More from the Police Blotter

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 20 Comments

If any of my readers are in the Atlanta area and are going to the RT Booklover’s Convention, I’ll be there Thursday and Friday! I’d love to visit with you at Revell’s Books! Chocolate! And Authors! Event, where I will be giving away a data drive with the Justice Delayed logo on it with the books that Revell is giving away!

And, not just there but also at The Seymour Agency Event where we’ll play BINGO. Everyone at my table will receive a goody bag with the data drive and other items.

I think these data drives from  USB Memory Direct are great advertisements!

Now for last week’s Mystery Question: The following are short quotes from actual police reports; statements either taken directly off of insurance forms or things said directly to the officer taking the report. Which is the false statement?
  1. “When I told my girlfriend to get out of the car, I thought she’d wait until I stopped.”
  2. “I was taking my canary to the hospital. It got loose in the car and flew out the window. The next thing I saw was his rear end, and there was a crash.”
  3. “I had been learning to drive with power steering. I turned the wheel to what I thought was enough and found myself in a different direction going the opposite way.
  4. “I told the police I was not injured, but upon removing my hair, I found that I had a fractured skull.”

And the false insurance report is…#1. 🙂 I don’t know how the police officers kept a straight face when they heard the other reports, or how they wrote them down!

I liked last week’s questions so well, I thought I’d continue on with reports from insurance companies and police blotters! One of the statements is FALSE, the rest, unfortunately, are true:
  1. “The guy was all over the road. I had to swerve a number of times before I hit him.”
  2. “The telephone pole was approaching fast. I was attempting to swerve out of its path when it struck my front end.”
  3. “I was driving along when all of a sudden I heard this rattlesnake in my car. It scared me so bad I ran off the road into the ditch. That’s when I found out it was my toddler shaking his baby rattle.”
  4. “The indirect cause of this accident was a little guy in a small car with a big mouth.”

Okay, Super Sleuths, which is the FALSE statement? And a tweet would be much appreciated! And, I’m adding one of the data drives to the drawing at the end of the month. To be entered, just leave a comment! (prizes this month for US addresses only)

I’ll also go w/ #3, the baby rattle. I worked summers in a U.S. Forest Service office and remember processing one accident report that said, “Painted sign. Stepped back to admire work. Fell down cliff. Broke back–true story.

I’m going with #1. I can see #3 happening. Those rattlers sound real lol. I’ve heard about that telephone pole that chases you as well lol. I love that data drive. That would be a very cool gift!

I seem to have a problem getting the right answer. It tends to be frustrating since I read a lot and often figure out the bad guy long before the end of the book. I don’t know why I keep missing these unless I’m simply overthinking them. Anyway, I’m going with #4.

Hi, Edward. Maybe it’s because the true ones are so dumb, it’s hard to believe anyone would do something that stupid. 🙂 I’m not sure I’d get the right answer myself. But I love to see you on my blog, so don’t stop guessing…you never know when you might be right!
