What Are You Reading?

This is the first of my book review blogs and I wanted to start out with a Southern mystery.

Mary Ellis is well-known for her Amish fiction and historical romance. You can learn more about her at her website.

I loved the setting of Savannah, Georgia, and Tybee Island, places I’ve always wanted to visit. The fact that everyone there has secrets to hide from Price Investigations makes it even more enjoyable. Here’s the review I put on Amazon and Goodreads:

In Sunset in Old Savannah, Price investigators Michael Preston and Elizabeth (Beth) Kirby are sent to Savannah, Georgia to catch a husband cheating on his wife. When they get the goods on him, Beth is shocked that the wife plans to forgive him. I loved the way Mary Ellis wove God’s grace throughout the book. Her characters are flawed but loveable—except for the ones who aren’t supposed to be. And even then, Mary writes them in such a way that you find yourself emphasizing with them.

Mary also had me guessing to the end about the villain. While this is the fourth book in the Secrets of the South series, you don’t have to read the others to enjoy this one, but you’re missing out if you don’t go back and read those as well.

So, what are you reading this week? Leave a comment to be entered in a drawing for my copy of Sunset In Old Savannah at the end of the month. And as usual, I’d love a tweet!

Hi, Pat. I love a good Southern mystery/ romance . I already have a copy but haven’t had a chance to read it yet. The book I’m reading now is Newton and Polly by Jody Hedlund.

I just finished reading Annie Proulx’s Barkskins, a 753 page total epic doing a brilliant job of following axemen and lumber-processing families through the development of N. American history, and actually beyond. This is a thought-provoking chronicle with great accurate detail–very impressive.

Kerfuffle by Kristin Spencer and The Girl Who Could See by Kara Swanson. Both are YA–the Girl w/ a sci-fi bent. Both are for reviews. Sunset in Old Savannah sounds like a good read. Thx for sharing.

Hi, Pat. Right now, I am reading Miramar Bay by Davis Bunn. This is the first of his books in a couple of years that I was not a member of his launch team. Since he changed publicists, I have not heard from anyone about his Davis Bunn books. I may still be on his Thomas Locke team but not sure about that at the moment. I have read all four books in the Secret of the South Mysteries series by Mary Ellis. Here’s a link to my review of this book: http://tinyurl.com/yc2a82ja. I enjoy Mary’s books.

I love this cover! My husband and I went to San Fransico in October for the first time and rode on one of these cable cars, it looked exactly like this one! It always evokes good memories when I see it 🙂 I have many of Mary’s books on my shelves and I would absolutely love to add this one to my collection, thank you for the chance Patricia!

You asked what book am I reading; Deep Waters by Jessica R. Patch her newest LIS (Love Inspired Suspense). 🙂

If I saw this cover in a bookstore or online, it would catch my attention & make me want to know more about this book! I haven’t been to Savannah, but it is definitely a place I want to visit!! I’m reading The Happiness in Between by Grace Greene before I read an ARC of her new book The Memory of Butterflies.

I just finished Robin Lee Hatcher’s latest and am starting on something a little different by Kate Quinn, The Alice Network. In doing genealogy I have studied that area but have not visited….fascinating town and region.
