Then the Lord replied:

“Write down the revelation
    and make it plain on tablets
    so that a herald may run with it.
For the revelation awaits an appointed time;
    it speaks of the end
    and will not prove false.
Though it linger, wait for it;
    itwill certainly come
    and will not delay.

First the winner of Silence in the Dark and then the answer to last week’s crime and the winner of Silence in the Dark!

Quick review:

On December 14, 1969, a young single mother named  arrived for her shift as a Southwestern Bell telephone operator in Houston. After parking her car in the company lot, she was forced into a nearby shack by an unknown individual and murdered. After a thorough investigation by the Houston Police Department (PD), no suspects were identified, and the latent prints lifted from the outside of the victim’s car were filed away.

Thirty-four years later, the crime was solved and the man responsible was put behind bars. How was the crime solved and who solved it?

  1. The woman’s son joined the police department and asked for his mother’s file. DNA that did not belong to his mother was found on her clothing, and after there was a match in the database, the murderer confessed.
  2. The woman’s brother began investigating the murder, and he ran the latent prints found on the victim’s car through IAFIS and a match was made that eventually put the murderer behind bars.
  3. In 2003, a man serving a life sentence confessed to another inmate that he’d killed a woman in 1969. He gave her name to the inmate and the inmate reported it to the warden. When the murderer was confronted, he confessed.

And the winner of Silence in the Dark is Rhonda Allred!

Now about that scripture in Habakkuk. Have you ever asked God for something and you didn’t get it? Or are you asking God for something and it just isn’t happening? I know I have. My writing for one thing. I can remember wanting to be published so badly. I pestered God til I’m sure he wanted earplugs.

Then, one day about three years into the pestering, I realized that if I had gotten a contract for my book when I first asked God, I would now be so embarrassed. It was horrible. That’s when I realized that God really did know what he was doing.

And I relaxed in my journey to get published. And began thanking Him for when He would bring it to pass. I realized it would be in His timing and not mine. And that’s what Habakkuk 2:2 -3 says to me. Waiting until it’s God’s timing for your vision to come to pass.

But what if you don’t have a vision or a dream? Then ask God to put one in your heart. I promise God has a dream for you. [tweet_dis] If you don’t know what God’s dream for you is, ask Him. He will not only give it to you, He will confirm it. [/tweet_dis] Then thank Him for it every time it comes to mind.

I did, and He blessed me with a three-book deal instead of the one-book contract I had in mind.

Now to be entered in a drawing for a copy of Silence in the Dark…or if you already have it, a $10 Amazon gift card, leave a comment letting me know whether or not you have a dream (something you’re passionate about). If you leave a comment about the Mystery Crime and your dream, I’ll enter you twice. And if you tweet one of the tweets and say so in the comment, I’ll enter your name 3 times!

Now for our Mystery Crime for you to solve:

Over five decades ago two girls were playing on the sidewalk in front of their house when a man approached them. After giving them piggyback rides, one of the little girls ran home for her gloves and when she returned both the man and her friend were gone.

How was this murder solved:

  1. A man got drunk one night in a bar and bragged about getting away with murder to his comrades. One of them called a detective friend and he recognized the case and arrested the man who confessed.
  2. A woman emailed her mother’s deathbed confession that her son had killed the little girl and the case was reopened.
  3. The murderer, dying of cancer wanted to clear his conscience before he died, wrote a letter to the detective handling the cold case, confessing. He died before standing trial.

Okay Peeps, it’s up to you. Which one is true?

    This case resembles something I saw on 48 Hours on CBS. If I remember correctly, answer number 2 is the right answer.

    Wow! This is fun! I’m going to guess #3. I have a passion in my business to help other ladies to work from home so they can be stay at home moms or to help them make ends meet. I’ve been a jeweler with Premier Designs for 25 years and I love it. It is a great company built on Biblical principles. Not many of those around any more it seems.

    Oh P at, I am so excited, can’t believe that I won!!! So enjoyed talking with you on Saturday as well.

    And thanks for the devotion. It is exciting to hear that our God will give us a dream/purpose/calling. So often I get caught up in the day to day and just surviving that I forget to ask / seek his will in the day to day. Your reminder to ask and then thank him is very applicable today and every today. You are a blessing!! God bless you!!

    Really thinking about it, my dreams came true when God placed my husband in my life & gave me two great kids and now a 2 year old grand-daughter! I can’t really think of any other dream I’ve had for my life. I have everything that’s important to me & that has to count for something 🙂
    As for the murder mystery, I’d have to go with #3. You’re crime stories are always tough to know the right answer to because it could be any of them!
    I’ve also tweeted both things on this page that you’ve provided & I’ll be sharing this post on my FB page for others to join in! This is always so fun for me every week to try to solve the mystery!
    Thank you for the book giveaway also!
