Christmas in July–Sweet Holiday Romances

Patricia Bradley Book Review, Romance 29 Comments

I had forgotten this was RWA Nationals so the contest will be extended through Monday!

I’m not sure everyone is aware that I not only write Inspirational Romantic Suspense for Revell but sweet romances for Harlequin Heartwarming, as well. And twelve of the Heartwarming Authors have gotten together and created twelve sweet holiday romances. And I’m one of those authors!

Heartwarming 12As I look at the other names on this boxed set of sweet holiday romances, I want to pinch myself. I would be safe in saying they represent millions of books sold. These are, like the title in the ad says, USA Today, National Bestselling, and award winning authors.

The stories aren’t just twelve independent stories, but are four connected anthologies. Three authors came together to write an anthology for A Heartwarming Christmas. That means each set of three novellas shares characters and storylines, and my characters even pop up in some of the other stories! This collection of PG-rated holiday romances are all set in Christmas Town, a location introduced in the 2014 Harlequin Heartwarming release Christmas, Actually. A Heartwarming Christmas will bring you laughter, tears, and happily-ever-afters (no cliffhangers), for more than 1200 pages. And the Foreword is by small town lover and New York Times bestseller Kristan Higgins.

I’ll be writing more about this anthology and the story I’m writing for it in the next couple of months. But today, I’m offering a  pre-ordered copy each to five commenters in a random drawing. A Heartwarming Christmas takes place in a small town, so to enter, leave a comment about whether you like small town living or big city living and why. If you are  a subscriber of my blog or you subscribe today, mention it and I’ll add an additional entry. Contest ends Wednesday night at midnight, Pacific Coast time. (I forgot the abbreviation and don’t want to look it up. lol)

These sound wonderful especially because of the tie that binds sets of three together! What a cool idea someone, perhaps your Publisher, had about that. I think the link makes for a much more interesting set of books. I really look forward to reading them. Personally I prefer city life as there are more stores/shops to choose from as well as a better selection of special places to always visit. I have any number of reasons. In addition to that, I have lived in both and do realize I can be happy wherever God plants me for His purpose. As long as I walk with Him and follow Him, I’m happy.

Wow, Patricia–what a lovely collection and group of authors! I can’t figure out how to subscribe to your blog (clearly a bit tech challenged) but did subscribe to your newsletter 🙂 I grew up in a pretty big city and thought I’d want to settle there as an adult, but realize I’m much more suited to a life in the suburbs–not too small-town, but not too big city 😉

Why, thank you. I love this collection. It was a bit daunting to write with such awesome authors. And I’m with you there about the not-too small town and not too big city.

I think the subscribe to my blog is right below the subscribe to my newsletter. 🙂

I’ve found clicking on Feedly and registering with them is the easiest way to subscribe.

I love Christmas stories, no matter what time of year. I have a whole shelf of them I’ve kept and sometimes re-read, especially at Christmas time. I would love to win this collection!

I like living in a small town, but I think there are some advantages to living in a big city.

Sounds like a great collection of stories.

Wow! I confess I haven’t read anything by these other authors, but I’m always looking for new and good reads, so I’m interested. 🙂
I live closer to the suburbs, but I’ve been told I’m a city girl and I’m prone to agree. I like the city and the multitude of places to go and things to do. The fast-paced schedule and deadline meeting is familiar to me and anything otherwise would probably drive me a little crazy at first. 🙂 That being said, I read about wonderful small towns and the characters that make small town living sound so charming. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to greet familiar faces everyday – walking to work and greeting people, the barista at Starbucks who knows my name and what I like, everyone knows every body… It usually draws me in and makes me want to go and visit. 🙂
I tried subscribing to your blog, but I had some difficulties with Yahoo and so I’m not sure it worked out this time around, but I’ll try again later. I had no trouble subscribing to your newsletter however, so at least that worked out! 🙂

Nicole, I have trouble subscribing to anything! Thanks. I was born in Memphis, and sometimes I miss all the things a big city has to offer. But the hustle and bustle drive me crazy, so I’ll stay put. Thanks for stopping by!

Patricia, I just discovered your books and love them!! I am subscribed to your newsletter and blog 🙂

I live in a small town have for 8 years. Although I’ve adjusted to it and think it’s a great place to raise my kids, I am from a big city and definitely prefer that more. Small town life can be enjoyable but it’s hard when you’re not born and raised in one…outsiders aren’t always welcomed. Big city allows for more diversity and anonymity.

Hi Pat! This group of Heartwarming stories sound wonderful! Right down my alley! I grew up in a huge city and loved all the diversions and culture, however, I never quite fit in. Give me a small town/country setting and I am much happier. I also love stories set in small towns and country, likely because I love the quirky group of neighbors that populate them 🙂
Best wishes on your Christmas story! (And I did just subscribe to your blog!)

Thanks, Kathryn! I’ll enter you 2x. 🙂 I like the small town I live in. Memphis is 1 1/2 hour away; Three other cities with a population over 50,000 are an hour away. It’s perfect.

Looking forward to reading this collection, Pat. I’ve lived in both large cities and small towns across the country, and have found each environment lends itself to specific characteristics and benefits. Right now I’ll take small-town living. Yep, a subscriber. Congratulations!

Doris Walker has been trying to leave a comment and somehow hasn’t been able to. So I’m entering for her. Her comment: Give me country living every time! Cities are too busy.

Awesome holiday collection! I enjoy living in a small town where there are open spaces and no traffic! We lived in NYC for 3 years, it was exciting at the time but now I am enjoying a quieter life.

I like small town living. I grew up in a small Colorado town where everyone knew each other and seemed to respect them. We never even locked our doors at night.
