Unlucky Robber

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 25 Comments

Well, January has come and gone. Can you believe it? I can’t. I’d hoped to have more words on my new Cold Case book, but at least I’m getting into the story now! As I write this, I have 17,500 words. Only 72,500 to go. This is my Elvis impersonator  tribute artist book. And this is the opening line–a text my heroine receives from the receptionist in homicide.

Elvis is in the building and he wants to see you. 🙂

I’m having fun with this story!

Oh! By the way, Silence in the Dark is on the long list for the 2017 Inspy Award in Romance/Romantic Suspense! I am so excited to be in such great company, and so grateful to the readers who nominated it! Check it out here.

And the winner of the January drawing is …Cindy Patterson!! She will receive a copy of Justice Delayed that releases TODAY! Everyone else, be sure to leave a comment to be entered in the February drawing.
Now for last week’s Mystery Question:

This one goes all the way back to 1969 when young Houston telephone operator was abducted in the parking lot of her place of work and murdered. How was the crime solved?

  1. In trying to win an award, a fingerprint technician ran the fingerprints from the crime scene through her database and came up with twenty possible suspects, and one confessed when he was brought in for questioning.
  2. The murderer learned he had inoperable cancer and the murder weighed heavily on his mind. On his deathbed, he could stand it no longer and confessed.
  3. After the murderer died, his mentally challenged accomplice came forward, saying he would have told earlier, but he was afraid he would be killed.
  4. A man was arrested for drug trafficking, and he offered a deal–probation in exchange for the person responsible for murdering the Houston telephone operator thirty-four years earlier.

And the answer is #1. 🙂

Now for this week’s Mystery Question:

A robber held his intended victim at gunpoint. The victim was certain he was going to die. Why didn’t he?

  1. The victim knew Kali, a form of self-defense, and disarmed the robber, then held him until police arrived.
  2. The victim was a detective who just gone off-duty and had not yet removed his bullet-proof vest.
  3. The victim fainted, and the robber thought he’d killed him and fled without taking his wallet.
  4. The gun failed to fire and the robber peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. This time it worked.

So Super Sleuths, which answer is it? Leave your guess in the comments below and I’ll enter you in the February drawing for a copy of Justice Delayed which releases TODAY!

Patricia, congratulations on the new release and on the long-list for Silence in the Dark! For today’s question, I’m guessing #3, fainted-and-presumed-dead. I sure hope the robber wasn’t dumb enough for #4, but one never knows… Well, we’ll know next week.

I have to go with #3 this week…because it would be too funny!! HAHA! What a way to foil a robber than by actually fainting 🙂
Congrats on the new book release! I THOUGHT I would be getting this through a book review group I am part of, but I see no evidence (no pun intended, lol) of such book coming to me. so please do add my name to the pot to win a copy. It just looks so good and I was excited to have been able to read it…or so I thought. *Sigh* Thanks so much for the fun quizzes every week.

Tixi, I don’t know that any of the books have gone out. Several people who usually get one from Revell have asked me where it is. I’m checking with the publisher. 🙂 And thanks for always guessing!

Oh, thank you for checking on this! I had requested both yours and Lynette Eason’s newest one “Moving Target” through Revell Reads, but like I said, I see no evidence of either one coming to me via USPS or UPS. I just joined Revell about 3 months ago and have reviewed one book by them, so I’m not sure if they confirm by email that you’ll be getting the book or not. I’m also a part of Barbour Review Crew & they always let you know if you’ve been chosen to review a book. I hate not knowing!! I really appreciate your inquiring on this 🙂

Are you going to make more books in the Logan point Series? I love these books!! I’m just starting the 3rd book in a minute. So far my favorite is book 2.

It will probably be a couple of years and I’ll probably Indie publish unless Revell changes their mind about more Logan Point books. But Scott and Wade intrigue me and I want to know what happens with Ruth the Librarian. 🙂

I’ve been wondering about Ruth. I hope it’s only a year and not a couple before you release a new one. 🙂
