This was posted on the ACFW blog loop by Martha Rogers and expresses my sentiments exactly.
“For the Lord your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your forefathers, which he confirmed to them by oath.”
Deuteronomy 4:31 NIV
As we began another year of campaigning, we look for a man or woman who will take our nation back to the roots of revolution and the principles on which our forefathers built this great country. It was founded on our trust in God as we made an oath to Him through our Declaration of Independence and Constitution.
Although it seems a vast part of our country has forgotten or strayed from the truths we held as a new nation, just as the Israelites did in their day, God is still in control. He has looked with favor on our nation because of the faithful who still look to Him for guidance. May we never falter in our faithfulness. We have our dark times in history just as we’ve had since the beginning of time in the Garden of Eden.
We give thanks to those who formed our nation and to those who help preserve it by risking their lives to defend it. We have the privilege of writing about our wonderful Savior and spreading the news of His love because of these great sacrifices.
Because of men and women willing to risk their lives for our freedom, we are free to worship where and when we please. True, we are being afforded fewer places where we can openly voice our beliefs, but it is still a freedom we enjoy. We are thankful for the Christian publishers and bookstores who give us the means to spread His word to our readers.
Just as God didn?t abandon the Israelites, He will not abandon us as long as we seek Him and serve Him with reverence and obedience. No matter what trials we suffer, or what hardships we bear, God is with us. He is in control. May His love fill your heart and give you the encouragement to face whatever challenges come your way this week. Trust Him, He will not fail.
Heavenly Father, our love for You overflows. May our hearts be attuned to what You want to do in our lives this week.

Thanks for sharing, Pat! I believe Christians need to put a lot more time and effort into sharing Jesus Christ and what He has done in their lives. Too many are looking to politicians to straighten out all the messes in our country. It won’t happen. Christians can make a difference if we will simply follow Jesus Christ and allow the Holy Spirit to work through us.
Amen Edward
Hope you had a safe & happy 4th Patricia! Thanks for sharing Martha Rogers blog post.
