked her son out but she’s worried he has no place to stay so she was curious if police could take him.
- Two men broke into a hen house and each stole a chicken. Police followed their trail of feathers and beer cans and found them arguing over who was going to kill and dress the hens.
And the answer is…Yep, most of you got it correct. It’s #4…except it’s sort of true, other than the part about the police. I did know two men who’d had a little too much to drink once and stole a man’s chicken from his coop…but they let it go and took off running when he came to see why his chickens were making such a fuss. 🙂 Oh! and #1 was on my TV news report last weekend. The man seemed very serious about heating his Hot Pockets. 🙂
Now onto this week’s Mystery Question. Since I’m having fun with these blotter reports, I try again. Same old same old. Three are true and I made one up. Let’s see if you do as well this week guessing which one I made up.
- A would-be thief who broke into a bakery found, for all his troubles, he’d trapped himself in a locked storeroom. A camera caught his desperate attempt to get out for thirty minutes as he stacked boxes, fell, stacked boxes again until he finally escaped only to turn himself in.
- A bookkeeper ended up in the hospital for a week’s stay. When he returned to work the police were waiting for him. Turns out the company discovered why he never took a vacation. He was afraid someone would discover his embezzlement.
- Two burglars rifling through an apartment were disturbed by police and jumped out of a window with a stash of jewelry. Soon afterward, the police picked up two men acting suspiciously. While in custody one man became ill and needed hospital treatment. X-rays showed up the problem: two rings, a pendant, and a necklace—all swallowed in haste. After swift surgery, the apartment owner identified the items, and the police did the rest.
- A 32-year-old man was found hanging upside down from a window after trying to break into a condominium. Caught hanging literally upside down from the window of the condo, he was left with little choice but to admit his crime and take his punishment.
Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library!

Hm, this is a tough one. I think you made up number 3 because that’s a lot of jewelry to eat while running down an alleyway!
Author
Glad you think it’s tough, Priscilla! We’ll see next week if that was too much jewelry to eat while running. 😉
Not sure either, but I am going to say number two this time. Police must laugh at some of these antics. And great neighborhood photos!
Author
I’m sure they do, Delores. And thanks for the comment about the photo. Love walking late in the evening. We’ll see next week if it’s #2.
I also want to go with number 3, but how does one hang upside-down from a window? Unless your pants got caught on the latch or something, but then they should rip… So that confuses me. But I think I’ll still go with #3. A necklace just seems to big to swallow, and how did he expect to get it out again?! I don’t think regurgitating a necklace (and a pendant and 2 rings) would be as easy as he thinks…!
Author
Hi Monique! Good to see you here. I don’t even want to think about how he planned to get it out! lol. Thanks for stopping by. We’ll see if he actually swallowed the jewelry next week.
I’ll go with #3, Too. I don’t think it would have been a simple surgery.
Author
We’ll see, Paula. Number three is getting a lot of attention this week. Thanks for dropping by and commenting.
I’m guessing #1–they all sound believable!
Author
That’s sad, isn’t it, MS Barb! We’ll see next week if it’s #1. Thanks for dropping by.
#3 I don’t think he could swallow so much quickly.
Author
That seems to be the consensus, Lucy. We’ll see next week if he was really that dumb. Thanks for stopping by.
This is a tough one, they all sound ridiculous so its hard to say which is false. Im picking number 3 though, Im not sure a person would recover well after swallowing all that jewelry.

It’s hard to comprehend, isn’t it, Megan? But then we’re dealing with stupid crooks…thanks for visiting and leaving a comment!
I’m guessing #1 is false.

Hi Nicole! We’ll see next week if it’s #1. So good to ‘see’ you here!
Whoa, these are so out there. #3 is hard to swallow. I wouldn’t want to hang out with #4. #2 shows it pays to stay well, but you can’t enjoy your loot if you can’t take time off to spend it. However, #1 is the one I believe you made up. Why, after escaping, would he then turn himself in?
I enjoy Bible passages which have an astronomical reference. I got interested in astronomy in the 6th grade, and still am to this day. Great photo, Pat. Blessings too, on your “bookwork”.

Thanks, Tim. I’m almost done with the first pass-through of edits and I’ve been pleased my editor didn’t find a whole lot for me to change. 😀 We’ll see next week if it’s #1.
I’ve loved astronomy since I was five years old, Tim. My dad was a merchant seaman and the navigated by the stars–this was before all the sophisticated equipment came into being. He would take us out and point out all the different constellations and planets. I still remember all the shooting stars we’d see in late summer.
2 – thanks for the chance to win a book

Hi Lisa! We’ll see next week if it’s #1. Glad you stopped by!
I’m going to go with #1 this week just to be different, though I could totally see it happening. Plus, I think being stuck in a bakery would be heavenly, lol! All those wonderful smells would make me hungry, I’d have to “borrow” a loaf or two of some sort of sweet bread or pastry once I got out of the stockroom 🙂
I love this scripture because I often have the same question. Who am I that God would notice me? But I am assured that He not only created me, but loves me unconditionally. He always has me in mind and showers His love upon me. It’s an awesome thought to ponder, isn’t it? To be loved with such a great love, its unfathomable!
Thanks for the wonderful blotter reports these last few weeks, it’s been fun to read them! God bless & keep on churning out those words!
Author
Thanks, Trixi! I’m busy working on the edits to Obsession, hopefully finishing up the first pass through today. 😉 Yeah, if I were going to get stuck somewhere, a bakery would be the best place. lol Thanks for stopping by!
I know you don’t often repeat making up the same number two weeks in a row, but I believe you have this time. I think #4 is made up. Maybe it’s because your second sentence is nearly a repeat of the first sentence. I keep trying to picture that one and can’t figure out what would cause him to be hanging around a condo. Seems there should have been some way to get free.
Author
We’ll see, Edward. And as always I love your logic. Always good to ‘see’ you here!
I think the made up one is #3 Your picture of the moon is Beautiful , and the Psalm is also a beautiful one.
Author
That was the most gorgeous moon, Alicia! As we walked it kept changing and I got to snap several photos that will probably show up here. And we’ll see if it’s #3 next week. Thanks for dropping by!
I am guessing #4.
Author
Hi, Gloria! Always great to ‘see’ you here. And we’ll see next week if it’s #4.
I’m going to guess #2. #3 sounds so painful! I guess # 4 just wanted to hang out. Ha, ha 🙂

Thank you, Joni! I’m working on one for next week now. A couple of verses have been speaking to me and I’m looking for just the right photo among all my pictures. 🙂 We’ll see next week if it’s #4. Thanks for stopping by.
Beautiful photo. I guess I’ll have to go with #3.
