True or False Stories…

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 12 Comments

My time seems to be shorter as I get closer to the end of the book. 🙂 So, once again instead of blogging about who-knows-what, I’m posting a few True or False stories that will be fun!

But first last week’s Mystery Question and answer.

BugattiIn 2009, their eccentric and brilliant uncle passed away, leaving a brother and sister the deed to a dusty old garage in his will. When they opened up the garage  and took a good look inside, they found…

  1. A chest full of Confederate money, never circulated–worth to collectors–$200,000.
  2. A 1937 Bugatti worth millions.
  3. A canvass bag with $800,000–money he had left from a bank robbery.
  4. Twenty bars of gold bullion.

And the answer is….In case you can’t tell from the photo — #2. And that’s not all he left them. Check it out here.

Now for a couple of True or False stories that may or may not be from my over-active imagination:

When a robber’s .38-caliber revolver failed to fire at its intended victim during a hold-up, he did something that can only inspire wonder: he peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. Happily for most concerned, this time it worked.

What do you think? Did I make it up or is it true?

Leave your guess in the comment box.

And one more:

Two characters in the United Kingdom held up a post office. When they went outside they found their getaway car had been stolen. One of them had left the keys inside. They flagged down a passing car with the intention of using it as a getaway. Unfortunately for them, it was a police car.

Again, leave your guess as to whether this is true or I made it up. And thanks for stopping by! And feel free to Click to Tweet!

I would guess #1 is false and #2 is true. of course, with the dumb criminal stories you hear, it wouldn’t surprise me if they are both true.

I’d say the first story is definitely true. I think I’ve heard of this before where there is no bullet in the barrel, but after they pull the trigger once, one drops into the barrel. So, the second shot is “successful”. Not sure about the second one, but it does sound dumb enough to be true. The part I like best there is that the get-a-way car was stolen!
