Reader Friday – Elizabeth Goddard

This week I’m discussing Elizabeth Goddard’s book, Deception. Here’s the back cover copy and then my review.

Trail of Secrets:

Jewel Caraway thought she’d left her mistakes in the past—but then her past arrives at her door. Though she’s thrilled to reunite with her estranged sister, something about her sister’s new husband makes Jewel uneasy. Does he know her secret? Is he the one behind the growing list of attacks against her? And if he is involved…does that mean her sister is, too? With nowhere else to turn, Jewel must rely on police chief Colin Winters—the first man to make the widow question her resolve to never love again. But will he stay by her side when her guarded secrets are revealed?

This was my first book by Elizabeth Goddard, but it won’t be my last. Deception kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Her characters were well drawn and I cared what happened to them. Just when you think you’ve figured out the mystery there is a twist in the story. And I loved the Alaskan setting.

The hero, Colin Winters stole my heart. He was brave and determined to keep Jewel safe, even if it cost him his life. And Jewel was gutsy and didn’t give up.

Okay, how about you? What are you reading this week? Have you read any of Elizabeth’s other LIS books? Leave a comment to be entered in this month’s drawing for any of the books mentioned on Reader Friday (Unless they’ve already been claimed by an earlier winner).

I have read several of Elizabeth Goddard’s books. She’s a good Minnesota gal. A hairdresser recommended I read a Swedish novel now a best-seller here, A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman. Well-done but tongue-in-cheek humor–different.

I’ve just started These Healing Hills by Ann Gabhart. It has drawn me in and I’m only on page 53! I have read a few by Elizabeth Goddard and really enjoyed them. This one is going on my TBR pile. A Man Called Ove was made into a movie that we saw. We loved it! Thanks Pat for another great review.

I just started reading “War Room” by Chris Fabry last night. It has been in my TBR stack since right after the movie was released. I’m finally getting to it.

I’m reading a book by Cyndy Bartelli The Heart Healer, that was recommended by author Myra Johnson! It’s very good.
No, have not read anything by Elizabeth Goddard, but hear good things about her books…perhaps I should get online and get some. Thanks for your post, Pat.
    Blessings on your weekend!

I’ve read every Mountain Cove book and quite a few others now that I am on Elizabeth’s street team 🙂 I really love her writing! Did you also know she signed with Revell not too long ago? So awesome 🙂

For this week, I read My Heart Belongs in Shenadoah Valley: Lily’s Dilemma by Andrea Boeshaar, Deadly Proof by Rachel Dylan (I recommend it!) and just finished up The Single Mom’s Second Chance (LI) by Jessica Keller. I’m going to be starting The Rancher’s Mistletoe Bride (Oct. LI) by Jill Kemerer. My “for fun” book (one I don’t have to review) is Lady Maybe by Julie Klassen…borrowed from the library. A book filled week as usual 😉
